33 attractions of Ulyanovsk recommended for visiting

According to archaeologists, the Ulyanovsk region was one of the first to be inhabited by people 100 thousand years ago during the Paleolithic era. Later, tribes of the Imenkovo culture, Bulgars, Tatars and other peoples lived there. The modern borders of the region began to take shape in the 40s of the 17th century, when the construction of the fortress of Sinbirsk, later Simbirsk (presumably named after one of the Bulgar khans) began.

In the 18th century, the city became the center of the Simbirsk province, which was part of the Kazan province. Catherine the Second, Emelyan Pugachev, Suvorov and Pushkin visited there, but the settlement gained the greatest fame thanks to its most famous native, Vladimir Lenin. In his honor, the city of Simbirsk was named Ulyanovsk, and the region became Ulyanovsk.

Now there are monuments reflecting its history, including the Lenin Memorial, which has no analogues in the world, ancient churches and modern attractions.

For ease of route planning, we have marked all the mentioned attractions on the city map:

Concerts

On April 11 and 12, the Ulyanovsk State Academic Symphony Orchestra "Governor" under the direction of artistic director and chief conductor Ilya Derbilov and People's Artist of Russia Sergei Shakurov will present a musical and literary composition based on the story by James Crews "Tim Thaler, or Sold Laughter." In the book by the famous German storyteller James Crews, many events happen to the boy Tim: fantastic and very real. Like all real fairy tales, this story is interesting and instructive not only for children, but also for adults. Because it makes you think about many important things: that money is far from the most important thing in life, about what true friendship is, and others... And music performed by a symphony orchestra will help listeners to more deeply empathize with the main character, and will enhance the impression of an exciting plot and will emphasize the meaning of this fairy tale: “a person needs laughter, like a flower needs sunlight”!

And if you are fans of apartment concerts, then the “Kvartirniki Online” resource will appeal to you. The group has information about online broadcasts of concerts of musicians who are now forced to cancel live concerts. Want to attend a concert while at home? Here you will find your favorite authors from all cities and villages live!

What would an evening be without a fairy tale? Now, every April evening, the Center for Japanese Culture at the Palace of Books organizes live broadcasts on the Instagram social network with Japanese fairy tales read aloud. In Japanese, fairy tales are “mukashi-banashi”, literally “stories of old”. In different prefectures of the Japanese archipelago they have their own shade and even mood.

There are several genre varieties in Japanese fairy tales. The two main ones are a fairy tale (or mukashi-banashi) and a legend (or densetsu). Mukasi-banasi is a fable, pure fiction. But in order for the listener or reader to certainly believe in the fiction, reliable facts appear in Japanese fairy tales, especially later (for example, the name of an existing city, prefecture, street, etc., or an indication of the exact date). This trick is called the principle of conditional certainty. The storytellers themselves say that they do not know whether this was true or not, but they assure the listener to believe in the plausibility. Join us, it will be interesting!

Another interesting place in Ulyanovsk for tourists. The museum is organized in the house of the great Russian writer, where he lived and worked. Perhaps it was in this room that the image of that very Oblomov that the reader remembered was born.

Particular attention should be paid to the exhibition department. The exhibition is based on the personal belongings of Ivan Goncharov and his relatives and friends. All of them are genuine. The excursions are very interesting and educational, revealing to us different sides of the author’s personality.

The center has its own hall where cultural events are held, there is a conference room, and a library. A children's center has also been created.

Rope park "Adrenaline"

Addresses: Victory Park, Park 40 Komsomol.

With the advent of this park in 2012, my childhood dream came true! Now you can climb trees and overcome obstacles on a completely legal basis and test your strength. In Ulyanovsk, there are Adrenaline branches in Victory Park and the Fortieth Anniversary of the Komsomol Park. For my taste, the second park is better, but both are extremely popular.

Adrenaline is a rope park in the trees where you need to overcome obstacles and go around all the tree stations. On some routes you can even fly - an unforgettable experience! In the Park of the 40th Anniversary of the Komsomol there are trails corresponding to different levels of difficulty. I was captivated by the red one, especially the moment when you need to jump from the tree, holding on to the cable and climb up the net to the next point. Here it is worth clarifying that before sending the visitor onto the track, instructions are given, safety systems are checked, in addition, while passing along the track, instructors check whether everyone is following the rules. Well, for additional reinsurance, there is an option that you will be removed from the track at your request if you do not want or cannot go further.

There are also children's options with low and less scary obstacles, but very similar to the more difficult “adult” ones. The most difficult route is the black one. In order to get here, you need to show that you can do 10 pull-ups - this is a condition for admission to the track.

Victory Park also has several trails of varying difficulty. There are always a lot of people here, they often come to celebrate holidays and corporate events or just test their strength. The favorite track for me and the city residents is Zip-Line, where most of the time you just ride on the belay above the park between the trees.

The price range of the park is divided into two categories - by hour and by the number of passes. The watch is usually twice as expensive. Prices increase from simple to complex - from the yellow track for 100 rubles per pass to the blue and Zip-Line for 300. You can also buy a full package, that is, three tracks, including Zip-Line, for two hours for 600 rubles. Students get a 100 ruble discount. There are discounts for groups, large families and birthday people.

Two branches of the park are located on opposite banks of the Volga, in Victory Park and the Park of the 40th Anniversary of the Komsomol, as can be seen in the picture. You can get to Zavolzhsky Park by trolleybus 2a or minibuses 2, 82, 25, to Victory Park by trams No. 1, 4 or minibuses No. 4, 96, 71, 91, 55, 82.

Ulyanovsk Puppet Theater

The cultural institution is named after the first presenter of the television program “Good Night, Kids.” By the way, it was in this theater that the famous Stepashka, Khryusha, Karkusha and Filya were produced throughout the USSR, and then Russia!

The repertoires of performances are designed for different age groups - some you can bring a child to, while others are worth going to for a teenager, and even an adult.

The Family Club has been operating for several years now. Children aged 3-10 come with their parents and try themselves as a make-up artist, artist, director and puppeteer. Theater workers conduct master classes that are interesting and useful for children's development.

Wake Park "Mera" (Wake Park)

Address: Sviyaga River embankment, central beach, opposite AquaMall.

This summer I learned another original way of summer vacation. Now on the beach near Aquamall you can cut through the expanses of water on a board. Wakeboarding is riding a wave in the direction of the boat. It is the wake wave that is called wake. However, the most economical types of wake are currently being popularized - electric wakeboard, or cable wake. In this case, the rider or skater moves through the water using a mechanical installation. If the installation is circular, then the movement goes in a circle, reversible installations help move forward and backward.

The most interesting thing is not only moving through the water, but also performing tricks using special springboards or slideboxes. This summer, the wake park on Sviyag became a real discovery for Ulyanovsk residents. Here you can take equipment or come with your own equipment. In the first case, that is, with your own wakeboard, one set (10 minutes) costs 250 rubles, with wakeboard rental - 350. You can purchase unlimited for the day for 1,500 rubles. The park is open from Monday to Friday from 11 am until the last client, on weekends from 9 am.

Vinnovskaya Grove

They say that this grove is described in Ivan Goncharov’s work “The Cliff”. Not surprisingly, the alleys of the park have a picturesque view, and the park itself is located on the banks of the beautiful Volga. The natural pond brings a special romantic mood. The variety of vegetation in the area is impressive.

For entertainment purposes, there is an amusement park for a fun family holiday. There is a place for newlyweds called the “corner of family happiness.” If you get hungry, you should go to local cafes serving Russian and European cuisine; they have a menu for children. In summer, evening discos and songs at the karaoke bar are popular.

Quest room or escape room

And finally, it’s worth mentioning the quest rooms. Perhaps this is one of the universal entertainments where both adults and teenagers can have a great time. The point of the quest room is that a team of participants from one to six people is locked in a room for an hour. During this time, you need to get out of it by solving riddles and puzzles prepared in advance by the organizers. Sometimes you can use hints when you can’t get off the ground at all. For me, quest rooms evoked delight and excitement, but after several visits they may seem monotonous. That is why the presence of various quest organizers in Ulyanovsk helps game lovers expand their horizons and think outside the box.

There are a lot of them in Ulyanovsk, so I can’t list them all, I’ll just name a couple that I visited and recommend.

The first quest I completed was in “Closed Station”. Here I went through the “hospital” and “prison” locations. At first these were the most common topics, but now you can choose from a huge number of others. I was very impressed by the variety of puzzles and equipment - they used both standard spy stuff like Morse code and unusual ones like a radio-controlled car. But we won’t reveal all the secrets, come and check it out for yourself! The address of the “Closed Station” is Goncharova, 44, you can walk from the Central Department Store in 10 minutes, the price is 1600 rubles, the team consists of no more than 4 people.

Another popular quest room in Ulyanovsk is “Cryptomania”. And here I passed the location “Grandma’s Room”. In search of the will we rummaged through old things and solved riddles, and although it was interesting, next time I would prefer a theme with less dust and new equipment. However, the ambience of the location is done “excellently”!

Here the team should be 2-4 people, the price is 1400-2000 depending on the time of visit. You can find it at Spasskaya 8.
