How to get to Gelendzhik from Moscow by train, plane or bus?

We'll tell you how to get to Gelendzhik from Moscow by train, plane or bus. This destination is increasingly gaining popularity in the summer, since in a domestic seaside resort, it turns out, you can relax no worse than in Turkey or Egypt.

The beach season on the Black Sea coast in the Krasnodar Territory begins in May, but at this time it is only possible to sunbathe and have fun on land. The water remains relatively cool. And only at the end of June the sun warms up enough to enjoy swimming in the sea. And then thousands of tourists come to Gelendzhik to spend their vacation on the shores of the warm sea. This influx continues until September. All this affects the cost of travel packages and the availability of transport in the desired direction.

By car

The M4 highway connects Moscow and Gelendzhik. We always try to leave at night or early in the morning. The fact is that this road is in great demand and traffic jams on it are very frequent. The toll section of the road to Voronezh usually runs like clockwork. I would like to note that the reduced tariff on toll sections of the road is valid from late evening until 9 am. The condition of the road surface is generally good, but there are, of course, some off-road areas. Our route continues through Rostov-on-Don and Krasnodar. My husband and I are both experienced drivers, so we easily replace each other. But, there are a large number of campsites along the route where, if necessary, you can have a snack or stop for the night. There are a large number of gas stations along the entire route, so there is no need to carry extra cargo in the form of cans of gasoline. Closer to Gelendzhik, the road becomes winding, with constant slopes, so I do not recommend exceeding the speed of 60 km/h in this section.

How to get to Gelendzhik by bus

Bus at the bus station in Gelendzhik

In this case, the price will be about 3,100 rubles even in high season and there is no need to make transfers. It takes exactly 24 hours to travel with several stops. For example, at 10 am we take the bus in Moscow, the next morning at 10 am we get off in Gelendzhik. No transfers!

Holidays in Gelendzhik

The holiday season lasts in Gelendzhik from May to mid-October. But, it’s true, if you can sunbathe and even get burned already in May, swimming at this time is still cool - the sea warms up to a comfortable 20-22oC only by the end of June. The period when it will be difficult to spontaneously rent a room or apartment is the end of July and the beginning of September. The rest of the time, vacationers can choose from a large number of options both in the private sector and in numerous boarding houses, holiday homes and hotels. Unfortunately, there is no train station in Gelendzhik; direct flights from Moscow are carried out only by plane. But those who want to relax here can travel by train to the nearest railway stations, which are located in Krasnodar, Tuapse, Anapa and Novorossiysk.

This travel option is the most expensive, but also the most comfortable. There are daily flights from Moscow in this direction. Travel time is about 2 hours 30 minutes. Trip to Kabardinka: what’s faster and cheaper?

As for savings, there is no significant difference between a train and a car. For the entire journey from Moscow to Kabardinka by car, gasoline will cost approximately 8 thousand rubles.

A ticket for a compartment car on a high-speed train to Novorossiysk will cost about 7 thousand rubles. However, by car you arrive at your final destination, and from Novorossiysk you still need to get to the bus station and from there take a regular bus for several hours to Kabardinka.

In the end, the difference is small; by train you can save a couple of hundred rubles, and by car you will spend a little more on gasoline, but you will get there about 7-8 hours earlier if you take the E115 highway.

In terms of speed, the safest option is air travel. On a direct flight Moscow-Gelendzhik the flight takes only 2 hours 40 minutes. From Gelendzhik to Kabardinka you can quickly get by taxi or public transport.

From Gelendzhik to the resort village it is only 11 km. This is the most convenient and fastest way to get to the resort. Thus, only 3-4 hours and you are already relaxing in Kabardinka. The road from Anapa will take a little longer; the drive to the resort is only an hour and a half.

Air travel will cost several thousand rubles more than traveling by car or train, but it is a significant time saver. However, some airlines hold promotions, so you can find an economy class ticket for the Moscow – Anapa flight for only 4,500 rubles.

To buy a ticket

Traditionally, train tickets can be purchased at ticket offices at railway stations. In this case, you receive a ticket immediately on Russian Railways letterhead.

The opportunity to buy a ticket online using the official Russian Railways website is becoming increasingly popular. To use it, you will need to register and create a personal account. Here you can purchase your boarding pass without leaving your home. Most trains have an electronic check-in service, for which you only need an electronic ticket and a general passport. Also available on the website are diagrams of train cars, a list of amenities offered (air conditioning, the ability to transport pets, etc.) and a rating that will help in choosing a train.

You can pay for tickets using credit cards (including MIR), as well as using electronic payment systems. Ready-to-use boarding passes will be sent to the email address specified during check-in and will remain in your personal account, from where they can be printed or downloaded to your mobile device.

If you don’t have the time or desire to register, then the easiest option is to use the services of the ticket sales service Tutu.ru. The search form is shown below. You can get your boarding pass at the station ticket office, but trains on the Moscow-Gelendzhik route have electronic registration, so you don’t need to print anything out.

According to passenger reviews, purchasing tickets on the Tutu.ru website has a number of advantages:

  • The site is easy to use, simple and accessible, the purchase form is easy to understand the first time;
  • The process of purchasing a ticket takes only a few minutes and there is no need to go to the departure station and stand in line for a ticket;
  • Possibility of choosing a carriage and seat;
  • You can pay for your train ticket in cash or by credit card online;
  • Cashback and promotional codes allow you to save on purchasing a ticket;
  • Reliability: you receive confirmation of the purchase of an electronic train ticket by email or SMS, with an enclosed boarding coupon and many information links (for example, to your personal account), as well as technical support phone numbers. A few hours before departure, SMS reminders with detailed information about the trip (departure station, time, train number, carriage and seat) are sent to your specified phone number;
  • After purchasing a ticket, the Tutu.ru service offers free coupons for discounts in various online stores.

You can select and purchase bus tickets by logging into Avtoticket.com.

Alternative options

Naturally, there are other options other than getting to Gelendzhik by train. So, you can choose an airplane, for example. In principle, this is much more convenient, because the flight will only take a couple of hours. But keep in mind that this option will cost two to three times more. Naturally, the cost of air travel will depend on the season and the location you choose. This option is also convenient because it will allow you to be right in the resort town itself, since the airport is located there.

There is another option - go by car or bus

However, if you take into account the fact that you have to travel about one and a half thousand kilometers (about 18 hours), and all this in a sitting position, then it doesn’t turn out to be very tempting. The bus option will cost not much less than the train - 1000-500 rubles

If we talk about a car, then a trip on it has an economic benefit only if it is full. Before such a trip, one must take into account the state of health, and older people should also take into account that it can be very difficult to bear such a load. Children usually also have a very hard time with sedentary transfers. If tourists have a limited budget, then they need to think about other options other than getting to Gelendzhik by train.
