Until recently, Laishevo was known for the Kama Sea beach, but now the city has another top attraction - the scenery of the village of Semruk. We figure out what you can see in the city, how to get there and where to rent housing.
The city is landscaped, relaxing here is a pleasure, even a “one day” trip will bring only joy. Sights are being restored, cathedrals are being restored, the Kama Sea beach area (also known as the city embankment) is in perfect condition and continues to develop.
How to get to Laishevo
Laishevo is located just 55 kilometers from Kazan along the Orenburg highway. There is a regular bus service (not transit, which is important) from the Kazan Stolichny bus station. There are many flights per day, you can choose the earliest one, and at lunchtime. The whole trip can take half a day, or a whole day (if you have more time for a beach holiday), or several days if you want more beach joys
bus schedule can be found here .
Buses run exactly on schedule, don't be late. In Laishevo, at the station, I found no signs of life; tickets were bought from the driver.

Sights of Laishev
If you come to Laishevo by bus, your walk will begin from the bus station.
From here begins the descent to the Kama River and the beach along Lebedeva Street, and at the same time an acquaintance with the sights of the city.
The first thing we can visit in Laishevo is the Laishevo Region Museum named after Derzhavin.
Here, in the museum, you can see an exhibition dedicated to the life and work of Gabriel Romanovich Derzhavin, who was born in the Laishevsky region (at the very end of the article I’ll tell you about several more nearby places associated with the poet, which you can see along the way).
Not far from here is the square named after the poet and his bust.
Then you can stroll through Victory Park and at the same time pay attention to the building of the Museum of Military Glory.
The museum is located in the chapel of the former Trinity Convent, which was built in the late 1890s in the eclectic style. After the monastery was closed, the chapel housed a power plant and even a fire department.
Now it is a museum where Laishev’s rear life during the Great Patriotic War is reconstructed using archival documents and memorial exhibits. The museum is located on the territory of Victory Park, which is quite nice, there are examples of military equipment and a beautiful view of the Kama Sea.
Walking forward to the next intersection, we will find a pedestrian zone on Cosmonauts Street,
which begins with Trinity Church
and a two-story building of the former sister's building of the monastery built in the 1880-90s.
Trinity Church was built in 1901-1906 according to the design of the provincial architect F.N. Malinovsky. The monastery was large (more than two hundred sisters and novices). The monastery lived on donations and the help of the local merchant Makashin. During the Soviet years, some of the buildings were lost (in particular, the bell tower), the monastery was closed in 1923, and the church housed a machine and tractor station. Tractors destroyed the floor tiles, the iconostasis and frescoes were lost. The restoration of the temple is currently underway.
Now we go out onto another central street of Laishev - Lenin Street. In pre-revolutionary times it was called Orenburg, there are many interesting objects on it. The main attraction of Lenin Street is St. Sophia Cathedral (attention, on maps on the Internet the cathedral is marked on the site of the Trinity Church, this is incorrect!).
On the corner with Lebedeva there is a former gymnasium building built at the end of the nineteenth century, now being renovated.
The central part of Lenin Street is paved with paving slabs.
Here are the three main attractions of Laishev: the fire tower,
Saint Sophia Cathedral
and a former almshouse building.
St. Sophia is the oldest temple in the city: the new building was erected on the foundation of a seventeenth-century temple. The cathedral was built on the occasion of the arrival of Catherine II: she was supposed to visit Laishev during her journey, but her galley never moored to the pier, following to Bolgar and Simbirsk.
It was decided to rebuild the dilapidated cathedral in 1870 in the late eclectic style. In 1898, the Mordovian artist Stepan Erzya (Nefedov) began painting the cathedral; his frescoes have been partially preserved. The last rector of the temple was shot in 1918; during the years of Soviet power there was a cinema here.
From the cathedral you go straight down to the Kama Sea beach, or rather, to a playground with a swing,
from which you need to go left to the landscaped part of the beach with sand (a lot of people),
or swim to the left of the site: there is a pebble entrance to the water, and then there is soft sand under your feet, and almost no one is there.

It is no coincidence that the place is called the Kama Sea: here the Kama spills so widely that the opposite shore is almost invisible.
It would be wrong to say that the mouth of the Kama is located here: it is located in a completely different place of the same name - the Kama mouth, which I talk about in another article.
And here, in Laishevo, we can and should linger, swim and relax, because another local attraction awaits us - the village of Semruk.
3.5 km from the city center, the film crew of the series “Zuleikha Opens Her Eyes” built the set of a special settlement where the dispossessed people established their life in exile. Decarotia has become a new attraction of the city; I tell you how to get there and what to see here .
By the way, in Semruk you can also sunbathe and swim, which the locals successfully do.
Modernity
During the first decade of the 21st century, the large agricultural enterprises "Selkhoztekhnika", the state farm "Lenin's Path", the procurement enterprises "ZAGOTZERNO", "ZAGOTKONTORA", the land reclamation enterprise "Poliv", a starch (sago, pasta) plant, a garment factory, an asphalt concrete plant, brick factory, feed mill, distillery, construction and installation department, woodworking small enterprise "Laish", RAIPO. Secondary educational school No. 3 and vocational school No. 113, which trained such specialists as a mechanic, a cook, a confectioner, and a tractor driver for agricultural production, ceased to exist.
Currently, there are Laishevoagrokhimservice, a forestry enterprise, a fish factory, a dairy factory, a bakery, trade and catering enterprises, pharmacies, a newspaper editorial office, a gas station, and a service station with a car wash. There are cultural and educational institutions: the district house of culture, the central district library, the district museum of local lore, the center of children's and folk art, the children's and youth sports school, secondary schools No. 1 and No. 2, the Laishevsky Technical and Economic College (LSHT), the Laishevsky Special (correctional) boarding school for blind and visually impaired children, Laishevsky orphanage, sports complex, swimming pool.
It is planned to build a mini-hotel, a supermarket of a well-known retail chain, a hypermarket at the exit from Laishev, and a gas station at the Chirpov exit. On the territory of the former SPTU-113 it is planned to form a techno-town, where people who want to start a business can apply themselves.
In the Laishevsky district in the village. Nikolskoye, at the end of spring, the republican holiday of Russian culture “Caravon” is annually held, which is attended by artists and thousands of people from Kazan, as well as from all over Russia.
What to see on the way to Laishevo
The road to Laishevo passes along the Orenburg Highway, past places associated with Derzhavin and his family:
- Sokury,
- Yegorievo,
- Derzhavino.
The first such place, after turning to the Kazan airport, will be in the village of Sokury.
This village is considered the birthplace of the great poet and statesman. Here, too, there is a monument to Derzhavin, as well as the eighteenth-century wooden Church of the Intercession on the shore of a picturesque pond, in which, according to local legend, the future poet was baptized.
There is another attraction here - a tree that is almost three hundred years old! True, it doesn’t feel very good.
The village of Yegoryevo is the resting place of Derzhavin’s parents; today we can see their grave next to the Epiphany Church restored to its original form.
And the last place associated with the name of the great poet is the village of Derzhavino, founded by the father of Gabriel Romanovich, where you need to see the St. Nicholas Church of the nineteenth century.
