The favorable season for vacationers lasts here from early May to mid-October; sea water heats up from 18 to 24 degrees. There are 114 beach areas on the Gelendzhik coastline, almost all of them are pebbly. The total length of the beaches is 20,423 meters. In the very center of Gelendzhik Bay, a sandy beach was specially artificially created, its length is 1000 meters, and its area occupies 5.5 hectares.

Gelendzhik is famous for its mineral springs. In the vicinity of the city, 5 self-flowing mineral springs and 18 deposits of useful mineral water are registered. Almost all sanatoriums and health resorts use sodium, chloride, hydrocarbonate waters, which contain low concentrations of boron, iodine and bromine, iodine waters from the Solntsedarskoye deposit. “Gelendzhik” medicinal table water is in great demand among the population of the Krasnodar Territory and beyond, its industrial production has been established. Gelendzhik sanatoriums annually accept patients with cardiovascular, respiratory, endocrine, nervous system, and musculoskeletal diseases. Therapeutic mud is delivered to the sanatorium from the Taman Peninsula. The following health resorts are considered the most popular in Gelendzhik: “Blue Wave”, “Gelendzhik”, “Primorye”, named after. M. Lomonosov, “Red talka”, “Sunny Beach”, “Rus”, “Chernomorets”. What is the most convenient way to get from Gelendzhik to the dolmens

Dolmens are located throughout Greater Gelendzhik, so the trip will take a minimum of time, and many dolmens are easy to reach for elderly people and small children, no need to cross rivers and dense subtropical forest!

I’ll say right away that the famous dolmens in the Lower Olympus Park near the Aya River are artificial buildings of modern people, these are not the same magical dolmens!

There is also a beautiful, mighty dolmen-2007 at the top of the Markokht ridge. The structure was assembled from slabs of destroyed real dolmens; such slabs are scattered throughout the Black Sea forest. Volunteers transported several slabs to a place visited by tourists and built a new dolmen. For example, such amateur activities are not very interesting to me. I want something truly ancient and preserved!

The real dolmens are located near Mount Nekis, 6 km from the city towards the village of Svetly. You need to drive along the M-4 highway, near the gas station, turn onto the opposite highway and after 50 m you will see a dirt road and go up to the top. There are 2 well-preserved dolmens, the Solar and the Moon, and an incredibly beautiful view!

Alternative options

Naturally, there are other options other than getting to Gelendzhik by train. So, you can choose an airplane, for example. In principle, this is much more convenient, because the flight will only take a couple of hours. But keep in mind that this option will cost two to three times more. Naturally, the cost of air travel will depend on the season and the location you choose. This option is also convenient because it will allow you to be right in the resort town itself, since the airport is located there.

There is another option - go by car or bus

However, if you take into account the fact that you have to travel about one and a half thousand kilometers (about 18 hours), and all this in a sitting position, then it doesn’t turn out to be very tempting. The bus option will cost not much less than the train - 1000-500 rubles

If we talk about a car, then a trip on it has an economic benefit only if it is full. Before such a trip, one must take into account the state of health, and older people should also take into account that it can be very difficult to bear such a load. Children usually also have a very hard time with sedentary transfers. If tourists have a limited budget, then they need to think about other options other than getting to Gelendzhik by train.

To Gelendzhik by bus

In addition to Novorossiysk, regular buses to Gelendzhik run from most notable cities in southern Russia. In particular, flights from Krasnodar usually operate at least once an hour (the majority go through Novorossiysk and Kabardinka, the rest through Goryachiy Klyuch and Arkhipo-Osipovka). Selected flights from central Russia are also available. Tourists heading to resort villages around Gelendzhik can also use direct buses from cities in the South of Russia to some of these places, in particular Divnomorsk, Arkhipo-Osipovka, Dzhanhot. The approximate price of a trip in 2016 is 1.8–2 rubles per kilometer. The intercity bus station in Gelendzhik is located about a kilometer from the city center near the Novorossiysk - Tuapse highway. Passengers heading to various points in the city can also request to be dropped off at locations closer to their destinations. The bus station itself is served by local buses 2, 6 and 40.

To continue your trip within the city or to nearby communities, you may need to go or move to a commuter bus station. It is located in the city center and serves mainly routes to neighboring resort villages. Several more similar routes leave from the so-called central stop on Kirova Street.

Information for motorists

When traveling to Gelendzhik by car, you should keep one feature in mind. The main M-4 highway, connecting the center of the country with the south (Moscow - Voronezh - Rostov-on-Don - Krasnodar) is one of the best in Russia at the moment: at least two lanes in each direction along the entire length, except for the final mountain section. However, about half of it is already paid, and the share of paid sections is growing all the time. The price in 2016 is about a ruble per kilometer, sometimes a little more. In addition, in the summer the M-4 is prone to traffic jams.

There are no paid sections south of Rostov-on-Don yet, but they will appear soon. You can get around these future southern sections along an alternative and approximately equal in kilometer road - from Rostov through Azov, Starominskaya, Timashevsk, Slavyansk-on-Kuban.
