Climate, weather

The Abrau Peninsula, on which the Shirokaya Balka village is located, is characterized by a dry Mediterranean climate. Its areas are protected from the north by the low mountains of the western spurs of the Greater Caucasus Range. This allows cold winds to sometimes flow across the ridge and reduce the air temperature (down to −26 °C). Due to the specific relief, hurricane winds develop at a speed of 30-40 m/s.

Winters are wet, with sparse snow cover (lasting up to 2 weeks) and frequent intrusions of cold winds, summers are dry and hot with minimal precipitation. Local and Mediterranean cyclones moderate winter average monthly temperatures in the village, which are always above zero. Most of the annual precipitation falls in autumn-winter (November-February).

The warmest months in the village are July, August and September.

Beach of the recreation center "Sadko"

The beach consists of two tiers. Only guests of the recreation center can rest on the second tier. There are sunshades, a café serving charcoal-grilled mussels, and changing rooms.

Anyone can relax in the lower tier. There are large pebbles everywhere here. The beach is very popular among tourists and in mid-summer it is quite crowded.

The length of the beach is 200 meters, the covering consists of large pebbles. There is everything you need for relaxation: sunshades, cafes, shops, changing rooms, toilets, showers. The beach is very popular as it is located in the very center of the village. At the beginning of summer there are few tourists on the beach, not all cafes are open and there are no annoying sellers.

How to get to the coast

Wide beam in Novorossiysk, whose recreation centers are diverse and modern, is included in the city zone. The 10 km road between them can be covered by car in 20-30 minutes. following signs from the city.

To get to the village by public transport (bus and minibus), you should come to the bus station (15 Tchaikovsky St.). From here, buses No. 2 depart every hour from 6.30 to 19.30 every hour.
