Mud volcano Shugo

Turkish fountain

The architectural complex, consisting of stone pavilions, pillars and pools, was built in the 15th century, when Taman was part of the Ottoman Empire. The purpose of a Turkish fountain is the most direct: to produce fresh water. But the design of the source is not quite ordinary - it is a condenser type, which allows you to obtain moisture directly from the air.

The technology for extracting the liquid involved the use of ceramic pipes laid underground for many kilometers. Water was collected in storage wells, and from there flowed into a reservoir placed in a stone grotto. Just like 500 years ago, the resulting liquid is called “earth dew” and is used for drinking and household needs to this day.

Ethnographic complex “Cossack village Ataman”

Located in the west of Taman. The village is a symbol and one of the most popular attractions of the region. The museum was built by a group of enthusiasts in three months in 2009.

The buildings were built to full size with decoration made according to ancient sketches. The realism of the object is given by the fact that materials and technologies from the Middle Ages were used for construction.

To recreate Cossack life, household utensils from all corners of the region were collected by village families. Visitors will be able to touch history. They will get acquainted with the simple and unique way of life of an ancient Kuban home.

Lermontov House-Museum

The main cultural attraction of the region is located on Marx Street. The museum was created in a house similar to the one in which the poet himself stayed on his way to his duty station in the Caucasus.

Suvorovsky Val

The remains of the Phanagoria fortress, built in 1794 by order of Alexander Suvorov, are located at the exit from the village, on the eastern shore of the Taman Bay. From the once powerful fortifications, an earthen rampart and star-shaped outlines have been preserved, which are visible only in satellite images.

Stone structures at the end of the 18th century. were considered a miracle of engineering, the fortress was admired and predicted a long “life”. However, fate decreed otherwise: after a massive shelling of the Anglo-French squadron, only ruins remained of the outpost.

In memory of those events, a memorial stone, busts of Alexander Suvorov and Admiral Fyodor Ushakov, as well as ancient cannons with cannonballs were installed on the shaft.
