Memorial of Glory

In the park opposite the House of Culture, there is a white stone slab on which granite plaques are placed with the names of Vityazevites who died on the battlefields of the Great Patriotic War.

The upper left corner of the slab is decorated with a bronze bas-relief depicting a portrait of an ordinary soldier of the Soviet army. At the foot of the memorial an eternal flame burns, and in the distance there is a real-size model of the T-34 tank. Every year, rallies dedicated to Victory Day are held at this place.

Nearby there are ruins of a stone dugout and fragments of batteries that did not survive. On the platform behind the gun there is a row of steles on which you can read the names of the soldiers who fought at this place, as well as historical information about the events of August 1942.

The memorial is located on the territory of St. George's Church and is dedicated to the memory of Vityazevites of all nationalities who suffered during the years of Stalin's terror. The granite monument is made in the form of a house with a foundation, roof, chimney and window with a lit candle. In the middle is a bas-relief of an Orthodox cross.

Church of St. George the Victorious

The history of St. George's Church is intertwined with many legends. They say that the first temple was built during the Vityazevskaya village in gratitude for the victory over the Ottoman troops. The exact date of construction is unknown. Presumably, it appeared between 1827 and 1837.

The ancient temple served the people for almost a hundred years, after which it was closed during the period of Stalin’s terror. For some time, the rector of the church, Ivan Popandopulo, held services in secret, but soon a denunciation was received against him, and the priest was shot.

By 1990, only ruins remained of the 19th-century building. Nevertheless, the land was returned to the church and construction of a new temple began on it. The work lasted several years and was sponsored by the Greek community, rural entrepreneurs and other parishes of Vityazevo.

The new temple was made of stone in the pseudo-Russian style. The entrance has the shape of a portico supported by four columns. The massiveness of the structure is smoothed out by arched openings and circular staircases, which give the building elegance. The temple is crowned with five golden domes, and the adjacent bell tower is covered with a hipped roof with a cross.

In 2011, pointed extensions and an octagonal belfry were added to the architectural ensemble. Currently, the St. George Church operates and is the center of Orthodox life in Vityazevo.

Church of the Icon of the Mother of God “Joy of All Who Sorrow”

The church was built in 2011 at the New Cemetery. The small building is made of stone and looks like an octagon on a quadrangle with side wings.

The temple is covered by a helmet-shaped dome with a dome at the end, and a through belfry, located on the roof of the western wing, rushes into the sky with a gilded spire.

The chapel is a small stone building, decorated with half-columns, a kokoshnik, decorative niches with icons and a golden dome that completes the hipped roof. In front of the chapel there is a white stone rotunda, and behind it there is a terrace separated by balusters from the park area.
