Sights of Kislovodsk: photos and descriptions of interesting places in the city and surrounding area

The largest domestic balneological resort is located in the Stavropol Territory and has a telling name, since such a variety of healing springs is not found anywhere else in Europe. The resort is year-round; in addition to treatment and recreation, guests are offered various excursion programs. Photos describing the interesting features of each cultural or architectural site will help you choose what you can see from the sights of the city of Kislovodsk and its environs in the summer.

Where to go in Kislovodsk

This corner, generously endowed by nature, has a very interesting history, captured in ancient buildings and museum exhibits. Natural attractions are also worth paying attention to, especially since most of the city’s guests come on long-term sanatorium stays and there will definitely be time for a thoughtful inspection.

Castle of deceit and love

There are many picturesque rocks and grottoes in the Alikonovsky Gorge. In the outlines of one of them one can see silhouettes of faces, ruins of walls and towers, which gave rise to several legends about tragic love. But there is no ancient castle in the vicinity. This is the name of the restaurant and hotel complex, opened in 1949. It is designed in the style of cliff castles, has a massive watchtower-like tower and fits perfectly into the landscape.

Address: Alikonovka.

Narzan gallery

The main drinking center and at the same time an architectural monument.

You can drink unlimited water in the gallery free of charge, but you are not allowed to take it with you. It’s interesting to try different types of narzans:

  • general;
  • dolomite;
  • sulfate.

National Park "Elbrus"

The park administration is located at the address: Elbrus, st. Lesnaya, 2b.

Drinking pump room No. 5

The spectacular round pavilion on Vokzalnaya Street with glass walls was built after the war. It is not as popular as the central gallery, but it does not suffer from the lack of visitors. The list includes heated and cold dolomite and sulfate narzan. There is no point in putting water in bottles; within a few hours it completely loses its healing properties. Address: Vokzalnaya, 3.

Minutka station

Every day, up to 60 trains stop here briefly, which is why it got such an interesting name. While waiting for the desired train, you can admire the magnificent view of the mountains of the Borgustan Range.

Address: st. Home, 8.

October Narzan baths

The main building was once the mansion of E. Poniatowska. Later, another wing was added, expanding the area of the interior. The opening took place in 1928. Under the foundation of the hospital there is one of the Narzan springs.

Address: Vokzalnaya, 3.

Bridge "Lady's whim"

An elegant openwork design connects the banks of the Olkhovka River. According to the stories of old-timers, he appeared after one of the noble ladies refused to ford a small but stormy river. Her name has not survived, but the bridge, as evidence of her whim, remains. From its middle it is interesting to watch the flow of water and the beauty of coastal vegetation.

Address: st. Profinterna, 17.

State Philharmonic named after. IN AND. Safonova

Built according to the design of Deskoubes, the building flaunts light cut stone walls, decorative turrets on the main facade and high lancet windows, and is considered an architectural monument. The opening of the Philharmonic took place in 1896. Bronze, velvet, stucco, and elements of openwork forging were used in interior decoration.

Narzan gallery

Not far from the Resort Park there is another attraction of Kislovodsk, which every guest of the city should visit - the Narzan Gallery. Initially, it was a simple canvas tent, but with the growing popularity of the drink - narzan, it was decided to replace it with a stone structure. The gallery became what it is today in 1851. It was built from yellow stone in the Gothic style; some compare the building to the castles of knights. Since its construction, the building has undergone minor changes, which did not affect its appearance in any way - the well was deepened, and the source was covered with a glass dome. This attraction of Kislovodsk can be seen in the video and photo in the article.

In the Narzan Gallery you can not only try the delicious and healthy drink Narzan, but also enjoy beautiful views during a leisurely walk. Tourists should definitely walk through the square with the fountain, look into the gallery building to see the Narzan streams flowing in the very center of the hall.

A huge advantage of visiting the gallery is free consultations with doctors on choosing water.

What to see

When traveling around the city, a guide with photos of Kislovodsk with attractions on a map and addresses will become an indispensable attribute for a tourist. With its help it is very easy to plot the optimal route.

Monument to Lermontov

A thoughtful look, tinged with slight sadness, a uniform jacket and a relaxed pose. This is how the famous poet, depicted in bronze, appears before the guests of the city. At first it was placed on the Red Sun mountain, and later moved to the Resort Park.

Floral calendar

The blooming attraction of the lower terrace of the park on Pervomaisky Prospekt is located on the hillside. All elements are composed of ornamental and floral plants. The unusual composition was created in 1924, the idea belongs to the famous gardener A.Ya. Abolin. Every day, park employees change the date to the current one in the lower part, the middle segment is occupied by a flower clock, and at the top is the name of the city in a semicircle.

Eagle sculpture in Kislovodsk

A powerful, proud bird with a snake in its claws is a symbol of victory over the disease and, one might say, the resort itself as a health zone. It is located, like many other memorable places, in the Resort Park. The bronze eagle seemed to have just landed on the top of the rocks. Its large outstretched wings symbolically resemble the outlines of the peaks of the Caucasus Mountains.

Mirror Pond and Crystal Stream Waterfall

A small elegant pavilion was erected near the shore of the pond in the Lower Park. The reservoir fascinates with its original shape. The idea of the architect Baykov was to create a single ensemble. The connecting link between the gazebo and the pond is water flowing down the flat surface of a special sheet in the floor and forming a smooth continuous stream called glass.

Fountain "Frogs"

The resort park is equipped with several fountains. The humorous coloring of one of them constantly attracts visitors. In the center there is a tall bowl on a figured leg. Along the main side of the reservoir there are figures of frogs, and streams of water from their mouths strive to fall into the central bowl. The sculptural composition has been around for many years; it was discovered back in 1895.

Colonnade

The main entrance to the Resort Park is considered one of the symbols of the resort. It was built according to Semenov's design in the neoclassical style. The central part is made up of 2 tiers, and the main line bends in a perfect semicircle. The complex was opened in 1913, it was assumed that a restaurant would eventually be built on the flat roof of the first tier, but the idea remained unrealized.

Cascade staircase

The development of the northern side of the park area began at the end of the 19th century. The decision to expand the territory of the Resort Park led to the construction of a staircase made in the style of ancient classics and organically complementing the entrance architectural ensemble. The project was created by architects Shevchuk and Zalesskaya. The staircase consists of 2 parts of 170 steps each with a landing between them.

Museum "Dacha-Chaliapin"

Chaliapin really loved to relax in Kislovodsk and that’s why I come here, he rented a house for his family. Which is located among centuries-old pine trees. The mansion was built in Art Nouveau style in 1903. Now a museum has been set up in the mansion, which is called “Chaliapin’s Dacha”. By visiting it you will learn a lot of interesting things from the life of Fyodor Chaliapin and about the life of people of that time. The museum is open seven days a week, break from 12:00 to 13:00. What the museum looks like, look at the photos and videos in the article.

Resort Park

It is considered the second largest man-made park in Europe. The territory is 965.76 hectares. The prerequisite for its creation was the presence of mineral waters, which attracted a large number of people. The authorities decided to carry out systematic landscaping and create conditions for proper recreation. Gradually the park was divided into 3 parts. The most interesting objects are:

  • Colonnade;
  • Cascade staircase;
  • Valley of Roses;
  • Lermontov site;
  • Mirror Pond;
  • Horseshoe Museum;
  • grotto "Kissing Corner"

Valley of Roses

A stunningly beautiful corner of the park. Although calling it a corner is not entirely correct, the rose garden occupies almost 2 hectares. More than 35 types of roses bloom from May to October, creating an oasis of incredible beauty. The fragrance spreads throughout most of the park.

Children's town on Resort Boulevard

Where to go in Kislovodsk with a child in the warm season? It is worth going to the very center of the resort town. Here from March to October there is a children's playground with colorful attractions and trampolines. In addition, there is a sports and development complex with safe exercise equipment. While children are having fun on the attractions, parents can use the treadmill or horizontal bar.

The question arises, where to go for a snack in Kislovodsk with children? There are several cafes near the children's playground where you can order healthy dishes or pamper your kids with French fries and pizza.

Profitable offer

The planting pattern of the bushes is similar to a chessboard, where inside each cell, separated by a walking path, a delicate palette of shades reigns. From the park observation deck, the territory of the rose garden looks like a huge bud with a stem and leaves extending to the side. Between the segments of the main flower bed, fountains sprinkle water to humidify the air.

Ring Mountain

An amazing natural formation created by nature. The mountain is located in the northern part of the city, famous for its huge opening at an altitude of 900 m. Only one road leads to the Ring; on the other sides it is protected by steep cliffs.

Address: southern spur of the Borgustan ridge.

Honey Falls

There are 5 waterfalls in total, 3 originate from the Alinovka River, the rest are located along the Echki-Bash riverbed. According to local legend, the name appeared due to the huge number of wild bees that lived along the river banks. In the spring, stormy waters picked up old nests with last year's honey reserves and carried them through underground grottoes downstream. At this time, the water in the rivers became sweetish. With the climate change, the bees are gone, but the legend lives on. At the foot there are several small reservoirs.

Red and gray stones

They remained as a reminder of the ancient sea that roared in this place many thousands of years ago. Active tectonic processes have changed the area beyond recognition. Huge blocks that were the seabed remained. Under the influence of wind and rain, they turned into intricate sculptures. The gray boulders serve as an excellent viewing platform. Nitrogen hydroxide gives sandstone its red tint. Located in the Resort Park.

Observation deck at the upper cable car station

The best position for a panoramic view is at the top of the hill in the Resort Park. It's a long walk; many people use the cable car. In a few minutes it delivers you to the site, from where you can endlessly admire the landscapes spread out below. In clear weather you can see Elbrus.

Rome mountain

At its top, evidence of human life has been preserved in the form of man-made steps, geometrically correct bowls of reservoirs, and sand-covered ruins. There are many caves on the slopes.

Mount Kaban

The top of the Dzhinalsky ridge is similar in outline to a lying animal with powerful withers. At the foot there are impenetrable thickets of bushes, including hawthorn, wild rose and frankincense. The tourist route to the top starts from Minutka station.

Big Saddle Mountain

The dominant height of the Dzhinalsky ridge rises to 1408 meters, from the height the spurs of the Caucasus Mountains, the double-headed Elbrus, and the outskirts of Kislovodsk and Pyatigorsk are clearly visible. In spring, a multicolored flower carpet unfolds on the slopes and there is an incessant hum from thousands of bees.

Lermontovsky waterfall

Among the interesting and beautiful places in Kislovodsk, the waterfall on the Olkhovka River is especially popular. The height of the fall of the stream is small, about 3 m, but the beauty of the fan-like jets framed by small rainbows is mesmerizing. The picturesque corner has access in the lower and upper parts; all that remains is to choose the most successful angle for a memorable photo.

Lermontov rock

The poet often visited the vicinity of Kislovodsk and admired the luxurious blossoms of nature from some hill. It is difficult to say whether he was on this particular rock in the gorge of the Olkhovka River. It was named after its location, being on the territory of the museum-reserve named after. Lermontov. Due to erosion, it acquired unusual shapes, and according to archaeologists, evidence could have been preserved in the depths of the rock that people lived in these places long before our era.

Cathedral of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker

The appearance of the temple was recreated according to old drawings. Despite its impressive size, the three-altar cathedral looks strictly and harmoniously, bringing together several architectural styles.

Kislovodsk Dolphinarium

Dolphins are unique creatures with developed intelligence. Those who have not yet decided where to go in Kislovodsk with children should pay attention to the local dolphinarium. Five-meter jumps, bright splashes and jokes from trainers leave no one indifferent. Interesting performances leave a lot of impressions. The performance will be especially useful for children who have suffered stress. Dolphins are real psychotherapists. For an additional fee, anyone can swim with marine mammals and take pictures with them.

Damn grottoes

They are located almost opposite the Lermontov Rock in the gorge of the Olkhovka River. To see the details, you will have to come close to the foot. Local residents talk about their mystical properties. In windy weather, a melancholy howl comes from there, resulting from the unique acoustics of cracks and caves.

Lermontov site

A small gazebo houses a bust of the poet and lines from a poem about the Caucasus carved in stone. The site is located very well, opposite the entrance to the Resort Park. In the lower tier there is a symbolic chamber with a sculpture of the Demon imprisoned in it.

Museum of History and Local Lore "Kislovodsk Fortress"

The rich history of the region is embodied in valuable exhibits of thematic collections. The building was part of a chain of military fortifications and is an architectural monument. The museum there opened in 1965, with exhibitions of daggers, highlander clothing, household items and furniture. Next to the museum part there is a sanatorium “Fortress”.

Address: Mira Ave., 11.

Kurortny Boulevard of Kislovodsk

The main pedestrian area of the resort is small. Its length barely reaches 500 m, but the streets of the capital can envy the liveliness. The main decoration every season is the lush flower beds, seductive smells emanate from the cafe, and the spurs of the Borgustan ridge are visible from the square.

Kislovodsk mountain astronomical station

The observatory began its work in 1948. From a station on the Shatjatmaz plateau at an altitude of two thousand meters above sea level, asteroids and solar activity are monitored. This location is due to better visibility at a higher altitude and away from city dust.

Reviews

  • Milana, 31 years old Excellent place, filled with fresh air, good climate. Huge spruce trees in the park caused favorable sensations. I was charged with positivity and energy for the whole next year from the Narzan baths. I visited the gallery of mineral waters - there was no limit to my admiration. We stayed at the Victoria sanatorium. I give the hotel a five plus for customer service, maintenance, and service.
  • Kristina, 38 years old, I like Kislovodsk because it’s great here at any time. I would like to be in the city more in the fall. Because, firstly, I don’t like a lot of vacationers. Secondly, at this time of year the air here is the purest. The park is undoubtedly a good place. But I prefer to walk along the ancient streets of Lermontov. The symphony concert at the State Philharmonic left a lot of impressions.
  • Evgeniy, 41 years old We rested at the Kislovodsk Central Sanatorium of the Russian Ministry of Defense for military personnel, the food was very tasty. The condition of our room was satisfactory. The attractions that I recommend you visit are, of course, the cable car and waterfalls. I also remember the dolphinarium.
  • Anastasia, 48 years old Kislovodsk, with its cultural and historical heritage, filled my heart with positive impressions. I visited Chaliapin’s house and ordered a tour with a literary and musical program. I advise people who love classical music to enjoy one of the concerts at the Kislovodsk Philharmonic. I went to see a production of the opera “Eugene Onegin” and really enjoyed it.

Kislovodsk resort park

Caucasian Mineralnye Vody is considered a healing resort; families with children often go there on vacation. But in sanatoriums it is difficult to interest a child in inhalations, baths and mud applications - the question arises of what to do with the child in his free time.

Our selection includes several ideas for a family vacation.

Cafe "Snezhinka"

Address

: Kislovodsk, Kirova street, 1A

A legendary cafe, known to all residents of Kislovodsk and everyone who has ever been here. The cafe is located in the very center of the city, and the prices there are more than affordable: a milkshake is 50 rubles, a donut with chocolate or condensed milk is 25. Because of this, you can go overboard with sweets. There are always a lot of people here at any time of the year. But the service is fast, the main thing is to find a free seat and take it on time.
