Solnechnogorsk. Sights, photos of the city and surrounding area, what to see in 1 day

The importance of the city in the modern world

Mentions of the first settlements on the territory of modern Solnechnogorsk are found in scribal documents of the first half of the 17th century.

Records dating back to 1627 indicate the following settlements:

  • Nikolskoe;
  • Gushchino;
  • Spasskoye;
  • Teleshovo.

All the settlements, which in the future became the city of Solnechnogorsk, were located along the trade route between Moscow and Veliky Novgorod (formerly a developed trade and craft center in the north-west of Rus').

After the founding of the city of St. Petersburg in the second half of the 18th century, the settlement of Gomzino arose on the territory of modern Solnechnogorsk. On its basis, a postal station was organized on the way from the Northern capital to Moscow. Hotels for travelers and a traveling imperial palace were built.

According to an unofficial version, during her next trip from St. Petersburg, Empress Catherine the Great reached the second postal station at dawn, at the moment when the sun rose over the mountain. This image impressed her, and Catherine admired the sunny mountain. This fact has not been documented, but soon after the foundation of the station in Gomzino this area received the name Solnechnaya Gora.

After the construction of the railway line in 1851 and the opening of the Nikolskaya station, the population in the settlement grew steadily and its status increased. So in 1890 the settlement became the center of Solnechnogorsk volost.

In 1928, the village of Solnechnogorsk was formed. And on December 26, 1938, the settlement officially received city status. At the same time it was given its modern name.

In the second half of 1941, during the Great Patriotic War, heavy battles were fought for the Solnechnogorsk railway station, and on December 12, 1941 the city was taken by soldiers of the Red Army.

Solnechnogorsk today is the administrative center of the urban settlement of the same name. The main attraction of the city is Lake Senezhskoe.

The city is located on the square of the Klinsko-Dmitrovskaya ridge. On the border of the watershed between the Moscow River and the river. Volga. Administratively, the Solnechnogorsk City District belongs to the Moscow Region. It is possible to find a settlement on the map using the following coordinates: 56°10' N. w. and 36°58'E. d.

Monuments on Soviet Square

Immediately after the Great Patriotic War, in 1947, a monument to those who died in the battles for the city was erected here, and in 2007 a memorial “Solnechnogorsk Residents - Defenders of the Fatherland” was opened. People's gratitude does not diminish over the years. In the same year, a monument to “Solnechnogorsk residents who died in local wars” was unveiled. These are not all the memorial signs installed here.

War came to the city of the sun in November 1941. For 24 days he was in the power of the Nazis. The surrounding villages were destroyed and people died. But the city itself did not suffer significant destruction; the German invaders were knocked out during the offensive operation near Moscow.

At the 40th kilometer of the Leningradskoye Highway there is a monument to Glory. On the high mound there are three steles and three bayonets in honor of the three branches of the military. This is a mass grave, and it was from here that the remains of the Unknown Soldier were removed in 1966 and buried near the walls of the Moscow Kremlin.

And although the population of Solnechnogorsk is small compared to Moscow, its residents are firmly bound by the memory of December 1941, which marked the beginning of the great feat of the liberating heroes.

Climate

The city of Solnechnogorsk and the surrounding areas have a continental climate. This is expressed in a clear division of seasons. Winters in the region are moderately cold. The period of the year when the average daily temperature does not rise above 0 °C lasts from 110 to 130 days. At the same time, the overall average annual temperature does not rise above 4 °C.

The coldest month of the year is January. The average monthly temperature during this period often drops below -10 °C. The formation of climatic conditions in the region is influenced by northern air masses. With the arrival of arctic cold air currents, temperatures in Solnechnogorsk can drop below -20 °C. These thermometer readings can last up to 40 calendar days.

The most favorable month for visiting the region is July (the average temperature in this month does not fall below +15 °C). During the summer, the region receives little rainfall (80 mm out of 650 mm throughout the year).

Real estate

The city's development is very diverse. In some areas, modern new buildings in Solnechnogorsk coexist with houses dating back to the 19th century, serial 5-story buildings from the post-war 1950s, and panel houses from the 1970s.

It should be noted that, unlike many cities near Moscow, Solnechnogorsk has avoided mass development in recent decades. This means that there are enough infrastructure facilities for all residents, the load on utility networks is within normal limits, and the construction of their house was not preceded by the cutting down of wonderful relict forests.

Ecology

Despite the presence of 2 large chemical enterprises located on the territory of the municipality and a large solid waste landfill (reclamation of which was carried out in 2016), the environmental situation in the Solnechnogorsk district can be considered favorable. The total number of polluting emissions from all facilities does not exceed 1% of regional values.

Solnechnogorsk manages to achieve such high safety indicators thanks to the large number of green spaces.

Forests and artificial forests of the region belong to the first group, that is, they perform the following functions:

  • Wellness.
  • Sanitary.
  • Water protection.
  • Hygienic.

Despite a number of measures taken by the leadership of the region and district to protect forests, in the period from 2014 to 2022 there has been a decrease in the amount of green space (especially coniferous trees) due to the impact of the human factor.

Population

Solnechnogorsk, whose attractions are famous in Moscow, the Moscow region and surrounding areas, is a small provincial city with a population of 52 thousand people (as of 2022).

The ethnic composition of the locality is not diverse. Up to 98% of all residents are Russian.

Sovetskaya Square

The main square of Solnechnogorsk has changed a lot in recent years. This is a place for celebrations and events, a meeting place and walks for citizens.

In summer there is a fountain, beautifully illuminated in the evening. But this is a place not only of joy, but also of sorrow. It is here that many of the monuments dedicated to the defenders of the Fatherland are installed. Monuments were erected in different years to participants in various military actions.

Flora and fauna

The flora of the Solnechnogorsk region consists of artificial and natural plantings of predominantly coniferous trees. Among all the variety of species on the territory of the municipality, spruce is the most common. You can also find pine and birch groves in the area.

Among the above breeds you can find:

  • Oak trees;
  • and you;
  • aspen;
  • alder;
  • linden

A wide variety of trees, shrubs, annual and perennial grasses form a powerful, dense undergrowth for coniferous groves. The ratio of forest area to the total territory of the administrative entity is 48% (as of the end of 2022).

The fauna of the region is represented by species characteristic of central Russia:

  • wild boars,
  • moose,

    You can meet moose in the forests of Solnechnogorsk

Religious buildings

Among the religious buildings of the city of Solnechnogorsk, a number of estates can be distinguished.

Serednikova

This historical heritage site has all the characteristic features of estate architecture of the early and mid-18th century. The restoration of the estate was carried out by a group of like-minded people and admirers of M.Yu. Lermontov. On its territory today there is a National Center named after the poet.

Currently, the garden and park complex is the center of the cultural life of the area. Celebrations are celebrated in the restored premises of the estate. And historically accurately recreated exhibitions from the beginning of the 19th century allow you to completely immerse yourself in the heyday of classicism in imperial Russia.

Boldino

An iconic place for lovers of Russian history. It was in this estate that Vasily Tatishchev, a famous scientist and devotee of Peter the Great, was born, raised and met old age.

But today the estate bears little resemblance to itself from the time of the famous historian. After the death of Vasily Nikitich, the estate was significantly rebuilt in the 1780s by his son. A park area with columns and arches in the Baroque style was erected and many alleys, ponds, and outbuildings were organized. Of which, to date, only ruins remain.

The estate building itself is made in a simple style and looks somewhat isolated, since there are no populated areas in the immediate vicinity of the Tatishchev estate.

Dedevshino

The estate is located near the village of Alabusheno (only about 1 km). Since the second half of the 18th century, the estate belonged to the princely family of Golitsyn. At the beginning of the twentieth century, the artist Shestyorkin lived there.

Today the building attracts lovers of Russian history from all over the Moscow region and neighboring regions. The perfectly preserved main building of the manor complex is a stone structure with a height of 2 floors. The corners of the house are smoothed, which was atypical for the architecture of that period.

Museums

Among the museum complexes of Solnechnogorsk, the State Historical and Literary Museum named after Alexander Aleksandrovich Blok deserves special attention, the exhibitions of which are located in the estate of the writer’s grandfather A.N. Beketova.

State Historical and Literary Museum

The poet wrote many of his works on the Shakhmotovo estate, but shortly before the death of A. A. Blok, the main building of the estate burned down. It was possible to restore the historical heritage monument only in 2001.

Since August of the same year, Blok poetry festivals have been regularly held on the estate. The museum is also famous for its park area, at the very entrance to which there is a memorial stone. Interestingly, the stone is located in the thickets of Sakhalin buckwheat, which has been growing in this place since 1905.

The interior of the main building was restored with high precision by restorers.

The estate is located 2.5 kilometers from the village of Tarakano. In this direction from the Solnechnogorsk railway station there is bus route No. 24. Upon reaching its final point, those wishing to visit the museum will have a 3-kilometer walk following the signs leading to the Shakhmotovo estate.

The museum is open to visitors from Wednesday to Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The cost of a comprehensive ticket for visiting the outbuilding, the estate and the park area is 500 rubles.

Natural attractions

One of the main natural attractions not only of the Solnechnogorsk region, but also of the entire Moscow region is Lake Senezhskoe (or simply Senezh). This reservoir is the largest in the region. Its maximum depth reaches 6 m, and the length of the coastline along the perimeter is 17 km. The area of the lake is about 8.5 square meters. km.

But Senezh is attractive not so much for its size as for the beauty of the surrounding landscapes. The hilly shores of the lake are covered with coniferous trees, and its clear waters contain a wide variety of fish species. In the 19th and early 20th centuries. By commercial means, up to 60 tons of it were caught annually in the reservoir.

Senezh owes its origin to the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. For its construction, stone was required, which was delivered from the Volga. For more convenient transportation, the Catherine Canal was built in 1826, which connected the Sestra and Istra rivers. As a result of the construction of related engineering structures, Senezhskoye Lake arose on the site of shallow Gushchino.

Today the reservoir is a center of tourism for the entire Moscow region. Along the shore of the Senezh there are many paid beaches with sun loungers and active recreation areas (the cost of visiting starts from 150 rubles). Water recreation is also available to guests of the region: diving or windsurfing. But the main entertainment on Senezh is fishing.

The lake contains:

  • bream;
  • goby;

  • roach;
  • pike;
  • perch;
  • crucian carp;
  • acne;
  • zander;
  • tench.

Monuments

Solnechnogorsk, whose sights attract lovers of history, poetry and active recreation, is interesting for a number of monuments and landmarks.

Memorial sign to V. Kharlamov

The monument is made in the form of a hockey puck weighing about 500 kg and is dedicated to a tragic event in the history of Russian and world sports - the death of one Valery Kharlamov. The monument is located at 74 km of the Leningradskoye Highway in the Solnechnogorsk region.

Monument to Defenders of the Fatherland

The memorial is made in the form of two marble blocks with images of soldiers and memorial inscriptions carved on them. The composition is dedicated to the liberating soldiers who died during the Great Patriotic War.

The monument is located in the very center of Solnechnogorsk and is highly respected among local residents.

The emergence of Lake Senezh

It is impossible to imagine a modern city without this attraction. And once upon a time there was no trace of him here.

A decision was made to build the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow. Solnechnogorsk, too, found itself in the middle of the journey of delivering materials from the upper Volga. Only the route was by water. And in 1825 they began building a shipping canal across the Dubna, Sestra and Istra rivers. To regulate the water level in the canal, a dam was erected, which formed Lake Senezh. The length of the dam was two kilometers.

Construction lasted 25 years, but the hydraulic system worked for only 10. The new railway, which opened traffic in 1851, turned out to be more cost-effective and fast.

In memory of this project, the townspeople have a wonderful lake Senezh with an area of 7 km2. It is the largest in the Moscow region. Not only local residents, but also Muscovites come to relax on this reservoir, admire its beauty, swim, play sports or fish. 10 km from the lake (in Shakhmatovo) is the estate of A. Blok.

Leisure

Active recreation in the Solnechnogorsk region is concentrated around Lake Senezh. There are recreation centers and hotels here, as well as two paid beaches located at a distance of 500 m from each other.

These recreation areas are equipped with everything necessary:

  • Basketball and volleyball courts.
  • Game attractions for children.
  • Umbrellas, sun loungers and other equipment.

The fee for the use of infrastructure facilities and equipment is charged at the entrance and ranges from 180 rubles.

On the beaches there are additional services available for an additional fee:

  • Kitesurfing and windsurfing.
  • Catamaran rental.
  • Banana ride.
  • Diving and spearfishing.

Fishing occupies a special place among all entertainments. It is available to fans throughout the year. For these purposes, a fishing village with comfortable houses was built on the shore of the lake. You can get to Senezh by bus from the city's railway station. The final stop in this case will be the “Fisherman’s House” or the “House of Artists”.

The population of Solnechnogorsk loves not only their city, but also its surroundings. The Serednikovo estate complex is located on the territory of Solnechnogorsk district. This beautiful place near Moscow has its own interesting history, which began in 1775. Vsevolod Alekseevich, an actual state councilor, decides to build a large house with outbuildings, a park, and ponds. Over the years, the building was rebuilt and improved, but the buildings always remained snow-white and symmetrical, reminiscent of a flying seagull.

In 1825, the estate was bought by the brother of M. Lermontov’s grandmother, Dmitry Alekseevich Stolypin. From 1829 to 1831, the young poet spent the summer months here. Dramas, poems and poems written by him in these places are known.

Later the estate will be sold to the Firsanov family. Vera Ivanovna uses her own money to build a railway station nearby, which is still called “Firsanovka”. Being a great admirer of M. Lermontov’s talent, she commissions the sculptor A. Golubkina to create a bust of the poet, and paints the ceiling of the oval hall with illustrations for the poem “The Demon.”

During Soviet times there was a sanatorium here, then the buildings stood abandoned for a long time. And finally, in 1993, the National Lermontov Center opened here.
