History[ | ]
The appearance of the city is associated with the discovery of the Sorsk copper-molybdenum deposit in 1910[4]. In 1914, the Erbinskaya station on the Achinsk-Minusinsk railway began operating. In 1928-1934, the settlement belonged to the Charkovsky village council (Uybat village). In 1935-1954, the Saigachinsky village council was located at the Erbinskaya station in the Ust-Abakan region. In 1939, construction began on the molybdenum plant and the workers' settlement (village) Sora[4]. By the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the RSFSR dated December 31, 1954, the settlement of Sora, Ust-Abakansky district, Khakass Autonomous Region, Krasnoyarsk Territory, was classified as a workers' settlement and given the name - workers' settlement of Dzerzhinsky
.
On March 3, 1955, the Dzerzhinsky village council of the Ust-Abakan region was formed. By decree of September 15, 1966, the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR transformed the working village of Dzerzhinsky,
Ust-Abakansky district, Khakass Autonomous Region, Krasnoyarsk Territory, into a city of regional subordination and gave it the name - the city of
Sorsk
. On October 21, 1966, the Sorsk City Council of Deputies of the Ust-Abakan District was formed. In 2003, the city acquired the status of a municipal entity, and in 2004 received the status of an independent urban district.
