Sukko beaches - the most complete overview, marks on the map, photos, reviews, hotels nearby

Every year, numerous Russians go to the Black Sea coast of the Caucasus for sun, sea and a pleasant pastime. Many of them choose the Anapa region for recreation, and not only Anapa itself, but also the villages nearby, including the popular resort village Sukko

.

  • What to see in the vicinity of Sukko
  • This small but very picturesque village, located only 12 kilometers south of Anapa, stretches for 6 kilometers along the river of the same name, surrounded by the Caucasus Mountains (between the Ekonomicheskaya and Soldatskaya mountains), which affected its climate and landscape. Holidays in Sukko are chosen by holidaymakers who prefer a calm and measured holiday, as well as married couples with children.

The village of Sukko is located in a valley between the mountains 12 km from Anapa

Pros and cons of holidays in Sukko

Sukko is a rather secluded, cozy and calm village, which has everything for a comfortable summer holiday. There is a large and varied choice of housing, a well-developed resort infrastructure, entertainment attractions and playgrounds, a warm sea and mountain beauty.

In Sukko there is an opportunity for both sea swimming and walks in the mountains

Vacationers in Sukko are attracted primarily by its location, natural beauty and healing climate. Located in the gorge of the foothills of the Caucasus, this village has a more humid climate and is protected by mountains from northern winds, unlike neighboring Anapa. In the mountainous and foothill environs of Sukko, thickets of relict juniper grow, exuding healing and antimicrobial aromas. Therefore, the local climate is more suitable for patients with respiratory damage than the Anapa climate. In addition to juniper, oaks, beeches, pines and other broad-leaved trees grow in the local mountains.

Sukko is a typical village of the Krasnodar Territory, which, as a rule, formed in the Black Sea region along the rivers flowing into the Black Sea, and grew not along the coast, but inland. Although, it would be more correct to say that this village initially arose far from the coast, and then stretched to the sea. Moreover, along the river of the same name it stretches for more than 6 km, and along the coastline, suitable for swimming, its length is only about one kilometer.

Sukko extends 6 km deep into the mainland perpendicular to the sea

This specific location of the village must be taken into account when choosing a place to stay in Sukko for the duration of your vacation. Here, as in every resort village of the Black Sea region, there is a large selection of housing from economy class to elite and luxury accommodation. But, first of all, when making this choice, you need to pay attention to the distance of the place from the sea. Some people like to relax in the immediate vicinity, while others prefer places closer to the foothills, such as Stroiteley Street, located in the gorge. After all, walks to the sea along the shady streets of a cozy village are not only pleasant, but also good for health. In any case, the distance of housing from the beach area significantly affects its price. There are also campsites in the village. When looking for housing, it is also necessary to check whether there is a water purifier in the house, because the natural water that flows into the taps contains hydrogen sulfide.

You can find very comfortable housing in the village

There is no usual decorated resort Embankment in Sukko. Therefore, the main tourist thoroughfare in the village has become Primorskaya Street, which leads to the Central Beach and the local small Amusement Park with a Ferris Wheel. This street is called "Broadway" here. It is where most of the shops, stalls and kiosks are concentrated, where you can buy almost everything - food, beach accessories, souvenirs, haberdashery and cosmetics.

Local "Broadway" the most popular tourist thoroughfare

Most of the public catering places are located in the area of Primorskaya Street. Here you can enjoy barbecue or visit any of the local canteens where you can eat very inexpensively. There are also more elite places, restaurants and grill bars. In some restaurants, such as Eden, culinary dishes of Caucasian cuisine are accompanied by live music. And for those who want to dance there is a small dance floor. If you prefer to cook yourself, the products can be purchased at grocery stores or at the market.

The question “where to eat?” does not usually occur in Sukko

The most favorable period for a holiday in Sukko is the summer months, and a positive aspect during this period is the clean sea, which does not bloom in hot weather, as in some places in Anapa. This attracts vacationers. Therefore, although Sukko is considered a quiet village, quite a lot of people gather here at the height of the season. But during the “velvet season” the beaches are more deserted, and the sea still maintains a comfortable temperature.

The holiday season in Sukko lasts from May to September

In any case, a holiday in Sukko is unlikely to disappoint. This is evidenced by numerous reviews from vacationers who really like it here and dream of returning here again.

Su-Psekh and descent to the sea

So, the city beaches of the high coast of Anapa from the south smoothly flow into the pebble coast of the village of Su-Psekh. An amazing structure also descends here - a staircase of 800 steps, along which you can overcome the steep descent to the sea. Read about the sights of the village and recreation in it here.

There is no beach in Supsekha due to the presence of a steep rocky crumbling shore and sharp stones covering it, the same stones at the entrance to the water. This is what the coast looks like with these stones:

The beaches of Sukko and Bolshoi Utrish with medium-sized sea pebbles, a good sandy bottom of normal depth and clean water are a favorite vacation spot for many Anapa residents and resort guests.

However, getting to these beaches from the city is far and tiring, so if you like the nature of the places of Sukko and Utrish, settle in these villages; the choice of housing is huge: rooms, boarding houses, mini-hotels are always waiting for you at very reasonable prices. At the height of the season (July 2016) from 500 rubles/day per person - less than in Anapa itself.

Getting to both beaches from the city by public transport is not difficult: bus No. 109 will take you there in about 30 minutes. A stop at the Varvarovskaya Shchel beach is available upon request; those who take the 109 should take note and warn the bus driver.

    Sights and entertainment in Sukko

Sukko is a fairly small village with a population of just over three thousand people. No special historical events took place in these places, and therefore there are no significant historical or architectural attractions here. But many tourists go to Sukko to see its unique natural attractions and those artificially created specifically for tourist entertainment.

    Cypress Lake

The most famous natural attraction of the village of Sukko is, of course, Cypress Lake. This unique artificially created reservoir with swamp cypress trees growing in it, listed in the Red Book, attracts many tourists every year.

Rarely does any region boast of the presence of such water giants

First of all, in Sukko, tourists want to see hundred-year-old giants living in an aquatic environment. In addition, on the shores of this legendary lake, you can have a good rest and spend an unforgettable day. After all, there is a beach on the lake with an equipped embankment, with changing rooms, sun loungers, umbrellas, etc. Here you can rent a gazebo with a barbecue for a picnic, go fishing or just walk through the forest, saturated with the aroma of juniper. There is a cafe and a children's playground, boat rentals and even a zipline attraction.

More detailed information about the legends of the lake, its unique swamp cypress trees, as well as the range of tourist services can be read here.

In autumn, swamp cypresses turn bright red

The presence of such uniqueness as Cypress Lake in Sukko, which attracts tourists, has pushed local entrepreneurs to create creative entertainment centers in its immediate vicinity. Thus, today a visit to the lake can be combined with a visit to theatrical performances in the African Village or in the medieval castle “Lion's Head”.

There are many entertainment centers near Cypress Lake

    African village

While vacationing in the village of Sukko, or in Anapa, you can visit the African continent in one day. And for this you don’t even need to purchase a passport or apply for a visa. The fact is that a little more than ten years ago, in the vicinity of the village of Sukko, very close to Cypress Lake, an almost real African village appeared. No, this is not the residence of the African aborigines who moved here. This stylized village, consisting of African huts and wooden idols standing here and there, is the backdrop for daily dance and theatrical shows.

The stylized African village enchants visitors with its aura

But the artists of this theater, called “Rhythms of Africa,” are indeed real residents of the Congo, demonstrating to tourists real black songs and dances. Touching this exotic culture, the energy and temperament of these artists leaves no one indifferent. After all, such a close acquaintance with previously unknown musical instruments, ritual movements, bright masks and makeup, colorful jewelry and headdresses is more than interesting.

And African artists captivate with their sincerity and enthusiasm

The three-hour performances consist of stage, dance and song numbers. Theatrical scenes are usually dedicated to real fragments from the life of Africans, for example, hunting in the jungle. Song performances can be quite lyrical and even performed in Russian. And the Latin American dances performed in one of the departments are so fiery that the audience is unable to sit still. By the way, spectators can actually dance during intermission when music is played in African rhythms.

To dance in a real African village - many have never even dreamed of this

Performances at the African Village can be seen from May to September on any day except Tuesday. Moreover, the daytime show is designed for family viewers, but the evening shows, starting at 20 o'clock, are aimed only at adults. To get a better look at the village and take memorable photos, it is better to arrive a little earlier than the start of the performance.

    Adventure Park "Braveheart"

    Rechnoy Lane, 8

On the way to or on the way back from the African Village, you can stop by the rope town, which is part of the Braveheart Amusement Park. Here you can not only test your strength and endurance, but also recharge your batteries with vigor and good mood.

The rope town of this park is one of the largest in the Anapa region. It has routes of four difficulty levels. The first one is for the youngest and beginners. The second is for teenagers and family playthroughs. Third and fourth for adults who have successfully completed the second level.

You can stay longer in the rope town!

In addition to the creative and safe Rope Town, in the shady area of the park there is the opportunity to play Paintball or its variation - laser tag, shoot in a crossbow shooting range, and have fun in a creative workshop. Organized quests are also held here, gazebos for picnics are rented, and there are excellent areas for photo shoots.

If you don't want to go to the rope town, you can play laser tag

There is also a pond in the park where you can fish. And for those who decide to stay here for a few days, there is a hotel. Braveheart Park is open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Entrance to its territory is free.

    Lion's Head Castle

In close proximity to Cypress Lake you can visit not only the African village, but also get to the medieval city. Of course, it is also stylized, which in no way makes it less attractive.

The walls of the Lion's Head castle are very similar to the real ones

At the Lion's Head Castle, visitors are surrounded by an atmosphere of medieval romance associated with the Crusades, knightly tournaments, valiant deeds and beautiful ladies.

The main show, for which vacationers come here not only from Sukko, but from Anapa and Novorossiysk, is the knightly battles. This vibrant performance features real actors and stuntmen, magicians and acrobats, and, of course, beautiful horses. During breaks, competitions are held for spectators. For example, tug of war or choosing a beautiful lady.

There are real medieval showdowns taking place on the castle grounds

In addition to watching the equestrian stunt show, visitors can walk around the castle grounds, surrounded by an 8-meter wall and visit the gloomy Torture Museum

    for heretics, the medieval
    Forge
    and
    Pottery
    .
Those who want to feel like Robin Hood can shoot with a bow and crossbow at the shooting range
, and those who want to have a snack can eat in a real medieval
    Tavern
    .

There are special places for photo sessions, and even the opportunity to take pictures in knight's armor. To remember your visit to the medieval castle, you can purchase a souvenir in the souvenir shop

    .

A map and signs will help you navigate the castle grounds.

If you want to visit this castle, you should keep in mind that knightly tournaments are held twice a day. The evening show differs from the morning one by adding fire effects and is more spectacular. But a ticket for an evening show is more expensive, and getting back at night without your own car is quite problematic.

The night show is much brighter and more spectacular than the daytime show

It is better to find out about the times of tournaments on the official website of the castle, and you must keep in mind that the castle is closed on Mondays. You need to get here the same way as to Cypress Lake, but at the fork, turn right following the sign.

    Beach holiday

The main type of recreation in any Black Sea place is, of course, a beach vacation. As already mentioned, the length of the beach in Sukko is not very long - about a kilometer. The coastline is covered with large pebbles, which, on the one hand, requires the purchase of beach shoes, and on the other hand, ensures the cleanliness and transparency of the water.

Unlike most Anapa beaches, the descent into the sea here is quite fast, which is not very convenient for vacationers with children. But there are almost no waves here. Also, when choosing a beach area, it is advisable to stay away from the mouth of the Sukko River. As in other resorts in the Krasnodar Territory, in such places the water is more cloudy and polluted.

The beach strip stretches from Mount Sukko to Soldatskaya Mountain

Part of the beach area of the village is departmental and belongs to the All-Russian Children's Camp "Smena". It is quite possible to relax here, but you must keep in mind that if they bring children, they will have to make room for them.

The range of entertainment attractions on the beaches of Sukko is not as rich as in Anapa. But both on the village beaches and in the Amusement Park, children will find plenty of things to do. Adults can go hiking, diving, quad biking or fishing, etc. And if you want to feel the drive of the resort bustle, then you can go to Anapa for one day.

Attractions on the beaches of Sukko appear only at the height of the holiday season

Diving tours are especially famous in Sukko. What local tour operators don’t offer to see is sunken ships, planes, tankers and even military attack aircraft.

    Mountain trekking

As already mentioned, the village of Sukko is located in a river valley between two low mountains Sukko or Economic (120 meters) and Soldatskaya (186 meters). In addition, the village adjoins the unique natural reserve “Bolshoi Utrish”, which borders it on the north-eastern side. Wildlife lovers can spend hours walking along the low mountain ridges of the protected area, where Pitsunda pines and junipers, pistachio trees and other relict trees and shrubs grow.

From Sukko you can go to the Bolshoi Utrish Nature Reserve

During such relaxing walks along the mountain paths of the reserve, you can fully enjoy the views of local vegetation and their amazing aroma.

You can also go to the mountains directly from the beach. The mountain paths are not steep, and even small children can handle the climbs. And the views from small, but still high, heights are simply mesmerizing.

The climb to Mount Sukko or Economic starts right from the beach

The mountains surrounding the beach area do not have much vegetation, and climbing them is carried out solely for relaxation and a sightseeing tour of the surrounding area. Very often, romantics climb the mountain to watch the sunset.

The view from Mount Sukko is beautiful at any time of the day

    Lion's Head Castle

The castle was built in medieval style and can accommodate 1,200 spectators. Inside the castle, professional actors dress up as knights, fencers and tightrope walkers and perform an enchanting show that attracts tourists from all nearby cities.

In this place, everything is imbued with that time, they show beautiful fire shows, princesses in ball gowns dance medieval dances, and conduct knightly battles on horseback. There is a place to eat outside where all the food is prepared in the open air. There is also a museum of medieval torture in this place. They also conduct master classes for those who are interested in pottery.

An excellent place to spend free time with children, as everyone is delighted with the performance and the beautiful view of the castle, where you can really plunge into the Middle Ages. There is also a small zoo, which will also be interesting for children.

What to see in the vicinity of Sukko

From the village of Sukko, vacationers primarily make one-day trips to Anapa. In this central city of the resort area there are many places that you can visit, both attractions and entertainment centers in the form of Water Parks, Oceanariums, Dolphinarium, etc. More detailed information about what you can see in Anapa can be found here.

It’s a great pleasure to walk along the long and well-maintained Anapa embankment

Anapa also has amusement parks, beautiful rose gardens and light and music fountains. You can read about all the parks and squares of Anapa, as well as its beautiful Embankment here.

How to come to Sukko from Anapa or, conversely, go to Anapa? If you don’t have your own car, you will have to use local minibuses or buses, or even taxi services. However, minibuses are often quite crowded and in this regard are not very convenient. If you just want to ride around the surrounding area, you can rent a bike, preferably a mountain bike.

You can also ride horses in the area around Sukko.

In addition to Anapa, you can visit the neighboring village of Bolshoi Utrish, where you can go to the Dolphinarium or the Black Sea Study Center. If you have your own car, you can go to Novorossiysk or Abrau-Durso. Any chosen direction and any route will bring many indelible impressions.

    How to get there?

Sukko is located on the Black Sea coast, 15 km south of Anapa , accessible by train or plane. In 2016, flights from Moscow were very inexpensive - from 5-6 thousand round trip. In 2022, S7 and VIM-Avia offer flights from Moscow and St. Petersburg for 8-10 rubles.

From Anapa: by bus 109 , which goes to Sukko or further, to Bolshoi Utrish . The closest stop to the sea is the Smena , then the bus passes through the entire village along Central, and then along Sovetskaya Street, up the valley of the Sukko River (those buses that go to Utrish do not call at Central). Travel time from Anapa to Smena is about half an hour.

    Reviews from tourists

We had a great vacation by the sea in Sukko at the beginning of August! We often remember our visit to the show “African Village”. It was interesting and informative for us to learn the customs and rituals of African tribes. The program numbers are arranged logically, artistic abilities are at a high level. We are grateful for a lot of bright emotions and impressions. Everything is great!!!

    Features of the coastal zone

In the entire Anapa region you will not be able to find pebble beaches, except in the Sukko Valley. Of course, lying on warm sand is always more comfortable. However, pebble beaches have their advantages. The first of them is clean and clear water, which pleases vacationers with its blue even in the midst of the summer season. And this is noted by many tourists who visited the beach in Sukko. Photos and reviews from vacationers (taken under the pictures against the backdrop of blue sea waves) confirm this positive side of the pebbles.

In addition, beaches strewn with small wave-polished pebbles are often called natural spas. Here vacationers warm up their bodies on the pebbles, enjoying the sound of the surf. Women who have visited Sukko beach usually leave positive reviews of such procedures. However, they advise taking a towel with you to make your stay more comfortable and to prevent pebbles from staining your swimsuit. Men prefer to sit directly on the stones, which allows them to warm up their muscles as much as possible.

Not only adults, but also children enjoy visiting the beach in Sukko. Reviews from parents note that their children remain clean all day, even building castles from pebbles on the coast or laying out mosaics from them.

The beaches of Sukko are very healthy. When a person walks on them, he simultaneously massages his feet. This healing procedure can cure many diseases, even such complex ones as bronchial asthma and epilepsy, headaches and flat feet. Well, those who simply lie on sun-warmed pebbles receive a positive massaging effect on the blood and lymphatic vessels of the skin.

    Infrastructure

In Sukko there are many boarding houses (“Ivushka”, “Gold Coast”, “Aurora”), sanatoriums, holiday homes, recreation centers and children’s camps (camp “Smena”), including those left over from the times of the USSR, and those built relatively recently.

The social infrastructure of the village is represented by a kindergarten, a school, a first-aid post, and small shops. All types of communications are available in Sukko, including the Internet.

    Beaches of Bolshoy Utrish

The beach of the village of Sukko merges with the beaches of Bolshoi Utrish, which closes the chain of beaches in the Anapa resort.

From the central square of the village we go down a little and further along the stairs. And the sea will open its arms before you:

The beach is fine pebble, with clear water and a pleasant bottom, but the entrance is slightly blocked with large round stones. The depth is good, so it’s better to swim immediately upon entering, so as not to slip on these stones.

The beach area is stylishly decorated with these reed umbrellas:

Another disadvantage of this beach is its small size and during the high season there is nowhere for an apple to fall. It is so densely overloaded.

This year 2022, on the date of June 14, the water has already warmed up to +21, surprisingly clean, cool, the beach is relatively spacious... for now.

Bolshoi Utrish is a nature reserve and is valued for its relict vegetation - pine trees, junipers, listed in the Red Book. The air in Bolshoi Utrish is unique and the beach and sea match it.

The village itself is small, its center is compressed, so both motorists and vacationers feel crowded on the embankment. Absolutely all parking lots in Bolshoy Utrish are paid. During the season, the problem of parking is great, sometimes even paid parking lots are all occupied, you have to move into the very depths of the village, away from the sea.

On the left side of the cape and the dolphinarium there is another narrow strip of pebble beach, not exceeding 3-5 meters. This is exactly its minus. But accordingly there are fewer people here. However, some unsettled conditions, insufficient comfort of the place and the nearby buildings, eateries and snack bars reduce the level of this beach. For me, it’s better to walk a little further over the rocks to get to a wild natural beach.

Further, the organized beaches of Bolshoi Utrish turn into wild beaches for lovers of unorganized recreation, tourists, fishermen, “tent campers,” and people vacationing alone.

After walking 700 meters along the shore, you find yourself on a nudist beach that spontaneously arose in this quiet corner of Bolshoi Utrish. Well, he has the right to be.

Further along the coast, along rather impressive rocks, we reach several lagoons - very quiet, almost uninhabited places with golden sand and clear water. The water in them warms up earlier than in the sea. But getting there, of course, is not so easy; you will have to walk 2-3 and 5 km from Big Utrish and then almost to Small Utrish. You can resort to the services of boatmen and cutters who will take you to any place on the coast for your money and even pick you back at the appointed time.

The sparseness of these places can be explained very simply: this sea coast is the only road towards Maly Utrish. Of course, there are winding paths on land, on top of the rocky slopes inside the reserve; we tried to go there, but not knowing the route, we failed. Great ruggedness of the landscape, almost sheer slopes, crumbling slopes, impenetrable thickets...

That is why most often those who want to get to Maly Utrish resort to the services of boatmen.

Bolshoi Utrish is home to a well-known and popular open sea dolphinarium at the resort; its dolphins often swim beyond its boundaries into the open sea. So there is a chance of meeting these cute, smart animals.

This concludes the selection of articles about the beaches of the Anapa resort. You can talk a lot about the advantages and disadvantages of both the Black Sea and its beaches. But one thing is certain: the sea is an exceptional natural gift, use it and be grateful to nature for its amazing creation!

PS An amazing phenomenon was observed today, July 6, 2022 in Sukko. The night was cool, atypical for Anapa at that time, in the morning it began to warm up and we went to the beach. We were there around 10 am and it seemed somehow strange that NO ONE was swimming at all, only one daredevil was floundering near the shore, the beach was full, everyone was sunbathing.

The water was crystal clear, a small wave gently rolled the pebbles.

I decided to take a dip and immediately jumped out: the water was colder than ever. After about 40 minutes, I risked taking a plunge again, but I couldn’t stand it for more than 15-20 seconds, as if thousands of needles had stuck into me. I jumped out of the cold back. The water temperature did not exceed 14 degrees, even in May the sea was warmer. What kind of phenomenon??? That same mixing of cold and warm currents did not happen and only the cold one showed itself? Black Sea, you surprise me!!! Where is the beach holiday? Where is the hour-long floundering in the water? When will the sea be warm in the summer of 2022?

    A little history

Translated from Adyghe, the name “Sukko” means “valley of water”. In ancient times, the territory of the modern village was inhabited by Sindhi tribes. Later, replacing each other, various mountain tribes lived here: Circassians, Circassians, Natukhaevites, who annoyed the Russians with constant predatory raids. This happened until 1869, when Russian troops managed to expel the villains from these lands. After that, this area was given into the hands of invaders only once - during the Second World War. Many years have passed since then, and now Sukko is a famous Russian resort.

    Varvarovskaya Shchel Beach

    44.798530, 37.369096.

This section of the coastal edge is the northernmost of the mentioned trinity. It begins at the mouth of the Shingar River. Based on the relief and the name of the nearby village, this part of the ridge was called Varvarovskaya Shchelya. Stretches from Varvarovka to Central.

This recreation opens up the most picturesque views of the canyon facing the sea. Another highlight is the rare relict trees that are easy to spot on the slopes of the local mountains. Pebbles are relatively medium in size. Entry into the water is comfortable, but quite deep. The sea here is clean - the location is quite uncrowded. But here they rent catamarans and jet skis. Changing rooms are available.

You can view water tracts on the Internet - in numerous photos. The beaches of Sukko, according to the notes of “experienced” people, have a fairly deep entry and are not yet equipped enough to swim and sunbathe here with small children. However, they are attractive to lovers of cleanliness and silence, and especially nudists. There is only one way to get to the wonderful bank - by reaching the village along the highway into which the street turns. Kalinina in the village of Varvarovka. The latter begins immediately beyond the southern outskirts of Supsekh. The beaches of Sukko are the most picturesque section of the coast between Anapa and Cape Utrish. It's worth coming here at least once!

    Where to go with children

If there are children in the company, they recommend visiting an excursion and entertainment center, where all visitors will be involved in an interesting performance from which no one will remain indifferent.

Children will most enjoy spending time at sea

Another interesting place and entertainment is the Lion's Head Castle, on the territory of which you can watch various knightly tournaments and feel like a master of pottery. Also in the “Lion's Head” you can visit the torture museum, where you can touch real products of torture that have survived to this day and even take pictures in clothes for knights and a chastity belt.

Children will be very interested in the dolphinarium, where you can see dolphins, sea lions and Beluga whales. Photos can be taken with dolphins for an additional fee. The Dolphinarium is interesting because it is located not in a pool, but in a fenced sea.
