How to get there?

Tuapse is located both on the coast and in a picturesque mountainous area (with forests and cliffs by the sea). The beach area of the city stretches for 10 km.

Urban areas and suburbs are spread between the beds of 2 rivers, one of which is called Tuapse, and the other is Pauk. The mountains surrounding the city are part of the southern slope of the Caucasus Range. But the average height at which the buildings are located is only 44 m above sea level. That is, the city is located mainly in the foothills and valleys.

The highest point is located north of Tuapse (Mount Messazhai 651 m high). The outskirts of the city are adjacent to the vast Kadosh forest park. The population of the city is about 60 thousand people.

City districts: where is the best place to live?

You can conditionally divide the entire territory of Tuapse into 8 districts. In the northwest (towards Novorossiysk) is Primorye (there are both multi-storey buildings and the private sector). A good option for accommodation, as there are many relatively inexpensive hotels.

Beach in Primorye

The Grozneft district (southeast) is mainly occupied by factory buildings and old houses; a very busy highway to Sochi passes through it. Not the best option for living. There is a large shopping and entertainment complex "Red Square" here.

The area with the telling name Sortirovka is located around the railway station. Built up with 5-story buildings from the 50s. Located on the right bank of the river (Tuapse) in the direction from the center to the mountains.

The Zvezdny district is located on the mountain slopes and is built up mainly with panel high-rise buildings of 5-10 floors. During the autumn-winter period, it is very windy here, which, combined with rain, creates not the most pleasant living conditions. In summer and spring it is comfortable here; the high-rise buildings offer good views of the sea.

In a small gorge there is the Barsova Shchel district, with low houses (private sector). There are also new monolithic houses here. The road to Dzhugba passes through the area. The area with colorful southern buildings is quiet, but far from the sea.

The Calarasi area is named after its main street. Located away from the sea, built up with new houses with good infrastructure. Accommodation prices are low.

Park in the central area

The microdistrict that connects all the others is Central. Here are most of the attractions and the main street for walking - Primorsky Boulevard. Accommodation costs a little more than in other areas. There are many hotels and guest houses of different levels of comfort.

The Kadosh area is surrounded by forest. Newly built cottages are located here. Accommodation options include small houses in picturesque areas. The descent to the sea is long and quite steep.

Dolmens in Tuapse

Not far from Tuapse, near the village of Prigorodny, there is a historical complex of dolmens. Dolmens are centuries-old stone structures for burying the dead. The dolmen consists of five slabs, four of which are walls, and the fifth is the roof. There is a round hole in the front slab; the deceased was carried into it for burial.

Canyon of the Beshenki River

You can go to the canyon of the Beshenka mountain river with an organized excursion group. The mountain river received this name because of the stormy downpours during the period. The usual route through the canyon takes 2.5 hours, the total time spent on the trip will take about 5 hours.

Natural attractions and ancient dolmens of Tuapse

Waterfalls on the Dederkoy River are a whole complex of water cascades reaching 7 meters. The waterfalls are surprisingly symmetrically located, which makes you think that a person had a hand in them, although this is not the case.

You can get to the waterfalls along hiking trails, but you should stock up on patience and endurance, as well as comfortable shoes and water. Climbing to the waterfalls, surrounded by chestnut forests, tourists will have an incredible view of the gorge.

The 33-meter waterfall is located in the vicinity of Tuapse and has an unofficial name - Perun. Getting to the waterfall is not easy, so it was excluded from many tourist routes. If you decide to visit the waterfall on your own, you should contact the locals, who will be happy to show you the way.

The Kiselev Rock has another name - the Rock of Tears. A rock located at an altitude of 46 meters above sea level. The natural elevation was captured by the famous artist Kiselev in the painting “Rock of Tears”.

dolmens are located in the vicinity of the resort and form a whole complex. The dolmen complex is a mandatory tourist route for all Tuapse tourists to visit. The date of creation of dolmens is considered to be 2-3 centuries BC.

The Guam Gorge offers incredible views of the mountains, and local thermal springs, known for their healing properties, are the pride of the resort. The temperature of some springs reaches 90 degrees, but local residents have created a special pool with a temperature of 35 degrees.

Anyone can swim and recuperate here, and the unique composition of the springs will contribute to this.

The Mouse Holes rocks form a rock complex with uneven layered rocks. It is safe to visit this attraction in calm weather, accompanied by experienced guides or local residents.
The Beshenki River Canyon is an incredibly beautiful highlight of the resort, which is included in almost all tourist routes. It is best to visit the canyon as part of excursion groups, which are taken there on a comfortable bus. And the tourist route includes a visit to the bathhouse, dripping in designated areas, and even lunch in nature!
