Where else can you go?
Children are the greatest explorers in our world, so the more we expand the boundaries of this world for them, the more developed they will become. In addition, not only children, but also parents, who are increasingly asking the question: where to go with their children, need a break from their usual surroundings and everyday life? What exactly can our city of Ulyanovsk offer?
It is not difficult to answer this question for residents of a large city, since the variety of services offered is amazing - these include amusement parks in shopping centers, and all kinds of master classes, and children's cafes, a zoo, a circus, a puppet theater, a horse yard, a dolphinarium, and a swimming pool.
But a small city also cares about the comprehensive development of its small residents. On the Internet, as a rule, there is a page with a name like “children’s poster of the city of Ulyanovsk,” where all upcoming or ongoing events for children are collected.
Another great invention of recent years is family clubs, which organize leisure time for children and adults, based on the city’s resources. Staging performances for children of different ages, organizing holidays, readings and tea parties in a sincere family atmosphere, excursions to enterprises (post office, theater backstage, factory, fire station), where you would never get to with a child on an individual basis.
The city of Ulyanovsk also has its own attractions. Of course, a child is unlikely to enjoy a long excursion, but a dosed study with a brief but vivid description of the main events is exactly what is needed.
Even if their historical value will not be so interesting to children, it is necessary to introduce them, tell them and show them the riches of their native land - be it a beautiful landscape, industrial buildings or ancient buildings, beautiful buildings - it wonderfully develops their horizons and trains their memory.
We are sure that every parent in our city will be able to remember places where they can have fun and interesting time with their child, and share with us. Where do you go with your children?

Chapel of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker on Nikolskaya Mountain
The village of Surskoye is covered in numerous legends. It was here in the 16th century that the Tatars decided to destroy the local garrison, but according to legend, impenetrable darkness formed around, and St. Nicholas the Wonderworker and St. George the Victorious appeared to drive away the uninvited enemies. The Tatars fled in fear, and grateful local residents erected a chapel on the mountain in honor of the savior.
Further - more interesting!
Ulyanovsk was previously called Simbirsk, and received its current name in honor of the leader of the entire world proletariat V.I. Ulyanov is better known in history as Lenin. Today, this city is home to the world's most famous museum dedicated to the era of socialism - the Lenin Memorial Center. You can go to this museum if you are interested in the history of socialism, but there are many other interesting places in the city that you should definitely go to.
It is worth seeing the longest bridge in the world, which is 5,834 meters long. It connects the two banks of the Volga, the width of which in this place is the largest along its entire length. Ulyanovsk is located on both banks of the Volga, and the bridge is called “Presidential”.
Take a walk along the Volga embankment, which is located at an altitude of 350 above sea level and offers a magnificent panorama of the most majestic Russian river. And, of course, go to the port to take a river boat trip.
The Main Museum of Civil Aviation of Russia is located in Ulyanovsk. The territory of the museum is open and more than forty types of aircraft are collected on it. Some copies have survived in the singular. Sometimes Ulyanovsk is even called the “winged” city, but it received this name due to the fact that the only civil pilot training center in Russia is located in the city. By the way, footage of the famous comedy “The Adventures of Italians in Russia” was filmed at the city airport.
Ulyanovsk is rightfully considered a city of pedestrian tourism, because almost all museums are located in the city center and you can get around them in a day. The most interesting: the museum of urban life "Simbirsk of the late 19th - early 20th centuries", the regional museum of local lore named after. I.A. Goncharova and the Museum of Urban Planning and Architecture of Simbirsk-Ulyanovsk.
In the old part of the city there is a museum-reserve named after. V.I. Lenin, whose territory is 174 hectares. Here, to this day, ancient buildings from the 19th century have been preserved in their original form. So, if you are a fan of antiquity, then be sure to take a stroll through the open-air museum.
As in any city, Ulyanovsk has a large number of monuments. But the most unusual thing that attracts tourists is the monument to the letter “e”. It seems that there is nothing unusual in it, it’s just that in no other city in Russia there is a monument to the least frequently used letter of the Russian alphabet.
After a walk around the city, it’s worth going to Alexander Park to relax. Its area is 15 hectares, and on the territory, in addition to fountains, playgrounds, cafes and restaurants, there is even a Water Park. The most comfortable hotel “Imperial” is also located here, where you can stay if you are a guest of the city.
If you come to Ulyanovsk in winter, you can spend time at the local ski resort “Leninskie Gorki”, which is located almost in the city center near the Museum-Reserve of the same name.
If you stay in the city for several days, then try to visit the real Jurassic Park, which is located near the city near the village of Undory. Here, scientists at different times found the remains of the most ancient ammonite mollusks and lizards that lived on Earth 140 million years ago. In the Undorovsky paleontological museum you can see representatives of an ancient era, found at different times by archaeologists.
So, you have virtually met Ulyanovsk. Surely, now you will want to visit the city and really enjoy your trip.

White Lake
On the territory of the Nikolaevsky district there is an amazing lake. The main feature of this miracle of nature is that it purifies itself, so the water in it is always clear and has few minerals. At the bottom of the lake there is white sand, which is why it was given the name “White Lake”.
Pike and bream, perch and tench feel very favorable here. All this splendor is surrounded by centuries-old pines, as well as oaks and maples, lindens and birches. All this vegetation forms a favorable climate and makes the environment very beneficial for any organism.
Sights, cafes and restaurants, entertainment centers
On the banks of the Mother Volga, glorified in folk songs, is the ancient, amazingly beautiful city of Ulyanovsk. Its sights are interesting. We will tell you about them now. I would like to note that the city arose by decree of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich as a fortress protecting the borders of the Russian land from the raids of the Nogai Tatars.
The remains of this fortress were reconstructed at the end of the twentieth century and are now the historical and architectural complex “Simbirsk Zasechnaya Line”. It consists of a wooden watchtower from the times of Ancient Rus', a fragment of a palisade, and a wooden bridge over a moat. In addition, there is a real cannon dating back to the mid-seventeenth century, there are replicas of weapons from different eras, as well as military uniforms. Here you can see a theatrical performance with the participation of the Lynx squad.
Crown
In Ulyanovsk, the old part of the city is called Venets Boulevard. This is a real open-air museum of architecture. It's on a hill. Therefore, it is from here that a bewitching panorama of the Volga opens to the traveler’s gaze.
On the boulevard there are buildings in the Russian Art Nouveau style, built at different times by famous architects. Venets is the center of cultural and social life of the city, a favorite vacation spot for its residents.
Ulyanovsk city: attractions
The cultural heritage of Ulyanovsk is enormous. In Soviet times, the city was perceived primarily as the birthplace of V.I. Lenin, in whose memory a memorial museum was created. But besides the founder of the Soviet state, Ulyanovsk is the birthplace of the famous writer I. A. Goncharov, as well as the famous historian and writer N.V. Karamzin.
The house in which Goncharov was born and spent his childhood is still perfectly preserved. Ulyanovsk residents are proud of their famous fellow countryman. A monument to the writer was erected opposite his house, and later a museum was opened dedicated to the life and work of the writer.
For the writer’s centenary, a memorial gazebo for Goncharov was built; according to legend, it was at this place that he came up with the idea of writing the novel “The Cliff.” In addition, a monument to Oblomov’s sofa was erected on Goncharova Street in 2005.
Monuments to famous people
Another famous native of Ulyanovsk is the historian and writer N.V. Karamzin. The monument to him was erected by decree of Emperor Nicholas I. With the communists coming to power, a decision was made to demolish the monument, but the director of the local history museum and the chief architect of the city managed to defend it.
The famous TV presenter Valentina Leontyeva spent her last years in these parts. Therefore, it is here that the original monument was erected to her.
Museum "Simbirsk Photography"
Where to go in Ulyanovsk for photography lovers?
Ulyanovsk has very unusual museums; these are not found in every city. For example, the Simbirsk Photography Museum is located in the former estate of the merchant Sakharov, where more than a hundred years ago two photographers Kholevin and Nikanorov opened their studio.
There is a monument in front of the museum entrance. It depicts a photographer and an old camera. The museum's exposition contains rare objects that were used to take photographs in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. The photographers' office has also been completely recreated. There are old photographs and so on.
Those interested can take pictures against the backdrop of the ancient interior and in the costumes of those times.

Where to go in Ulyanovsk for museum lovers? There are more than a dozen different such places in the city. These are the following museums: urban life, “Trade and Crafts of Simbirsk”, Museum of Folk Art, “Simbirsk Chuvash School”, Simbirsk Merchants, History of Civil Aviation, “Simbirsk Meteorological Station” and others.

Churches
Where to go in Ulyanovsk for temple lovers? On the territory of the city there are many religious buildings, and not only Orthodox ones. The vast majority of them appeared quite recently, since churches in Lenin’s homeland were mercilessly destroyed.
The only holy monastery that managed to withstand the years of persecution is the Church of the Resurrection of Christ. It is located in the Kresty cemetery and was built at the beginning of the twentieth century in the traditional Byzantine style. More than once it was threatened with closure and sacrilege; for example, it was planned to build a granary in its premises, and yet the church continued to be a stronghold for true believers.
At the end of the twentieth century, the All Saints Church was erected in Ulyanovsk. Unique is the fact that it was built with funds from parishioners and the Catholic Church. During these same years, the Spaso-Voznesensky Cathedral was erected, on the very spot where it was located before the advent of Soviet power.
In Ulyanovsk there is the Lutheran Church of St. Mary, the building is a little luckier than other shrines. It was only closed during the years of Soviet power, but not destroyed. Until the early nineties of the last century, it served as a warehouse, and only in 1991 the building was transferred to the Lutheran community.
The churches destroyed during the years of Soviet power had great artistic and historical value; they glorified Ulyanovsk as a city of magnificent churches. As a symbol of repentance, the Monument to Destroyed Cathedrals was erected in the city.

You can also have a tasty meal in other establishments of the city, for example, the restaurants “Veprevo Koleno”, Cafeletto, “Korchma Gopak”, “Spinach”, “Dubinin”.

Monument "Separation"
A depressing sculptural composition installed in the city of Inza. The place was not chosen by chance - it was from here that soldiers left the city for the front during the Great Patriotic War, and it was here that they were met after this terrible time. The sculptor was very accurately and reliably able to convey on stone all the emotions of those terrible farewells.
