Where to go in Balashikha – Balashikha, Moscow region, photo of the city
Historical monuments of Balashikha, photos with descriptions of which attract the attention of tourists, can be found throughout the city. The plan of the excursion program depends on how long the guests plan to stay in the region. Balashikha offers to get acquainted with the following objects:
- Temple of the Archangel Michael. The unique structure was erected in the seventeenth century, in 1641. The village territory belonged to the famous boyar Streshnev, who began building a wooden cathedral. Ten years later, the consecrated building was purchased by Prince Dolgoruky. Reconstruction of the temple started in 1767. Luxurious stucco moldings, designer ornaments, icons and elegant facades appeared in the room. Today the building looks excellent;
- Fountain Glyba. A structure with an original form raises a lot of questions among those who see it for the first time. The address of the attraction is Leninsky Prospekt. The boulder monument is a huge round structure with a diameter of six meters. It reaches a height of three meters. In the evening, the structure is illuminated by thirty spotlights. The unique idea looks mystical and unrealistic. It seems as if a huge stone is floating in the air;
- Temple of Alexander Nevsky. The building adorns the city in the central area. It was built in 1894. By the end of the nineteenth century, a small village appeared on the site of the future construction, which was called Nikolaevka. Over the years, the number of residents increased, and they decided to build a small temple next to the cemetery. The church was closed in 1933 and was completely destroyed in the sixties. For many years, local residents have raised the issue of restoring the temple. From 2001 to 2004 a complete reconstruction was carried out;
- Broadway Bridge. The large-scale structure is a connecting link between two microdistricts of the city. To get to the bridge from the eastern region, you need to walk along Zarechnaya Street. A walk along the bridge reminds many of a promenade along the embankment. Locals began calling the bridge Broadway, but the name stuck firmly. Tourists love to stroll here. After dark, cute round lamps turn on and illuminate the bridge, creating a romantic atmosphere. According to legend, if you attach a lock to the bridge and write your names on it, the lovers will live happily ever after.

Balashikha, whose attractions include numerous religious buildings, began its existence in the 7th century BC, from a small settlement on its territory.
Temple of Alexander Nevsky

Balashikha. Sights: Alexander Nevsky Temple.
The first building on the site of the modern temple was built at the end of the 19th century with donations from M.V. Tretyakova, who was the daughter of a landowner living in the Gorenka estate. During Soviet times, the temple was closed and the building was used for storage space.
After a hurricane swept through Balashikha in 1998, ruins remained of the ancient building. At the beginning of the 21st century, construction of a new church building began. In 2006, the new cathedral was consecrated and is still open to parishioners. There is a landscaped park around the cathedral.
Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord
The Spassky Church (named in honor of the Savior Not Made by Hands) is located not far from the Pehra-Yakovlevsky estate at the address: Balashikha-8, Leonovskoe highway, building No. 2. The date of foundation of the cathedral is the middle of the 17th century.
The classical temple was built in European style and equipped with:
- rotundas;
- bell towers;
- iconostasis made in colonial style.
During Soviet times, the temple was looted and partially destroyed. For a long time it housed a library. At the end of the last century, the temple underwent major reconstruction. Local industrial enterprises provided all possible assistance in the reconstruction of the building. Today the temple is used for its intended purpose.
Nikolo-Arkhangelsk Church
The temple is located in Balashikha, on the street. Black road, in house number 16 “a”. It was erected in the middle of the 18th century by order of Prince Yuri Dolgoruky. The temple was built on the site of an ancient estate that previously belonged to an ancient aristocratic family. After the parish burned down in a strong fire in the village of Nikolskoye, the temple began to be called Nikolo-Arkhangelsk.
Surprisingly, the temple has survived to this day in its original form. The temple was built in the unique Moscow Baroque style; there are no other similar buildings in the region. The façade of the building is painted in a bright blue color, making it stand out at any time of the year.

Residents of the village are endowed with an excellent sense of humor. There is no other way to explain how the monument to the Janitor, erected in 2007, ended up on the list of “Attractions of the City of Balashikha.” The description of the purpose of this structure, which is offered by the creators themselves, is that the building extols the hard work of representatives of this profession. About the natural resources of Balashikha, recreation areas and development prospects
A third of Balashikha’s territory is occupied by forests and parks, in which there are more than 60 ponds and lakes. During the Soviet years, Balashikha was included in the forest park protective belt of Moscow. What is the condition of our forest resources?
The forests located on the territory of Balashikha belong to the Noginsk branch of the Mosoblles. Vast forest areas are located both around the territory of Balashikha and within the city limits. These plantings belong to a number of forest parks located on the territory of the Noginsky forestry: Kuchinsky, Gorensky, Ozerny and Saltykovsky (until 2006 they were part of the Balashikhinsky special forestry enterprise), as well as to the Losiny Ostrov national park. This forestry is federal property.
The total area of the Noginsk forestry is 75,182 hectares, of which more than 7,100 hectares are concentrated within the borders of Balashikha. These forest areas, most of which are located along the banks of the Pekhorka River and its tributaries Gorenka, Chernaya and Malashka, are included in the area of responsibility of four district forestries - Saltykovsky, Ozerny, Gorensky and Kuchinsky. The largest of them in terms of area - 2,020 hectares and volume of work performed - is Kuchinskoye.
Senior district foresters and their assistants represent the Noginsk forestry enterprise and provide all forest protection work in forestry on the territory of Balashikha. Their work is supervised by the senior district forester of the Gorensky district forestry, Evgeniy Poplyakov.
“The Noginsk branch of the Mosoblles was organized by order of the Forestry Committee of the Moscow Region in the summer of 2012. The lands of the forest fund of the forestry are located on the territory of four municipal districts, including Balashikha. Administratively, the forestry is divided into 16 district forestries,” said Evgeniy Poplyakov.
FOREST REPRODUCTION
Since 2013, in the spruce forests on the territory of what is now Bolshaya Balashikha, clear sanitary felling of spruce trees destroyed by the typograph bark beetle has been carried out. And since 2014, massive forest plantings have been actively carried out not only by the organizations involved in the competition, but also by caring and active residents as part of regional events: the spring - “Forest of Victory” and the autumn - “Our Forest. Plant your tree."
“Growing a new forest is a matter of time and constant human care. On one hectare of land prepared for planting, 4,100 pine seedlings up to 2 years old are planted. If you don't take care of them, about 500 trees will grow to maturity. Therefore, every year the forestry carries out work to replace and supplement unestablished seedlings. In the urban district of Balashikha, the average survival rate of seedlings is quite good - 78 percent. On sandy soil, pine survives almost 90 percent,” said Evgeny Poplyakov.
In 2022, as part of sanitary and health measures in the territory of Balashikha, sanitary and health measures are planned on the territory of all district forestries. This includes clear sanitary felling on a total area of more than 47 hectares and artificial reforestation on a total area of 33.68 hectares - under the state order and on a total area of 13.88 hectares - under the state contract.
“From 2014 to 2022, young forests were planted, mainly coniferous species: spruce and pine - depending mainly on the type of soil - on an area of more than 1,000 hectares,” said Evgeniy Poplyakov.
“I KNOW THE EDGE! THERE IS THE FOREST BREATHING BREATHLY..."
Now let’s take a look at the forest parks for which Balashikha is famous. Kuchinsky Forest Park is located in the eastern part of the city district and occupies the territory of the forest district of the same name. It got its name from the former Kuchino wasteland. The Pekhorka, Chernaya, Chernavka, Gorenka rivers flow through the territory of the forest park with numerous tributaries, there are lakes and ponds. Among the trees, coniferous species predominate - pine, spruce, linden and birch grow, and in the undergrowth the most common are rowan, buckthorn, hawthorn, and euonymus. And also - rare species of herbaceous plants for the flora of the Moscow region: May lily of the valley, European swimsuit, forest forget-me-not and others. Various species of waterfowl nest on ponds and rivers. On the territory of the forest park, specially protected areas are allocated, constituting more than half of the total area, including swamp complexes that absorb carbon dioxide from the air, and rest zones for the reproduction of animals. The northwestern part of the forest park is bordered by the parks of the ancient estates of Gorenki and PehraYakovlevskoye.
In the northwestern part of Balashikha, on the border with Moscow, there is the GORENSKY FOREST PARK with an area of 1,358 hectares. It received its name from the Gorenka River flowing through its territory - the right tributary of the Pekhorka, which flows into the Moscow River. From the north, the territory of the forest park is separated from the Losiny Ostrov forest area by the Shchelkovsky highway. The forests here consist mainly of coniferous pine-spruce plantations, many centuries old, with deciduous undergrowth. Among the trees, the red oak stands out for its beauty. In the northern part of the forest park there is a small forest lake Dilevo, to the south there is a large Mazurinskoe lake with an artificial dam, and to the east there is a unique mesotrophic swamp, intermediate in the nature of nutrition and vegetation between lowland and raised swamps.
LAKE FOREST PARK is located in the northeastern part of Balashikha. Its area is 1,791 hectares. The forest park is a single forest area stretching from the eastern shore of Pekhorka along the Entuziastov Highway from west to east - 6 km, from south to north - 5.5 kilometers. The underlying sands and clays of the Jurassic period create a water-resistant layer that promotes swamping and the formation of numerous lakes. The vast swamps of the forest park are natural filters that feed rivers and streams. Such areas maintain the ecological balance of the area.
On the territory of the Ozerny Forest Park there are valuable pine forests where relict trees older than 150 years grow. There are natural monuments of regional significance, including the Meshchersky lake-swamp complex, lakes Yushino and Baboshkino, where special piers are equipped for swimming for adults and children. All of these are lakes of natural origin, as are the Krugloe, Kozlovo, and Maryino lakes located not far from each other, which are favored by fishermen. There are many medicinal plants in the forests, raspberries and blackberries, and hawthorn. The fauna is represented by moose, wild boars, martens, hares and squirrels, and occasionally you can see a muskrat. The bird world is represented by various species of ducks, rarer inhabitants are black grouse, hazel grouse, capercaillie and even the green woodpecker.
In hard-to-reach corners of the forest, plants listed in the Red Book of the Moscow Region are still preserved. Exotics - Amur velvet, white acacia, field maple, various types of hawthorn and ornamental shrubs, May lily of the valley.
SALTYKOVSKY FOREST PARK is located in the southern part of Balashikha on an area of 1,012 hectares. The places are incredibly beautiful, attracting many generations of painters. It is known that 19-year-old artist Isaac Levitan, living at his dacha in Saltykovka near Moscow, painted the painting “Evening after the Rain” (1879). It depicts the forest cover of the Saltykovsky forest adjacent to the railway. Currently, this place is located on Zheleznodorozhnaya Street. The name of the forest park is associated with the appearance of a stop, later transformed into Saltykovka station during the construction of the Moscow - Nizhny Novgorod railway, approximately in 1863. Saltykovsky Forest Park consists of five separate forest areas, spaced from each other at a distance of 0.3 to 4 kilometers. The Pekhorka River and its tributaries flow through the territory of the forest park; the decoration is the Zhelty and Tarelochkin ponds. There are 4 springs near the estate. A separate island is represented by an ancient linden park in the Pavlino microdistrict, where there is also a spring. There are also individual oak trees with trunks more than two meters in diameter. The forest park contains natural monuments of regional importance, including the ancient Saltykovka park with cascading ponds and the adjacent forest blocks - 1, 3, 4, 9. Rare butterflies can be found here: the autumn silkworm, the lilac hawkmoth, listed in the Red Book. On the territory of the forest park there are unique burial mounds of the Slavic Krivichi tribe of the 11th-12th centuries, located in groups in the valley of the Pekhorka River.
The forests of the Saltykovsky Forest Park are represented by coniferous and broad-leaved tree stands approaching 100 years of age. The main species that form the appearance of the forest park are pine, spruce, birch, oak and linden.
The OLGINSKY FOREST PARK with an area of 72 hectares, located in the Olgino microdistrict, is also popular among residents of Balashikha. Included in the Saltykovsky district forestry, block 13. The main tree species are birch, oak, spruce, pine. Selective sanitary felling was carried out here in 2022; sanitary measures are planned here in 2022, after which reforestation work will be carried out.
PAVLINSKY FOREST PARK belongs to the Saltykovsky district forestry, block 12. It is the smallest in area - 42 hectares. From the north, the forest park adjoins Keramicheskaya Street, on the opposite side of which is the Pavlino microdistrict.
Initially, the Pavlinsky Forest Park was the park of the Trinity-Kainardzhi estate, which arose here at the turn of the 17th–18th centuries. Then it was called Feninsky Park, which echoed the historical name of the local village of Fenino. Strictly speaking, now only an array of trees, mostly lindens, can be called “Feninsky Park”, among which is the preserved part of the Troitskoye-Kainardzhi estate, which has the status of a cultural heritage site of federal significance. Its glorious history is connected primarily with the name of one of the owners - the brilliant Russian commander, Field Marshal General Count Pyotr Aleksandrovich Rumyantsev-Zadunaisky.
In summer, the Pavlinsky Forest Park is a good place to take a break from the heat. In winter, residents of the Pavlino microdistrict and the village of Fenino enjoy sledding and skiing here, and students from neighboring schools No. 3 and 12 go to competitions.
In 2022, sanitary felling will take place on the territory of the forest park - selective and clear. And in 2022, pine seedlings will begin to be planted in areas where dead wood will be clear-cut
