The best attractions of the Sverdlovsk region with photos and descriptions

Perhaps, on our website Avtobrodyaga.ru, there is more information about the natural, urban and other attractions of the Sverdlovsk region, compared to other regions of the Urals. Of course, the Sverdlovsk region, and in particular the city of Yekaterinburg, is our native, home region. But even in our home region there are many interesting places that we have not yet visited.

We are slowly, to the best of our ability and strength, trying to “close” the white places on our personal travel map... In the meantime, I will try to make for you a selection of interesting places in the Sverdlovsk region that can be reached by car.

Mount Mare's Head, Kyrman Rocks

The route to one of the interesting mountains of the Sverdlovsk region - Mount Kobylya Golova and the Kyrman Rocks - is ideal as a weekend hike for the whole family.
The mountains are easily accessible to unprepared tourists: the tops of the rocky outcrops of the mountains are easy to climb. The route is designed for all-terrain vehicles, but is also suitable for ordinary passenger cars. In this case, you can leave your car just outside the village of Ayat and walk. From Ayati to the rocks it is about 5 kilometers. The distance from Yekaterinburg to the Kyrman Rocks is about 60 km.

Nizhnyaya Sinyachikha - museum reserve of wooden architecture

One-day car route to the village of Nizhnyaya Sinyachikha - a museum reserve of wooden architecture.
The village of Nizhnyaya Sinyachikha was founded back in 1680 next to the busy Sovereign Road, which connected the European part of Russia and Siberia. Today in the village there is a museum of wooden architecture, which displays courtyards and peasant estates from the 17th to 19th centuries, as well as interesting “public” buildings: a forge, a fire and watchtower, a mill.

The Museum of Wooden Architecture, located in the Sverdlovsk region, will be of interest to both children and adults interested in the history of their native land.

The route is designed for standard cars, the duration of the route is one day. The distance from Yekaterinburg is about 160 km.

Architecture of the Sverdlovsk region

The Sverdlovsk region has a surprising number of extraordinary architectural objects. Many of them, of course, are located in the capital of the region - Yekaterinburg. In this ancient city I would especially like to highlight 2 architectural attractions .

  1. The first of them is the Sevastyanov House , located on the banks of the river. Iset at Lenin Ave., 35. This is an indescribably beautiful building, “born” in the 19th century. It is very elegant and festive, richly decorated both outside and inside, and decorated with beautiful stucco molding.
  2. Another building that we would like to especially note is the Rastorguev-Kharitonov Estate , the creation of which dates back to the 18th – 19th centuries. The territory of the estate is very vast. The building itself is made in a classical style, but due to its asymmetry, it looks quite unusual. The estate is surrounded by a beautiful park with many ancient and rare plants; there is also an artificial lake with an elegant rotunda.

Sevastyanov's House

Rastorguev-Kharitonov estate

You will find this amazing building at the address: st. Karl Liebknecht, 44.

In the Sverdlovsk region there are still many noteworthy architectural monuments outside of Yekaterinburg:

  • In the town of Nevyansk there is a unique Nevyansk Tower . Thanks to its inclined shape, it resembles the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa.
  • In Verkhoturye there is the Verkhoturye Kremlin , the first buildings of which appeared back in 1598.
  • In addition to the “Kremlin,” Verkhoturye is home to many beautiful ancient temples and churches, for which it was nicknamed the “Ural Jerusalem . Here you can see such unique buildings as the Spaso-Nicholas Monastery , Holy Cross Cathedral , Trinity Cathedral and many others.

Speaking about the architecture of the Sverdlovsk region, undoubtedly, one cannot ignore the most mysterious object - Ganina Yama . Initially it was a gold mine, but since the idea of extracting valuable ore was unsuccessful, it was soon closed. Ganina Yama gained its sad fame thanks to the burial of the remains of the royal family here in 1918, after which this place is considered holy.

Now this is an amazing temple complex, which includes temples in honor of:

  • Royal Passion-Bearers (the myrrh-streaming cross is kept here);
  • Iveron Icon of the Mother of God;
  • St. Venerable Sergius of Radonezh;
  • St. Venerable Seraphim of Sarov;
  • "Sovereign" icon of the Mother of God;
  • St. Righteous Job the Long-Suffering;
  • Saint Nicholas.

In addition to the architectural attractions described above, in the Sverdlovsk region we recommend seeing:

  • Church on the Blood (Tolmacheva St. 34a);
  • Alexander Nevsky Cathedral (Zelenaya Roshcha St., 1);
  • White Tower (Ordzhonikidze Avenue, 8);
  • Church of All Saints of the Urals and Siberia (Merkushino, Verkhotursky district).

Rocks Devil's settlement

The Devil's Settlement rocks are a weekend route suitable for any time of year, including winter walks with the whole family.
The place is interesting, actively visited by both hikers and tourists traveling on ATVs, snowmobiles and cars; the paths are well-trodden at any time of the year. The road is a grader (in winter, as a rule, it is knurled, but not cleared), the distance from Yekaterinburg is about 35 km.

With all-terrain vehicles you can climb to the foot of the cliffs, but the upper part of the climb is quite steep and, especially in the rainy season or during heavy snowfall, travel is difficult. In this case, cars can be left at the turn to the rocks and walked, a distance of approx. 700 - 800 meters.

What to see in Yekaterinburg, Tyumen and Ufa

Memorable places of Yekaterinburg

Sevastyanov's House

The Middle and Southern Urals are not only numerous natural monuments, but also large cities with a busy rhythm of life. While waiting for your flight from Yekaterinburg, you can take a busy walk through local memorable places. Among them are the beautiful Butterfly Park, Kharitonovsky Garden, the Literary Quarter and the Path of Love, and the Red Line tourist route. The city is home to a large number of valuable architectural monuments, such as the Sevastyanov House and the Borchaninov-Pervushin Mill. There is also a memorial sign-obelisk “Europe-Asia”. Also in Yekaterinburg it is worth visiting the Boris Yeltsin Center, the Museum of Military Equipment (located outside the city), and the Museum of the History of Stone-Cutting and Jewelry Art. The most beautiful view of the city and surrounding area opens from the observation deck of the Vysotsky skyscraper.

Excursions and entertainment in Tyumen

Alexander Garden

Tyumen offers its guests a large selection of excursions and entertainment. One of the favorite vacation spots of the townspeople is the pretty Siberian Cats Square. Its name has a close connection with the history of besieged Leningrad, where during the war years thousands of cats were sent from Tyumen to fight rats. While spending a day in Tyumen, it is also worth visiting the Alexander Landscape Park, Tsvetnoy Boulevard, and the Bridge of Lovers. Among the most beautiful architectural monuments are the Regional Philharmonic, the building of the Commercial School and the museum-estate of the Kolokolnikov merchants, the Temple of the Savior, the Ushakov House, the Popova House, and Gostiny Dvor.

Monuments and museums of Ufa

Museum of Archeology and Ethnography

If your way home runs through the capital of the Republic of Bashkortostan, you can also see and learn a lot of interesting things here. Ufa is known for its cultural and architectural monuments. The Friendship Monument, the Seven Girls fountain, the Lyalya Tulip Mosque are some of them. The 22-meter grandiose monument to Salavat Yulaev is very famous far beyond the borders of Ufa. Its observation deck offers a picturesque view of the district. While waiting for your flight, you can go on an excursion to the Ufa Limonarium or the Museum of Mineral Resources. Don't miss the chance to look at the works of the famous futurist artist David Burliuk, as well as the collection of Sarmatian gold in the Museum of Archeology and Ethnography.

The list of beautiful places in the Middle and Southern Urals can be continued endlessly. Every tourist will find something of his own here and get maximum impressions from this beautiful region, which really has something to surprise its guests.

The Ural region is good at any time of the year. If you wish, you can go on an exciting trip both in the warm months and in winter.

Waterfall on the Shata River

A weekend route to a waterfall on the Shata River - one of the interesting and few waterfalls in the Sverdlovsk region.
The total height of the rapids of the Shata waterfall is about five meters. The waterfall is located on the small river Shata, flowing through the village of the same name.

In the vicinity of the waterfall there are clearings where you can have a picnic; it is also suitable for families with children.

The weekend route is designed for standard passenger cars. The distance from Yekaterinburg to the Shata waterfall is about 115 km.

Natural monuments

Mount Iremel

Mount Iremel

Of course, these are not all the beautiful places that the Middle and Southern Urals can surprise you with. The picturesque Iremel mountain range is famous for being home to the second highest peak of the Southern Urals. During the climb to the top, tourists will experience the change of four altitude zones at once. Each of them is characterized by its own vegetation, from alpine meadows to mountain tundra with dwarf trees. Closer to the top you can find cold deserts. The picturesque point of Iremel is the Sacred Mountain, shrouded in secrets and riddles since ancient times. Today the peak is popular among fans of sports hikes and trekking, as well as numerous esotericists who call the Sacred Mountain on Iremel a place of power.

Of no less interest is the natural park of the same name “Iremel”, which is located on the border of Bashkortostan and the Chelyabinsk region. There are many numbered routes throughout the park. This makes it the best place for long hikes and trekking. Hiking along Iremel is a great way to admire the beautiful scenery and recharge your batteries.

Olenyi Ruchi Natural Park

Olenyi Ruchi Natural Park

Another picturesque park-reserve is “Oleniy Ruchi” in the Sverdlovsk region (Middle Urals). Beautiful at any time of the year, the natural park, located on the Serge River, attracts tourists from Russia, as well as other countries. Visitors are greeted by stunning landscapes, but a beautiful view is not the only thing people come to Oleniye Ruchi for. During archaeological excavations, traces of ancient human settlements dating back 15,000 years were discovered here. Popular places in the park are the Great Karst Sinkhole, the Druzhba Cave, the Tarzanka and Pisanitsa rocks with their thousand-year-old rock paintings.

Hole stone

Of particular interest to lovers of history and archeology is the Dyrovaty Kamen, an interesting place in the area of which a whole series of cultural layers have been discovered. Research by scientists has shown that the age of the oldest layer discovered on the Hollow Stone is about 14,000 years. The Middle Urals really know how to surprise.

Chusovaya River

Chusovaya River

The picturesque natural park in the valley of the Chusovaya River is loved by many connoisseurs of the beautiful nature of the Middle Urals. This place is known for its numerous rocks, caves, and natural monuments. The park is visited annually by many professional rafters, for whom “route No. 58” is laid here, connecting Yekaterinburg with the city of Chusovaya. In the park you can see endless picturesque forests (coniferous and deciduous), which are home to more than 150 species of birds. The park area is one of the valuable natural complexes. Therefore, tourists are prohibited from making fires or setting up tent camps in any places other than specially equipped parking areas. It is also not recommended to leave marked tourist trails and routes, since such carelessness is dangerous for local representatives of rare flora.

Rock complex "Seven Brothers"

Rock complex "Seven Brothers"

The picturesque rock complex “Seven Brothers” is a popular route in the Middle Urals, along which numerous tours, hiking, expeditions and trekking are conducted. The rocks are located on the top of Mount Semibratskaya near the village of Verkh-Neyvinsky (Sverdlovsk region). In addition to them, other picturesque corners in the village are worth seeing - the beautiful Verkh-Neivinsky pond, as well as Lake Tavatuy. You can organize an exciting weekend hike in the surrounding area.

Lake Aslykul

Lake Aslykul

The largest lake in the Republic of Bashkortostan is Aslykul. Mentions of him are found in Bashkir folk tales, songs and other works of folk epic. The visiting card of this place is its picturesque shores, beautiful steep cliffs and cliffs. In the vicinity of the lake there are several mountains, for the panoramas of which this area is loved by numerous tourists. The most beautiful view is of Mount Nuratau, which falls steeply into Aslykul from a great height. In summer, you can live in tents on the lake or comfortably stay at a local camp site in the village of Kupoyarovo.

Charlama Falls

A few kilometers from Aslykul there is a beautiful Sharlama waterfall - another picturesque place in the Urals. Local tour operators organize weekend tours to the foot of the 12-meter-high waterfall. On a hot summer day, you can take a cold shower here, pleasantly refreshing yourself after a long journey. There is a fee for entry and installation of tent camps, since both the waterfall and Lake Aslykul are located in the territory of a state-protected natural park.

Smolinskaya cave and Revun threshold

In the Kamensky district of the Sverdlovsk region, you can find two iconic points at once - the Smolinskaya cave, as well as the Revun threshold (the only one in the Middle Urals). Considering that both places are located about a kilometer from each other, you can plan a one-day scenic hike here. The beautiful landscape is not the only reason why Howler is of interest to tourists. This is an amazing place that exposed lava flows with an average age of approximately 300 million years. Similar natural wonders in this part of Russia can only be seen in Altai.

Thermal spring of Tyumen

Thermal spring of Tyumen

The healing thermal springs of Tyumen are a great place for relaxation and spa holidays. You can swim in them all year round, because the average temperature here is +36-40°C, regardless of the month. The waters in Tyumen springs are very highly mineralized; natural baths are recommended for the treatment of a variety of chronic diseases. In the vicinity of Tyumen there are several well-equipped thermal baths, both elite and inexpensive. In particular, the price of an adult ticket for swimming in the Wild Spring (35 km from Tyumen) is only 300 rubles for a whole day of rest. Many baths are equipped with swimming pools, hot tubs, massage tables and chairs. Spa treatments are available to guests. Swimming in the local thermal waters is popular both in summer and winter.

Deer farm, Visim

To answer the question of where to go with small children close to home, the Deer Farm, located in the village of Visim, near the city of Nizhny Tagil, is best suited.
At the Deer Farm you can not only see handsome deer - small sika deer and proud handsome deer - but also feed them.

Be sure to take some bread and vegetables with you, especially small or cut into pieces carrots.

The route is designed for standard passenger cars and is suitable for any time of year. The distance from Yekaterinburg is about 170 km.

Palkinsky zakopushki or Verkholovskaya pomegranate mine

Traveling through your native expanses, at some point in time you begin to understand that it would not hurt to add variety to your natural routes.
I think many will find it interesting, and also educational, to mine with their own hands a semi-precious stone, with which the subsoil of the Sverdlovsk region is rich. The original weekend route is Palkinskie zakopushki or Verkholovskaya garnet mine, where you can find real semi-precious stones - garnets. Young treasure hunters will also enjoy the pomegranate mine.

The route is designed for off-road vehicles. Suitable for hikers too. The distance from Yekaterinburg is about 40 km.

Sverdlovsk insiders: new services from the police

There was a trend this week when residents of different cities drew how they saw the map of Russia. We imagined how our fellow countrymen see the country Collage URA.RU

Business trips of Sverdlovsk Governor Evgeny Kuyvashev to Moscow have become so frequent that the elections in September 2022 began to be remembered at the residence. Meanwhile, the head of the region decided on an important personnel issue in the capital. Negotiations, but only in the Sverdlovsk region, are also conducted by his deputy Oleg Chemezov. While high bosses are deciding policy issues, in the outback they suspect that the latest hunger strike, which was brought to the attention of the head of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, Alexander Bastrykin, is not real.

"Insides" are information from our sources that we cannot confirm. But, taking care of the awareness of its readers, URA.RU publishes this unverified information: do not be afraid of rumors - the truth is often worse. Insides represent value judgments, opinions, beliefs, and assumptions of readers on issues of general interest. We do not publish or edit inside information that is offensive.

Plenipotentiary representative upset United Russia

Vladimir Yakushev may miss the regional conference "ER"

They say that the upcoming conference of the Sverdlovsk United Russia may take place without the Ural plenipotentiary Vladimir Yakushev. Party members are whispering that the president's representative has still not given an unambiguous answer about his participation - some sudden plans are to blame. Some high-status United Russia members are discouraged by this uncertainty: they viewed the conference as a chance to personally communicate with Yakushev.

The governor visited Moscow frequently...

At the residence they say that Moscow business trips of Governor Yevgeny Kuyvashev have again become regular - almost like before the elections in September 2021. This week, the head of the region unofficially went to the capital twice and both times, according to rumors, conferred with the federal authorities. Experienced players in Sverdlovsk politics have no doubt: Kuyvashev is receiving new guidelines.

...and promised the mayors a beating

There is information that in the near future Governor Kuyvashev will visit two administrative districts of the region, where he will gather local mayors for meetings. “The conversation will be tough, especially [with those heads] for whom the most complaints have accumulated since December,” the interlocutors warn. And they explain: the leadership of the region is already clearing the agenda of negativity before the gubernatorial elections. According to rumors, Vice-Governor Oleg Chemezov is already preparing an “analytics” for his boss.

The governor discussed changes in Sverdlovsk United Russia

Personnel decisions that will take place in the regional branch of United Russia, they say, were successfully discussed in Moscow. “We are talking about the changes that the governor is going to implement at the party conference. They supposedly have already received approval from the central apparatus of the party. There will be serious rotation at the level of deputies,” says the source, noting that the chairman of the executive committee, Dmitry Zhukov, will most likely retain his place.

Chemezov negotiates before the elections

One of the last negotiations of Vice-Governor Oleg Chemezov is being discussed on the sidelines. “They say that, on the instructions of the governor, he discussed the upcoming elections with the leaders of parliamentary political parties at the federal level,” says the source. The interlocutor draws attention to another rumor. Allegedly, local cells will soon receive instructions on how to behave during the summer political campaign.

Panova and Tretyakov make hints to Chemezov

Rumor has it that the Department of Internal Policy allegedly began sending signals to Vice-Governor Oleg Chemezov so that he began to consult with the head of the department, Anton Tretyakov, on preparing the elections. This is being done, rumor makers assure, in a sophisticated way - through the Rosselban telegram channel, which is now supposedly run by PR woman Aksana Panova. “Chemezov greatly hinders Tretyakov from advancing his multi-million dollar socio-political projects. Tretyakov is not satisfied with the usual technical function,” the interlocutors know.

Therefore, the informants continue, the director of the department authorized his deputy Natalya Gurchenok (allegedly for a promise to “continue to issue her increased bonuses”) to obtain insider information from the vice-governor’s entourage. “They are not interested in the municipal filter procedure,” sources say about the department, adding that the topic is now only bothering Chemezov.

Advisor to Kuyvashev found a new job for his colleague

Claims against Andrei Tsvetkov and his department have been voiced more than once. In July 2022, he was dismissed.

There are rumors that the former head physician of the Sverdlovsk Oncology Center, Vladimir Elishev, could have complained to his friend, the former Minister of the Ministry of Health of the region, Andrei Tsvetkov. “The oncology clinic is a very complex medical institution, the workload is colossal. Elishev complained to his friend and asked him to find another place of work. Andrei Tsvetkov is now an adviser to the governor, and finding a place for his friend will not be a problem for him. Tsvetkov did not refuse his friend: he removed him from the post of the problematic hospital and already prepared options. For now, information about Elishev’s long-term medical career is kept secret,” the source shared.

The Metropolitan wants peace with the governor

They say that Metropolitan of Yekaterinburg and Verkhoturye Evgeny Kulberg is making various attempts to straighten relations with Sverdlovsk Governor Evgeny Kuyvashev. “He would like to get things back on track. They are even discussing that the church authorities are trying to organize a meeting with the head of the region and discuss a plan of joint action,” the source believes.

Rossel thought about the future

Eduard Rossel does not want to leave the Federation Council

Photo: Vladimir Zhabrikov © URA.RU

The public activity of the former Sverdlovsk governor Eduard Rossel is said to be connected with his desire to remain in the Federation Council. “He began to appear more often at events together with the head of the region, Evgeny Kuyvashev. This can be explained quite simply - he wants to extend his senatorial powers. To do this, his name must be included on the ballot. I believe he will succeed,” says the interlocutor.

There's a queue for fishing at Karlov

The medical community of the Sverdlovsk region notes one interesting detail in the regional healthcare management system. “Minister Andrei Karlov is known to be an avid fisherman. They say that some chief doctors are already trying to join the minister during this hobby in order to resolve some work issues in a relaxed atmosphere,” say rumors.

Sheptiy is insuring himself against traitors...

Victor Sheptiy began to build good relationships with the widest possible range of officials

Photo: Vladimir Zhabrikov © URA.RU

They say that the first vice-speaker of the Zakso, Viktor Sheptiy, began to build good relations with the widest possible circle of Sverdlovsk officials and deputies. In this way, rumor makers are sure, the ex-leader of United Russia is insuring himself against the desertion of his closest associates. They say that now Shepty even recruits those with whom he would never have had anything in common before - for example, with the deputy from the “New People” Ivan Zaichenko.

...and tries to maintain influence

On the sidelines they say that on the eve of the regional reporting and election conference of United Russia, its former secretary Viktor Sheptiy became very active. “He is trying to retain as many loyal members as possible in the future political council, although he has very few tools for this,” gossip gossips say.

The Yekaterinburg City Hall is drawing up a plan for the 2023 elections

According to rumors, at the height of the conflict between Mayor Alexei Orlov and Duma Speaker Igor Volodin, the mayor, together with his deputy for politics and media Sergei Plakhotin, allegedly began compiling tentative lists of candidates for the City Duma for the 2023 elections. “Volodin, for example, is not there. As well as some other notable Duma members,” they are discussing on the sidelines of the municipal government.

Deputy Orlov was almost kicked out of the buffet table at school...

Participants in a small buffet at the newly built school No. 167 in the Ordzhonikidze district, where Mayor Alexei Orlov visited this week, retell a funny episode. “At the end of the inspection of the site, one of the local officials asked journalists and other outsiders to leave. Among others, one vice-mayor was shown the exit. You should have seen his rounded eyes,” the interlocutor laughs.

...and the businessman was given a warning there

They say there was something else interesting during that visit. According to rumors, Vice Mayor Rustam Galyamov made it clear to the general contractor of the construction, Oleg Yarulin from the Grand Stroy Insurance Company, who missed deadlines several times, that he was unlikely to be able to qualify for municipal contracts. “I don’t want to see you at city facilities,” witnesses to the dialogue convey the top official’s message.

Sverdlovsk Minister stopped the transfer of workers to the mayor's office

Mikhail Volkov resorted to a hardware maneuver to retain employees

Photo: Vladimir Zhabrikov © URA.RU

The head of the Sverdlovsk Ministry of Construction, Mikhail Volkov, made instrumental efforts to ensure that his employees, after the return of urban planning powers to the Yekaterinburg mayor's office, did not transfer there. “As soon as several employees made it clear that they were most likely leaving for the city administration, Volkov gave them new positions. Whether this is an intrigue against the mayor’s office or a simple desire to retain personnel is unclear,” says the source.

The chief of elections in Yekaterinburg is worried about his career

The Chairman of the Yekaterinburg City Election Commission, Vadim Antoshin, is allegedly seriously concerned about the possible imminent liquidation of the commission. This could happen as early as June, when the current squad expires. In this case, there will be seven TECs in the city, directly reporting to the region. “This prospect puzzles Antoshin - they say he is already looking for options for further employment,” says the rumor maker.

Deputy attacks officials over parking

Taking on illegal parking, Alexey Bubnov encountered opposition

Photo: Vladimir Zhabrikov © URA.RU

One of the deputies of the Yekaterinburg City Duma, who, according to rumors, has several illegal parking lots in the city, criticized the municipal Traffic Organization Center (TOC). Before the New Year, at a meeting of the emergency commission under Orlov, the people's representative stated that the data center could not cope with the removal of seasonal facilities. “It’s simple: in the third and fourth quarters of 2021, the data center eliminated an unprecedented number of strange parking lots. By the way, after the holidays the attack continued, but the focus of criticism shifted generally to [professional vice-mayor Alexey] Bubnov as the curator of the data center,” says a witness to the intrigue.

The new curator of trade in Yekaterinburg evades responsibility

The head of the city committee for the commodity market, Ivan Beskrestnov, appointed in December, demonstrates maximum caution (probably relying on the experience of previous leaders). “He’s avoiding unnecessary responsibility, he’s going to resign from all sorts of municipal commissions so as not to bear the burden of their decisions,” the manager’s colleagues gossip.

The main Sverdlovsk submariner aims to become an adviser to the top manager

Member of the Sverdlovsk Public Chamber, president of the regional underwater sports federation Valery Cherkashin can become an adviser to the future general director of the Middle Urals Development Corporation (KRSU). “At least in private conversations he makes it clear that he would like such a job,” says one of his friends. Earlier it was reported that Cherkashin was thinking about participating in the March by-elections to the Yekaterinburg City Duma.

The fired mayor connected with the police

There are rumors that the former and... O. The head of Beloyarsky, Mikhail Ivanov, who was dismissed at the request of the prosecutor's office, became worried about his future. The official was seriously tensed by the supervisors' hints that he would face a criminal case for fraud with the land. It even got to the point that Ivanov asked for protection from his friends in the Ministry of Internal Affairs - until 2011, he headed the Kamensk-Uralsky police. “But the nature of the crime there is such that it won’t amount to a “criminal” charge,” the informants argue.

Sverdlovsk mayors face an exam

They say that the governor’s administration is developing a new KPI system. “To evaluate the work of chapters, for example, a significant innovation was introduced. They are discussing that their ability to work with public opinion will now be assessed. And in general, they will check whether mayors are ready for public activities, whether they have the skills for such work,” says the source. The interlocutor believes that all this could be useful for mayors, given that gubernatorial elections will be held in the Sverdlovsk region in September.

Rumors are spreading about Pasler

Denis Pasler allegedly returns to the Sverdlovsk region

Photo: Vladimir Andreev © URA.RU

The small but lively circle of the former vice-mayor of Yekaterinburg Ekaterina Kuzemka is said to be actively spreading rumors around the city that ex-Prime Minister Denis Pasler may soon return to the region. “For now, it is allegedly being discussed that he will come here in the status of a top manager of one of the enterprises of the Renova group, and then it is possible that he will actively participate in the political life of the region,” rumors say.

Polyanin left an inheritance

In the governor’s administration, they say, the issue of the former head of the Regional Newspaper, and now the governor’s adviser, Dmitry Polyanin, is being resolved. “What to do with the “financial legacy” of the fired editor-in-chief? Many contracts concluded by him in his own interests look extremely dubious from the point of view of the law,” believes an interlocutor close to the government. He considers it quite possible that even after the dismissal of the media manager, the situation has not yet reached its final resolution.

There will be one less deputy in the Yekaterinburg Duma

Natalya Vetrova may resign from her position as museum director

They say that one of the deputies of Yekaterinburg may soon head the regional museum of local lore. “[Museum director] Natalya Vetrova’s contract is ending soon. And they say that she herself does not want to extend it. Therefore, the government is preparing to select candidates for the position. It is possible that the chair will go to someone from the City Duma,” they believe on the sidelines.

No more bonuses for local headquarters

The informal head of the regional headquarters, Rinat Khazeev, they say, has finally changed his mind about paying bonuses to local headquarters for good results in their work. “He abandoned it at the last moment,” the source said. According to him, one of the explanations was the phrase that the money had allegedly already been spent.

The regional prosecutor does not allow his subordinates to rest

Insiders talk about interesting changes in the life of Sverdlovsk prosecutors. Their boss Boris Krylov, who has been in office for less than a year, set the pace of work to such an extent that the department’s employees practically forgot what rest was. “Previously, at 18:00, the turnstile at the exit was simply spinning without stopping. Now everyone has lights in their offices until nightfall,” the interlocutors are indignant. But they add: Krylov himself stays longer than others.

New services from the Yekaterinburg police

They say that some employees of the Yekaterinburg police department can actively participate in the life of ethnic hooligans from the fourth vegetable warehouse. One of the law enforcement officers allegedly provides services to resolve financial disputes between representatives of the Tajik diaspora, doing this so openly that it caused negative emotions among his colleagues from the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. “He is not embarrassed that his comrades periodically come into view. To put pressure on competitors, this employee even involves riot police officers, carrying out illegal arrests. Many colleagues in the medical department thought that this was due to the checks that took place in the medical institution. But that's not true. The dismissal was agreed upon long ago. Elishev will be offered a less problematic institution,” the informant noted.

Sverdlovsk residents who went on hunger strike actually eat

Employees of the Lotas enterprise who went on a hunger strike say they want to receive wages from two legal entities at once. Allegedly, this is one of the reasons for their action. It turns out that if they received money from the former leader, their salary would have been twice as much,” say rumors.

The war between the head of the Sverdlovsk village and the deputy is gaining momentum

They say that there is a war between the head of the village of Malyshevo (Sverdlovsk region) Maria Rubtsova and the deputy of the Duma of the Malyshevsky urban district Nadezhda Reneva. Women are in a long-term conflict. “Rubtsova does not want to lose her position, and Reneva is looking for shortcomings in Rubtsova’s work as head of the village. Every joint found by Reneva becomes public property. So the story of renovating an apartment for orphans caused a resonance in society, and thereby undermines trust in Rubtsova. Both women stand their ground. They say that there is no end in sight to this conflict,” the agency’s interlocutor shared the rumors.

Mount Konzhakovsky Stone, located in the southern part of the Northern Urals, on the territory of the Sverdlovsk region, is one of the highest and most interesting peaks of the Ural range.
Dunite deposits found at the foot of the mountain, on the territory of the Job Plateau, laid the foundation for the development of a quarry, and as a result, the construction of a road for transporting the extracted material.

Actually, the presence of a road that is not yet closed to ordinary tourists made it possible to carry out a road trip almost to the foot of the Konzhakovsky stone.

The route is designed for SUVs; Nissan X-Trail and Toyota RAV 4 were spotted at the foot of the mountain. The distance from Yekaterinburg to the top of the Konzhakovsky Stone is 475 km, incl. walk about 4.5 km. from the parking lot, on the Job plateau, to the top of the mountain.

Kirovgrad is the leader in the ranking of the smallest in area

The smallest town in size is ancient Kirovgrad: its area is only 10 km². It is believed that Kirovgrad grew out of the small village of Kalatay, which appeared in 1661. However, the official date of formation of the city is considered to be 1808, since it was then that the audit documented its existence. Soon, rich deposits of copper ore and small gold deposits were discovered nearby. During their development, it was possible to obtain a significant archaeological find - the famous Shigir idol. Made from larch during the Mesolithic era, the sculpture is considered the oldest surviving one in the world: its age is about 11,000 years.

Kirovgrad is also known as the birthplace of Russian non-ferrous metallurgy: it was here, at the Kalatinsky copper smelter built in 1914, that the first refined copper in the USSR was produced. However, the deposits were quickly depleted, and by 1941 the plant was mothballed. Before this, in 1932, the settlement received city status, and three years later received a new name: in honor of the famous revolutionary Sergei Kirov, the town was renamed Kirovgrad.

And, of course, there would not be a monument to the man who gave the name to the region - Yakov Sverdlov . This is a fairly old monument, festively opened back in 1927 in the city of Yekaterinburg. The 5.2 m tall bronze monument depicts the revolutionary in his characteristic pose of a slight bend with his arm extended forward. In addition to the monument, the name of the great political figure is also immortalized in the name of Sverdlov Street. A Memorial Museum was also created in his memory .

Did you know? By the way, until 1991 the city of Yekaterinburg proudly bore the name Sverdlovsk.

Viaducts of the Krasnoufimsky district

Of course, actively traveling tourists will not be surprised by bridges - viaducts.
And the more mountainous the area through which a road or railway passes, the greater the likelihood of seeing a bridge of an unusual shape on it. In the Urals, viaducts can be found, perhaps, only in the Krasnoufimsky district of the Sverdlovsk region. Moreover, their concentration in a small area makes it possible to spend a weekend trip.

Each Krasnoufimsky viaduct not only has its own individual interesting appearance, but also its own history.

The route is designed for off-road vehicles, but in the dry season all sites can be easily reached by a regular passenger car. The distance from Yekaterinburg to the farthest viaduct is about 300 km.

Nevyansk - bears the title of the first factory city in history

In second position in the ranking of small towns is Nevyansk, whose area is 17 km². It owes its appearance to Peter the Great, who in 1701 ordered the construction of an iron and iron smelting plant in the Urals. Due to the fact that the settlement began to form around the built enterprise, Nevyansk can be called the first factory city in world history. Also, its development is connected with another famous person: businessman Nikita Demidovich Antufiev. The emperor taught him a lesson in managing the new plant, not suspecting that soon the enterprising Nikita would achieve unprecedented heights, becoming the founder of the Demidov family.

The current city limits were recorded in 2006, when the population was 25,600. In Nevyansk and the neighboring town of Cementnoye there are five large factories operating in the following areas:

  • mechanical engineering;
  • pipe processing;
  • cement production;
  • production of dry mixtures.

In addition, the small town is considered a cultural center of Old Believer icon painting of the mining type. The most famous landmark is the Ural Leaning Tower of Nevyansk, built in 1721 as a family building of the Demidovs, marking their receipt of the title of nobility. Scientists are still debating whether something went wrong during construction, or as a result of subsequent flooding of the basements, but the tower tilted 3° 16′ at its greatest point. The structure is a symbol of the city and was even minted on a commemorative coin of the Central Bank in 2007.
