Tuapse. photos of the city and the beach, attractions, recreation, entertainment, what to see, where to go, coast map, tourist reviews

The small town of Tuapse on the Black Sea coast is a popular place for relaxation and restoration of health, because the climate here is mild, nature is amazingly beautiful, the ecological situation is good, and the developed tourism infrastructure allows you to spend time in a variety of ways (from hiking and diving to museums, parks, water attractions, excursions to caves and waterfalls, clubs and bars).

The Tuapse region began to develop as a resort area during the Soviet period, and currently there are about 300 sanatoriums (often with swimming pools and SPA complexes). Numerous boarding houses, hotels, and recreation centers are located along the entire coast near beaches (mostly pebble), surrounded by picturesque forests and mountains.

The Tuapse region is attractive as a long-term holiday destination also because of the relatively affordable prices for accommodation and food compared to Sochi and Adler and the cleaner sea compared to Gelendzhik.

Holidays with children in Tuapse are becoming more and more comfortable thanks to the installation of special children's playgrounds, reconstruction of attractions and the ability to easily and quickly get to water parks and a dolphinarium located near the city, and go to a children's theater. It is also easy to organize meals for children due to the abundance of cafes (there are also canteens) with simple, tasty dishes of good quality.

The port's annual cargo turnover is 20 million tons of cargo. The seaport also serves vessels with a total weight of up to 55 thousand tons in dry cargo areas and 100 thousand tons in naphthenic areas. The port water area is located on 80 hectares of water surface, which is protected from bad weather by 2,500 meters of fencing.

Dolmens of Tuapse

The most mysterious attraction of Tuapse are the dolmens. Throughout the year, many tourists come here to see the ancient objects with their own eyes.

Location

The dolmens of the Tuapse resort are located in the village of Prigorodny, which is located near Mount Bogatyrka. Mysterious structures are installed on the mountainside, north of the village.

Story

According to data, the megaliths were erected during the Bronze Age, approximately 1300 - 2400 BC. The word “Dolmen” is translated from the Celtic language as “stone table”. There are several types of dolmens in nature; the Tuapse ones are tiled.

Their direct purpose is not known for certain; they could have performed a funeral function, or been a place for various rituals. Many believe that Tuapse dolmens are endowed with special energy. Ancient structures are capable of fulfilling any desire and giving a person strength.

What can you see

The route that connects dolmens is called “The Road to Happiness.” The paths are well-maintained, with trash cans and rest areas throughout.

The cup of life is a stone cavity of enormous size.

Dolmen of Prosperity - due to its size, it is the largest in the Kuban territory; the megalith is carved into the rock.

The rock of wishes is a large slab; in order for a wish to come true, you need to stand in the center and make a wish.

The stone of male power is an elongated vertical boulder. Men should touch it with both hands and ask for good health.

Menhir “Tunnel to the Future” - consists of several vertical menhirs. They are folded in such a way that a tunnel is formed between them. If you believe the legends, after going through it, you can cleanse yourself of negativity.

Dolmen Totem - unfortunately, it was destroyed, its remains are scattered throughout the clearing. You need to touch one of them and read a special spell. The text can be found on the information brochure.

Dolmen of Fidelity - at the site of the portal there is a small protrusion, you need to touch it with your lower abdomen. It has long been believed that it can cure diseases.

In addition to these places in the clearing there are also the Marriage Stone and the Wheel of Fortune. There is also a shop nearby where you can buy souvenirs and information brochures.

Primorsky Boulevard with the pilot office building

The architectural building of 2003 became a landmark for the city. It combines a custom architectural form in the form of a blue glass sphere mounted on a 60-meter-high hexagonal tower and a functional Navigation Control Center. The uniqueness of the structure also lies in the engineering solution - the tower can withstand the load of a magnitude nine earthquake.

Snake Gorge

If you don’t want to spend your entire vacation lying on a well-maintained beach, but, on the contrary, like an informal holiday, then go to Snake Gorge. Here, every year, starting in May, a spontaneous tent camp appears, where informals and creative individuals who love this type of recreation gather. There is also a nudist beach nearby, but this is for very big exotic lovers, so it is not recommended to go there with children.

It is recommended for all visitors to Tuapse to explore the Snake Gorge. It is located on picturesque green hills, and in itself is incredibly beautiful. The sea here is very clean, so it is pleasant to swim in it. There are also wild raccoons constantly running around here, which are very friendly towards people and enjoy with great pleasure the delicacies that tourists leave for them. It is located near the village of Dzhubga. Despite its name, there are absolutely no snakes in this gorge, so there is no need to be afraid of reptiles here.

How to have fun on vacation?

The main attractions of Tuapse and the surrounding area are unique natural reserves, they tell about history, because this is the “City of Military Glory,” and about many famous people who lived or stayed here at different times. In case you are tired of the beach and the sea, we will tell you where to go for an interesting pastime.

Museums

There are three museums in the city:

  • Tuapse Museum of Local Lore named after Poletaev. It provides complete information about the history and development of the city.
  • Kiselev House-Museum. A professor at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts lived and worked here. The exhibition presents many personal belongings of the painter, documents and photographs, copies of paintings in which the artist mainly painted the Caucasus mountains and the Black Sea coast.
  • Tuapse Defense Museum. In it you can find out how the city was defended during the Great Patriotic War. Under constant bombing, people lifted the wounded, food and shells into the mountains, and did not stop repairing naval equipment in the port for a minute. The city was not surrendered to the Nazis. Visitors are moved to tears by the exhibition with wartime letters.

Places for leisurely walks

After a hot day in the evening you have the opportunity to go:

  • To the park of culture and recreation. In addition to attractions, there is a summer cinema; in the summer it often hosts pop concerts.
  • On Primorsky Boulevard, which stretches along the port. It is especially beautiful here at night.
  • On the shady Plane Tree Alley, there are many benches under the canopy of trees, fountains, and the Rossiya cinema, where you can wait out the midday heat while watching a movie.

Kiselev's Rock

This amazing natural place can rightfully be called the calling card of the city. A 46-meter stone cliff protrudes from the shore directly into the sea, it seems that it is smoothly polished.

The second name is the Rock of Tears, as there is a beautiful legend about the love of the girl Guash from a rich family and the poor horseman Dysheek. The girl's parents forbade her to meet her fiancé. Fleeing from the chase arranged by Guasha's father, Dysheyek fell from a cliff into the sea right in front of his beloved. For a long time she came to this place to mourn her beloved. And then, unable to live any longer without Dysheek, she threw herself into the depths of the sea. The Kiselev Rock was named later when the famous painter Kiselyov depicted it in his painting “The Rock of Tears”. This place is located 4 km from the city. You can get here with a boat tour. But it’s much more interesting to walk along the shore along the sea. This picturesque place was chosen by Leonid Gaidai to film one of the scenes of the comedy “The Diamond Arm”. It was here that Andrei Mironov walked along the surface of the sea.

Waterfalls

The unique and most beautiful attractions in Tuapse are its numerous waterfalls.

  • The largest is the Perun waterfall (water falls from a height of 33 meters). Getting there is easy. You need to take the train to Dachnaya station. You will immediately see a suspension bridge, along which you need to cross the river to the opposite bank. And then move along the river upstream. There will be signs along the way; the path to the waterfall passes through a fairytale forest with the purest air. Along the route you come across ancient mysterious structures - dolmens.
  • Waterfalls “Azure”, “Bear”, “Grey Beard” on the Dederkoy River. Take bus route No. 10 to the final stop “Stone Quarry”.
  • “Colonel” waterfalls on the Kamenisty stream near the Polkovnichey farm. This is a whole cascade of several waterfalls of varying beauty, power and height. Take a bus to the Polkovnichy farm.
  • Waterfalls on the Gryaznaya River (“Fan”, “Change” and others). You need to get to the village of Sadovoye, and from there it’s another 13-14 km to the waterfalls. Such a hike takes the entire daylight hours, but gives a lot of positive emotions and impressions.
  • "Blue" waterfalls. They were named so due to the layers of blue clay that come to the surface and give the water a special hue. You will need to take a bus to the village of Indyuk, and from there it will take about 1.5 hours to walk to the waterfalls.

You can go on a tour to the waterfalls or go on your own. It’s easy to get to nearby stations and villages (from the train station by train or regular bus), so we advise you to give preference to an independent hike. It will turn out much more interesting - you can look at everything carefully, stop at any time, take a photo, shoot a video, take a break and relax in a beautiful shady forest.

House-Museum of the artist A.A. Kiselev

Here are kept the personal belongings of the artist, who captured beautiful scenes near Tuapse on his canvases: “Night at the Sea”, “Rock of Tears”, “Kadosh Rocks”. The last picture depicts a rock 4 kilometers from Tuapse, between Cape Kadosh and the village of Agoy. Later this rock received the artist's name. At its foot the filming of the fishing plot of the famous comedy “The Diamond Arm” took place. There are several routes to get to Kiselev Rock. Details in the article “Kiselev Rock, Tuapse.”

The main attractions of Tuapse

Kiselev's Rock

This natural monument of Tuapse became known throughout Russia thanks to three paintings by Russian artist Alexander Kiselev. “The Outskirts of Tuapse”, “Descent to the Sea”, “Kadosh Rocks” brought the artist, who lived at the turn of the 19th – 20th centuries, the fame of a marine painter, and the smooth-walled rock became the calling card of Tuapse. Located at Cape Kadosh, it is part of the protected forest park of the same name.

In Tuapse there is the Kisileva rock. This is a picturesque place where the film “The Diamond Arm” was filmed.

A fishing scene in the film “The Diamond Arm” was filmed at Kiselyov Rock, a popular hiking destination. Another name for this attraction – “Rock of Tears” – was assigned to this object, thanks to the Adyghe legend about unrequited love.

Rosmorport Tower

This is a kind of modern lighthouse, commissioned in 2010. The 6-sided gray tower is topped with a large blue ball, which houses a control base equipped with tracking and navigation systems for ships in the waters of Tuapse and the Black Sea.

The tower in the city center claims to be the most original architectural landmark. Due to its external similarity, it received the name “Chupa Chups” from local residents.

Megaliths of Psynako

Tuapse, whose attractions and entertainment date back not only to modern times, but also to old times, also has an ancient site worthy of attention. The megalithic complex near the suburban village of Anastasievka on the banks of the Psynako River is one of the mysteries of Southern Russia.

These buildings, made of stones and mostly already destroyed, are more than 5,000 years old. Their purpose is unclear, but the exact adherence of the lines of the structures to the direction of the sun's movement across the sky is striking. Some researchers believe that this is a religious building, like the Sun Temple, and its functions are somewhat related to Stonehenge.

Fountain "Stone Flower"

Tuapse, whose attractions and entertainment are sometimes surprising with their unusualness and uniqueness, can rightfully consider the fountain in the city center (Central Square), created in the image of the famous tale of the same name by the folklorist writer Bazhov, as its calling card.

There is a park around the fountain. In 2012, the park was reconstructed, lighting appeared, and the fountain became even more beautiful.

Perun Waterfall

This is a beautiful waterfall formed by the fall of the Kazeny stream from the rocks near the village of Krasnoe. The village is located not far from Tuapse (along the highway towards Maykop, then 30 minutes on foot across the bridge over the Tuapse River and through the forest). It is better to visit the waterfall in spring or autumn when there is a lot of rainfall.

In the off-season, an impressive stream of water falls from a 30-meter height, so naming the waterfall in honor of the supreme Slavic god is more than justified. But in the summer, when the stream practically dries up, looking at the trickle of water, you might think that Perun is some kind of small god.

Overview of all Tuapse beaches

The beaches of Tuapse are ready to receive holidaymakers from May to the end of September. During peak season, the central areas of the resort can be overloaded with tourists and local residents. But literally 3-4 kilometers from the center you can always find calmer and more secluded corners. Tuapse is surrounded by small villages, each of which is famous for its beaches.

Most of the recreation areas of Tuapse and its suburbs are free coast. The coastline is flat, the bottom is sandy, but the coating alternates between pebbles and sand. There are separate coastal areas that belong to sanatoriums and boarding houses. There is an entrance fee here. Wild, unequipped beaches are also not uncommon in Tuapse.

Tuapse makes camping lovers fall in love with its outskirts. The wild beaches here are especially picturesque. This is always a remote area surrounded by rocks and mountain ranges. For example, the beach at Cape Kadosh and at the Kiseleva rock. Even if you're not a fan of camping, it's still worth staying here at least once. Natural grandeur, clean mountain air and amazing vegetation will delight the eye and will not leave any tourist indifferent.

Central Beach

The central beach in Tuapse is not located in the center at all, but in the southeast of the city. It is located at the mouth of the Tuapse River. Its length is about 1300 meters, it ends near the village of Vesna. The covering is pebble-sand. Good infrastructure and free entry make Central one of the most popular beaches.

The coastal territory is conventionally divided into three zones. The main part is located closer to the center and embankment of Tuapse. It has the most developed infrastructure, many bars and cafes. However, as well as along the entire embankment. There is a separate active recreation area. It contains sports grounds and water attractions. Far from the center, the beach turns into a wild recreation area, which is chosen for privacy and tranquility. The seabed here is rocky, making the water seem clearer and cleaner than in the central part of the beach.

Central Beach

Some areas of the coast are viewed by webcams, so you can get to know them in advance. For families with children, we recommend staying in the central coastal area. There is a soft sandy bottom, a smooth entry into the sea and attractions that will delight children of any age. Romantic couples often choose a secluded holiday away from the center, and in the evening they go towards the embankment to unwind.

Seaside beach

The second most popular beach is located in the westernmost part of Tuapse and is called Primorsky Beach. It is also called "Spider" after the name of the river that flows nearby. This is a small area of coastal territory, very picturesque and lively. It is surrounded by high rocks and ledges, and coniferous trees and dense bushes grow nearby. Thanks to the rocks and grove, in the afternoon there is a shady area on the beach that will provide shelter from the sun. The air here is filled with the aroma of pine trees and the salty sea. The surface is pebbly, mostly small pebbles and shells. But closer to the water, sharp boulders come under your feet, so it’s better to take beach shoes with you.

Previously, Primorsky Beach was considered wild. But every year its infrastructure is getting better, so during the peak season there are just as many tourists here as on the Central Beach. Today there are many water activities, there are showers and changing rooms, bars and cafes. The most famous beach bar is “Wild”, whose terrace offers excellent views of the sea. There is a large parking lot for motorists 200 meters from the beach.

Beach at the Kiseleva rock

The 46-meter-high edged rock of Kiselev is the calling card of Tuapse. This unique and picturesque creation of nature is a huge block of stone that seems to grow out of the water. It is covered on top by a green cap of coniferous forest. Filmmakers liked this rock. It was here that a scene from the film “The Diamond Arm” was filmed, where Andrei Mironov’s hero saw a young boy gliding through the water.

The rock was named after the Russian artist Kiselev, who lived nearby and captured the beauty of the area. The second name of the rock is the Rock of Tears. This name is associated with a traditional legend about love: that lovers threw themselves from this cliff into the sea when they realized that their parents wanted to separate them.

Beach at the Kiseleva rock

The beach at the Kiseleva rock is a wild coastal area, which is explored by divers and sunbathers away from prying eyes. Sloping pebble areas give way to rocky outcroppings and reefs. Wind and waves rarely reach here. The coastal area is narrow and very cozy.

You can reach the cliff from Pauk Beach. The road will take more than half an hour; you will have to make your way through large pebbles and large boulders. There are usually few tourists here, so you are guaranteed a secluded and relaxing holiday. In the shade of trees there is a small, well-maintained campsite with a fenced area and parking.

Beach in Primorye

The Grozneft district (southeast) is mainly occupied by factory buildings and old houses; a very busy highway to Sochi passes through it. Not the best option for living. There is a large shopping and entertainment complex "Red Square" here.

The area with the telling name Sortirovka is located around the railway station. Built up with 5-story buildings from the 50s. Located on the right bank of the river (Tuapse) in the direction from the center to the mountains.

The Zvezdny district is located on the mountain slopes and is built up mainly with panel high-rise buildings of 5-10 floors. During the autumn-winter period, it is very windy here, which, combined with rain, creates not the most pleasant living conditions. In summer and spring it is comfortable here; the high-rise buildings offer good views of the sea.

In a small gorge there is the Barsova Shchel district, with low houses (private sector). There are also new monolithic houses here. The road to Dzhugba passes through the area. The area with colorful southern buildings is quiet, but far from the sea.

The Calarasi area is named after its main street. Located away from the sea, built up with new houses with good infrastructure. Accommodation prices are low.

Park in the central area

The microdistrict that connects all the others is Central. Here are most of the attractions and the main street for walking - Primorsky Boulevard. Accommodation costs a little more than in other areas. There are many hotels and guest houses of different levels of comfort.
