The internal atmosphere of Sudak is somewhat reminiscent of a cozy and quiet resort in Italy. The city itself is quite cramped, not overloaded with signs and other big city rubbish, and decorated with lush greenery everywhere. The climate here is mild, but slightly dry. Almost its entire area of Sudak stretches along the coast, so the sound of the sea can be heard in every corner of the city. In Sudak you can relax with your family, a noisy group, and even arrange a “hermit” vacation for one.

For those who are planning to travel around the area - an interesting guide to Koktebel (30 kilometers from Sudak) from the same author, an overview of the sights of Feodosia 50 kilometers away. Well, the most interesting thing is a detailed guide to all the remarkable places in Crimea, many of which are in close proximity to the resort.

In Sudak, the artist Ivan Aivazovsky had a dacha. There are stories that he went to Cape Alchak with an easel and paints and it was there that he drew inspiration for his paintings. It is quite possible that they are the embodiment of species from Cape Alchak.

Who will like Cape Alchak and who should visit it? For those who love active recreation, diving and snorkeling. This is an ideal place for ecotourism, since there is no developed infrastructure on the territory of the cape and the mountain as a whole. In general, you can even swim on site, but there is no equipped beach there.

You can also go to Cape Alchak with children, but a mandatory requirement is to have a snack and a warm jacket. For a family walk, a hiking trail along the mountains is more suitable. It offers an impressive panoramic view, against which you can take beautiful photos.

When to come to Sudak

Sudak is a resort town, so it’s worth coming here in the summer. In June-July, the temperature here remains comfortable - about 25 °C, and in August the thermometer can rise to 38 °C. It is in the summer that Sudak truly becomes a resort town: there are street restaurants, a water park, active sales of souvenirs, and all beaches are open.

You can swim in the sea here until mid-October, so it’s worth visiting Sudak in the fall. There are much fewer tourists during this period than in summer, hotel prices are noticeably reduced, and weather conditions remain comfortable.

Church of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Address: Sudak, Lenin street, 27.

The Intercession Church is the central and main temple of the city, founded in 1819, but built only by 1840. The construction of the Orthodox landmark of Sudak was carried out exclusively with the money of parishioners, who donated for this purpose not only money and building materials, but even houses and vineyards and much more.

The temple was open until 1935, after which it was closed by the Soviet authorities. The building was planned to be demolished in order to build a House of Pioneers on this site, but the idea was not brought to life due to the outbreak of the Great Patriotic War. During the years of peace, the House of Pioneers was located in the Church of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and for several years repair shops were located here.

The revival of the church began at the end of the 20th century. In 1996, it was decorated by the artist I. Sakharov, who updated the interior decoration of the temple and depicted Crimean saints on it. Now the building belongs to the courtyard of the Kiziltash Monastery.

Mount Sokol used to be the bottom of the sea, but now it rises 474 meters above sea level. Tourists love to climb it; they don’t mind spending time and effort for a gorgeous view of the sea and mountains. The mountain is a favorite place for climbers of any level of professionalism; there are many routes for rock climbers.

Note! Climbing Mount Sokol is quite difficult, so it’s better not to take children with you. You need to make the descent EXCLUSIVELY in comfortable shoes, with water and food.

New World

This is the name of a small village, the road to which from Sudak takes about an hour and a half on foot. The Golitsyn trail, carved into the rock, is worth the time. Traveling on a yacht on the sea is faster and also exciting.

Being high, high in the mountains, people admire the blue, blue sea. The Kapchik, Karaul-Oba, Orel, Sokol and Meganom mountains are beautiful from all angles and from afar they resemble rhinoceroses, sleeping dragons, and turtles.

Not all beaches are convenient to get to, and therefore they are more spacious. The small pebble beaches appear black, but the beaches are mostly sunny and sandy and the water depth near the shore is suitable for poor swimmers. A heavenly place.

From the Golitsyn grotto there is an entrance to a 7 km long adit. Prince Golitsyn, who was a skilled winemaker, stored his wines and champagne in these adits. Therefore, who knows, maybe some tourist will be lucky enough to find a bottle of a drink there that has been stored for hundreds of years.

The total length of the trail is just under 6 km. The local terrain is rocky and uneven, making walking along the trail a little difficult. Therefore, this is not the best option for visiting with small children.

Beaches and entertainment

Central Beach

The city of Sudak is famous not only for its attractions, but also for its beaches. The main one is called “Central”. The length of the coastline is about 250 m, and the width is about 40 m. The area is clean, entry into the water is comfortable. The only drawback is the large number of vacationers, especially during peak season.

Vin

The winery on the estate of Prince Golitsyn has been known since 1878. Tourists here are traditionally introduced to the main stages of the production of Crimean champagne, and then led through dark tunnels into ancient cellars. There, in the semi-darkness, covered in dust and cobwebs, famous local varieties have been ripening for decades. Some rarities made for the Russian emperor and his family are inviolable.

A walk through the winery ends with a wine tasting in a beautiful hall with stylized noble furnishings.

Mojito Beach

An artificial beach was built in the western part of Sudak Bay. The surroundings are complemented favorably by the Genoese fortress, visible on the mountain. The coastline is strewn with imported fine sand - a rarity for local beaches, where pebbles predominate.

There is a cafe here, and you can rent umbrellas and sun loungers. “Mojito” is one of the most comfortable beaches in Sudak.

Water park "Sudak"

Sudak is a city of attractions and entertainment for every taste. You can verify this by visiting an open-air water park.

  • “Superloop” slide with a length of 170 m;
  • river with a countercurrent.

A cafe, food court and aquabar invite you to satisfy your hunger. There is a disco in the evening. Prices for visiting the Sudak water park depend on the time of day, promotions and discounts apply.

Cypress Alley

A noisy street about 1 km long runs perpendicular to the embankment - from Lenin Street to the city beach. Initially they planned to plant chestnuts here, but apparently something went wrong - and cypress trees appeared. Heat-loving trees feel good on Crimean soil, although they require tireless attention.

The alley offers tourists many ways to spend their money. There are all kinds of shops, souvenir shops and a fruit market. There is even a small go-kart track and a petting zoo .

As night falls, clubs, bars and attractions wake up. Cafes and restaurants invite you to have a delicious time, although not all of them can boast complex menus and delicacies.

"Arzy"

The beach is located not far from the Genoese fortress, but at quite a distance from the city center, so there are always free places here. The coastal strip, about 250 m long, is separated by a pier, which swimmers use for diving.

The beach is named after the Arzy restaurant of the same name, whose staff maintains order on the territory. The establishment specializes in Tatar cuisine, but the menu also offers dishes from European, Russian and Japanese cuisines.

Vin

Among the attractions of Sudak and its surroundings is the oldest winery on the peninsula, “Solnechnaya Dolina”. It owes its appearance to Prince Golitsyn, who decided to establish new vineyards on the lands of the Archaderesse region.

He attracted Prince Gorchakov to finance the project. After 10 years, investors fell out and the company had to be sold. The new owner managed to preserve both the vineyards, which have since grown to 350 hectares, and production. Today, Solnechnaya Dolina produces over 1 million bottles of wine annually, including sparkling wine.

In 2004, a Wine Museum . Exhibits are displayed right in the tasting room. The main ones are bottles of wine produced under Prince Golitsyn. While enjoying the intoxicating masterpieces of Sunny Valley, tourists get acquainted with the nuances of production and learn interesting facts about wine.
