Naberezhnye Chelny - Sights: Orthodox and Muslim shrines - Overview of attractions + Video from travelers

Many tourists begin their tour of Naberezhnye Chelny on Entuziastov Boulevard. This pedestrian street is a meeting and recreational place for citizens.

The landscaped area has flower beds, benches, elegant lanterns, original fountains, and cafes and shops. The highlight of Enthusiasts Boulevard is sculptures in the avant-garde style. The works of art were created by the famous architect, artist and sculptor Ildar Mansaveevich Khanov.

In the evenings, the sculptures are illuminated with special lanterns. On Flower Day, the boulevard is covered with hundreds of colorful compositions.

What to see in Naberezhnye Chelny? There are plenty of attractions in the city that deserve attention.

Fountain with the sculpture “Evolution”

On Enthusiasts Boulevard, among the many fountains, this one stands out. Not all townspeople understood the author's idea. To many, the fountain seemed somewhat strange.

But when the authorities decided to remove the composition from city streets, residents of Naberezhnye Chelny stood up to defend this work of art. The fountain remained in its place.

People debate what this unusual composition means. Perhaps you will be the one to solve this mystery?

THE BEST MONUMENTS AND SCULPTURES OF THE CITY

“Vecherka” continues to introduce readers to the results of its ratings. This time we asked the newspaper's experts to name the five best monuments and sculptures in the city. I must say, the task was not easy. Naberezhnye Chelny is not St. Petersburg, where monuments and sculptures number in the tens and hundreds. Nevertheless, our city has its own interesting history - let’s, together with the survey participants, look at its most remarkable pages.

During the survey, Vecherka experts named 11 different monuments and sculptures that they preferred. After counting the votes, the top five included: a monument to Vladimir Vysotsky, a monument to Rais Belyaev, the Motherland memorial complex at the Studencheskaya stop, a monument to Evgeny Batenchuk and a complex of avant-garde sculptures on Enthusiasts Boulevard (by Ildar Khanov). The leading positions in the ranking were taken by two monuments: the legendary poet and singer Vladimir Vysotsky and the first secretary of the CPSU city committee Rais Belyaev. Let us recall that V. Vysotsky came to Naberezhnye Chelny with the Taganka Theater exactly 30 years ago - in 1974. And in December 2003, in front of the Kamgesenergostroy directorate building, a monument to Vladimir Semenovich was unveiled (the author of the project is architect Vladimir Nesterenko). The monument is not finished yet; work remains on finishing the bell, base, and so on. According to the project, Vysotsky Square will turn into a stylized hall for holding various events. Memorial stones will also be installed here with the inscription: “This monument was built on the initiative of the city residents” and indicating the participants in the construction. As the survey participants noted, the monument to V. Vysotsky will always remind the pioneer builders of KAMAZ and Kamgesenergostroy of their youth. To be honest, we have not heard of monuments to the first secretaries of the city or regional committee of the CPSU being unveiled in any cities in the post-perestroika years. Probably, Naberezhnye Chelny is a pleasant exception in this regard - we have immortalized the memory of a man who became a legend during his lifetime. This is the first secretary of the city committee of the CPSU R. Belyaev. Rais Kiyamovich worked in our city from 1970 to 1984 and is remembered by many as an extraordinary person, a brilliant organizer, and leader, from whom they take their example to this day. One of the experts emphasized in his answer: “Rais Kiyamovich rooted for the city with all his heart. Today, few leaders give as much effort as he does.” Let us add that the monument to R. Belyaev (opposite the KAMAZ directorate in the village of GES) is the work of the architect V. Nesterenko and the sculptor A. Derbilov. In the list of the best monuments, respondents included the Motherland memorial complex at the Studencheskaya stop. This monumental structure has a very interesting history. The memorial complex was opened on May 9, 1975 to mark the 30th anniversary of the Victory. According to experts, the construction of such a structure required at least 2-2.5 years. And the monument was built in record time - in 2 months 17 days! Its author is the famous sculptor Ildar Khanov. As I. Khanov himself later admitted, many years of yoga classes helped him withstand the inhuman loads during the construction of this structure. The monument to the legendary Bata, the famous builder of the motor city, head of Kamgesenergostroy, Hero of Socialist Labor Evgeniy Batenchuk, was also in the top five. Evgeny Nikanorovich is an honorary citizen of the cities of Naberezhnye Chelny and Mirny, honored builder of Yakutia, Tatarstan and Russia. The opening of the monument to E. Batenchuk took place in 2002 on Builder's Day. The authors of the monument are architect Valery Manukyan and sculptor from Chelyabinsk Sergey Vorobyov. The complex of avant-garde sculptures on Entuziastov Boulevard has long become one of the calling cards of our city. Sculptor Ildar Khanov worked on this complex for almost 10 years - from 1982 to 1991. It includes such sculptures as “The Tree of Life” (opposite supermarket No. 105), “Wings of Love” (opposite “Batyr”) and others. One of the elements of the complex remained unfinished. Among the best monuments and sculptures in the city, experts also named the monument “Glory to the builders of KAMAZ!” on highway No. 1 (dedicated to pioneers and construction machine operators). The author of the project and the builder is Hero of Socialist Labor Umat-Girey Naurbiev, foreman of scrapers at the Kamgesenergostroy Department of Construction. This monument was opened in February 1981, on the day the second stage of KAMAZ was launched. By the way, W.-G. Naurbiev is the author of the idea and the architect of the monument to the soldiers of the Fatherland, the sculptor is Yuri Dremin from Moscow. The monument was erected in the 90s in honor of internationalist soldiers. Survey participants also noted the memorial complex of the Hero of Socialist Labor, director of the Vesenny state farm from 1972 to 1992, Ravil Nizametdinov. The architect of the project is V. Manukyan, the sculptor is M. Gasimov from Kazan. Vecherka experts included these monuments and sculptures among the city’s attractions.

19 PLUS 49

One of the survey participants in his questionnaire answered the question: “Why did you give preference to these particular monuments and sculptures?” gave a laconic answer: “Because there is nothing else!” We decided to find out whether there really are too many monuments in Chelny? It turned out not. As the chief specialist of the cultural department for library and museum activities, Ramziya Arkhireeva, shared, the State Protective Register includes 19 monuments of history, culture and architecture of Naberezhnye Chelny. Of these, two have the status of monuments of republican significance - the Church of Cosmas and Damian (Oryol Church) and the Church of the Ascension (Borovets Church), the remaining 17 are monuments of local significance. In addition, the city expert council for the protection of monuments made a proposal to include another 49 monuments in the State Protective Register. This issue will be considered by the expert commission on the protection of monuments under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan. So Chelny cannot be called poor in terms of monuments and sculptures.

Business-

The tallest building in Naberezhnye Chelny, one of the main attractions of the city. The height of the building is 81 meters, the number of floors is 24. Without the skyscraper “2.18” it is difficult to imagine the architectural appearance of Naberezhnye Chelny.

Go up to the roof. There is an observation deck here. City blocks and terrain right up to the banks of the Kama River are visible.

The original design appeared in the city thanks to the help of foreign investors. The skyscraper was commissioned in 2005. Now the offices of the largest Russian and foreign companies are located here.

Memorial complex "Motherland"

The majestic memorial is dedicated to the memory of city residents who died on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. The names of 6,805 people who did not return from the war are engraved on the mourning wall.

The Motherland resembles a Phoenix bird. The massive sculpture has become one of the symbols of Naberezhnye Chelny.

Address: st. E.N. Batenchuk.

Monument to Vladimir Vysotsky

Closer to the city outskirts on Gidrostroiteley Street there is one of the most famous monuments of Naberezhnye Chelny. The original sculptural composition differs from all monuments erected in memory of the famous bard.

I admire the skill and talent of the author, local sculptor Vladimir Nesterenko. The opening of the unique monument took place in 2003.

City History Museum

In 1974, one of the largest museum centers in Tatarstan opened its doors. There are permanent paleontological and archaeological exhibitions. A separate exhibition tells about the activities of the residents of Naberezhnye Chelny a century ago.

Cultural leisure

Not a single trip is complete without a trip to museums. This time we decided not to cheat on ourselves and looked into the Main City Museum , located in Naberezhnye Chelny at the address: st. Gidrostroiteley, 16. (not to be confused with the Museum of City History). In general, the exhibitions of these institutions are consistent. Both museums tell the history of the city. There are antique photographs, decorative and applied arts, and household items. Separate stands depict the pre-Soviet period in the history of the city. Please note: Tuesday and Monday are days off. While museums are closed, you can visit the Chelny art gallery (Mira Avenue, 52/16) and the Da Vinci art gallery, located in house No. 3 on the same avenue.

Tired of walking? Spend your leisure time in one of the theaters - the Russian Drama Theater "Masters" (Akademika Rubanenko St., 7), the Fashion Theater, the State Tatar Drama Theater (Khasan Tufan Avenue, 15), the Youth Theater-Studio "Klyuch" or the Puppet Theater (Boulevard School, 2).

Speaking about cultural heritage, it is impossible not to mention the love of local residents for Vladimir Vysotsky . Passers-by told us that once Vysotsky came from Moscow to Chelny with a concert. Now, on the site of the hotel where he stayed, there is a monument made up of fragments of a bell, a star and a guitar. This composition is located at the intersection of Komsomolskaya embankment and Gidrostroiteley street. On the same street in house number 17 is the Vysotsky Historical Heritage Center. Most of the exhibits were borrowed from connoisseurs of the musician’s work.

It is impossible to imagine the second most populous city in Tatarstan without city churches and mosques. People of different religions coexist peacefully here.

Explore places of worship of different religious communities. Among the temples and mosques there are many ancient monuments.

Temple of Cosmas and Damian

The oldest city building appeared in Naberezhnye Chelny in 1859. Architect Konstantin Ton has created another masterpiece.

The temple, whose appearance contains Byzantine and pseudo-Russian motifs, existed until the mid-30s. The Bolsheviks stopped worship services and organized a warehouse on the premises.

Over sixty years of operation, the walls of the temple have become dilapidated. The townspeople took up the task of saving the spiritual monastery. After the restoration, new buildings were added to the temple. Now this majestic structure is a decoration of Naberezhnye Chelny.

Address: ave. Naberezhnye Chelninsky, 37a.
