History of Tuapse

The territory where the modern city of Tuapse is located was inhabited by people thousands of years ago, which is confirmed by archaeological finds. This is evidenced by the dolmens built here more than 5,000 years ago. The name of the resort town comes from the Adyghe word, which meant “mesopotamia”. The territory became part of Russia in 1838 after the signing of the Treaty of Adrianople. In 1864, the village of Velyaminovskaya was built near Tuapse, which soon became a settlement and joined the resort. Roads are also being laid, a port is being built, and a lighthouse is being erected.

In 1916, Tuapse was given the status of a city, after which tourism began to actively develop here. In the twentieth century, a large number of boarding houses, sanatoriums, and health resorts were built. Modern tourism infrastructure includes luxury hotels, modern hotels and resort complexes, and recreation centers.

Tuapse embankment (Marine Boulevard)

The embankment in Tuapse is a favorite place for walks among citizens and tourists. The boulevard stretches along the coast for 10 km from the Vodnik stadium to the seaport. In 2022, the street was reconstructed, thanks to which tiles appeared on the paths. On the sea side, benches and a cast-iron fence were installed, flower beds were laid out, and entry to vehicles was closed.

Near the embankment there are architectural and historical sights of the city: October Revolution Square, “Singing” fountains, sculptural compositions, the Defense Museum, the Sea Trade Port, a sundial and much more.

The best beaches of Tuapse with photos and descriptions

The cozy beaches of the resort town await tourists from the beginning of June and will delight them with a wonderful and sunny holiday until the end of September. In the city itself, all the beaches are perfectly equipped for travelers of any age. There are interesting entertainments here for both the little ones and adults. In the central part of the resort there are several well-maintained pebble beaches. A little further from the city there are even wild beaches for lovers of such recreation.

Central beach of Tuapse

Behind the Marine Station is the longest Central Beach - an amazing and favorite place for all tourists who come to Tuapse. It is very convenient to relax here with small children, since the entrance to the sea is gentle, pebbly, with a small admixture of sand. In addition, the infrastructure here is very developed: cafes and canteens, attractions and water activities, playgrounds, boat trips - everyone will find exactly what they need for a good rest.

Seaside beach Tuapse

One of the most picturesque and beautiful Tuapse beaches is “Primorsky”. It offers a wonderful view of the green and beautiful natural cape.

Beach "Spring"

Another place that guests of the resort will surely like is a gorgeous beach called “Spring”. It will be appreciated by lovers of a calm and quiet family holiday. It is very easy and simple to get here due to convenient transport accessibility. The beach itself is very beautiful and well-maintained; absolutely all vacationers will definitely find entertainment here.

There are two more interesting wild Tuapse beaches: at Cape Kadosh, which is located on the outskirts of the resort, and a secluded beach near the Kiseleva rock.

Cape Kadosh Beach and Kiseleva Beach

The unique beach of Cape Kadosh is a little rocky, but still heterogeneous in some places. The wide pebble surfaces of the shore are considered the most comfortable for relaxation. In addition, there are also small areas with very large and uncut boulders at the very edge of the sea. Beautiful paths lead to Kadosh beach through a wonderful and picturesque forest park. At the height of the season, there may be more tourists on Kiseleva beach. These places are very popular and often visited by savage tourists. They are not always convenient to reach by car, as they are located a little outside the city limits. But here you can find excellent places to relax in tents.

Wild beaches and nudist beaches of Tuapse

There are also wild beaches in the Tuapse region near the following villages: Agoy, Dederkoy and Dzhubga. All of them are located near the central beaches of the listed villages. Civilization has not yet reached these protected corners. The coastline is rugged with rocks, and there are boulders on the beaches themselves, making it difficult to move along them. Getting here is also not easy. The road follows narrow paths and there are often steep slopes. There are no cafes or shops; this must be taken into account when choosing this place, especially if you have a child with you.

The nudist beach in Tuapse is located near the confluence of the Pauk River into the sea and Cape Kadosh. The beach is surrounded by cliffs and the coastline is dotted with cobblestones with small pebble islands.

Children's beach in Tuapse

One of the most charming and cozy beaches suitable for families with children is the World Children's Beach, which is located in the village of Novomikhailovskoye. It is considered one of the best, since the coastline is completely sandy, and the entrance to the sea is gentle and shallow, which is very convenient for families with children. Several children's camps are located on this beach, but the other half is given over to visiting tourists. Entrance to the beach through the camp itself is paid; the road to it goes through the entire children's center, along the mountains with beautiful picturesque landscapes. There are awnings for protection from the sun and a cafe with delicious food. But you can stay further away from the camp, because the beach is very long and large.

Gold Coast Beach

Another favorite place to relax is the sandy beach in the village of Lermontovo called “Golden Coast”. It is located very close to the center of Tuapse and is very easy to get to. This coastline consists of fine sand, although there are occasional pebbles. The beach is great for families with children, as it has a very convenient and gentle entrance to the sea.

Beach in the village of Olginka

Another beach in the village of Olginka is very suitable for a family holiday with kids, as it has the same shallow sea and easy access. This quiet place away from the noisy bustle of the city will be appreciated by lovers of a quiet and measured holiday.

Rosmorport Tower

The seaport vessel traffic control tower is located on the central square of Tuapse. People call it “lollipop” because of its appearance: a round blue ball on a concrete pillar. The tower was built in 2003, its height is 60 meters. It is equipped with an electronic clock showing local time and air temperature.

What to see in the city and surrounding areas

One day is not enough to explore all the most interesting things, so set aside at least a couple of days in your schedule for exciting excursions. Let's start with the main city locations.

Sycamore Alley

The longest plane tree path in Europe. The pedestrian route starts near October Revolution Square, runs through the center of the main street and goes 2 kilometers deep into the city. There are benches along the alley. They are all in the shade. Also on the alley there is a monument to V.I. Lenin, fountains “Dolphin and Mermaid”, “Meetings” and many interesting sculptures;

Sundial "Parus"

One of the decorations of the resort. The landscape design project was developed to decorate Vyborg, but then it was decided to implement it in the Krasnodar region. A sundial with hands in the shape of sails adorns Primorsky Boulevard and shows the exact time;

Port control tower

People call it "Chupa Chups". The building was built in 2003. The peculiarity is that the tower has a round glass shape, which is associated with candy. Visiting the building by outsiders is prohibited, but it acts as a decoration of the city and is often photographed against its background;

Fountain "Stone Flower"

One of the favorite places among vacationers. The construction has a plot design based on the story of P.P. Bazhova. Master Danil is depicted. He carves a huge flower from a stone, and the mistress of the copper mountain watches him. She is depicted as a lizard with a crown on her head. The special feature of the “Stone Flower” fountain is that the lighting turns on in the evenings. It looks unusual and romantic. It is not surprising that lovers make dates in this place;

"Singing" fountain

It is located on October Revolution Square. It was built in 2012 on a dry principle - there is no outdoor pool. This allows vacationers to go inside the fountain. The stream of water in one of the funnels rises to a height of 18 meters. It works daily, with a break of 20 minutes every hour. Until 2016, only 5 musical compositions were played, but now their number has been increased. In the evening, when the composition changes, the illumination of the water jet changes.

Museum of Local Lore

It is always interesting to learn something from the history of the city you visit, and where, if not in the city museum, they will tell you the most interesting stories and legends and show you unique exhibits. The museum occupies a mansion that was built in the 19th century. There are three halls, the exhibitions of which are dedicated to the history of the city and the Great Patriotic War. Archaeological finds - tools of labor and hunting, dishes and jewelry - will tell about the ancient people who once lived in these places. Collections collected by local residents are also presented to visitors.

33 meter waterfall

The unofficial name of the waterfall is Perun, and it is considered the largest in the Tuapse region. The natural water giant is located behind the village of Krasnoye, which can be reached by train or bus. You will find a waterfall on the Kazenny Stream, on the right side of the river of the same name. It is not easy to get to, so it is excluded from many excursion programs. If you nevertheless go to “visit” Perun, then it is worth checking the route with the local residents. The waterfall is especially beautiful in the spring, during the flood period - the impression of a column of water falling from a height is amazing.

Dolmens

Not far from the city, near the village of Prigorodny, there is a historical complex of dolmens. They represent an ancient structure for burying the dead. The dolmen is made up of five slabs, four of which are walls, and the fifth is the roof. A round hole was cut out in one of the slabs, which was the entrance to the burial chamber. Archaeologists claim that these structures appeared at least in 1300 BC. Many believe that these places have special energy and are capable of healing and fulfilling their deepest desires. You can go to the dolmens on your own or as part of an excursion group. In the latter case, the guide will take you past the Rock of Wishes, the Stone of Male Power, the Tunnel to the Future, the Glade of Wishes, the Wheel of Fortune and other “magical” places. Almost everywhere you can perform a small ritual to fulfill your plans. Usually the guide tells you how to do this, but for independent tourists there are hints everywhere in the form of small signs with a detailed description of the “magic session”.

Canyon of the Beshenki River

This is a stunningly beautiful place that is definitely worth seeing! You will understand immediately why the river has such a name as soon as you are nearby. Stormy streams hit the Caucasus mountains, the riverbed winds back and forth, the water boils and rages - there will be enough impressions for a long time. It is best to go to the river with an excursion group. As a rule, tourists arrive here on a comfortable bus, and the trip involves a delicious lunch, a visit to the bathhouse and swimming in designated areas. The traditional route through the canyon takes 2.5 hours, and the entire trip will take about 5 hours.

Kiselev's Rock

Its second name is the Rock of Tears. It is located 4 kilometers from Tuapse at the mouth of the Aga River near Cape Kadosh. There is a beautiful legend associated with this place. If you believe her, then once upon a time a beautiful girl and a brave horseman lived here. They were in love with each other and had to meet at the top of a cliff to escape. However, the young lady wanted to once again be convinced of the sincerity of her chosen one’s feelings, and without waiting for her, he threw himself into the sea. The would-be bride had no choice but to mourn her beloved for many years. One day, unable to cope with her grief any longer, she jumped off a cliff. Since then, this place has been called the Rock of Tears. But let's not talk about sad things. The height of this monumental creation of nature is 43 meters. At its foot is a beach where you can sunbathe and swim. Getting here is a bit difficult, but the easiest way to do it is by boat. The tour lasts about one and a half hours. If you want to admire nature longer, it is better to sign up for the last “session”.

Sycamore Alley

In the central part of the city there is the famous landmark of Tuapse - Plane Tree Alley: its length is more than 2 km, thanks to which it ranks 1st in Europe in terms of its length.

The history of the alley dates back to 1913, when in honor of the 300th anniversary of the Romanov dynasty, festive events were held throughout the country and alleys were laid. At this time, Tuapse high school students planted plane trees - one of the most common trees in the southern part of Russia. Along the alley there are lanterns, benches and trash cans, and paths made of multi-colored tiles.

Tuapse seaport

The marina in Tuapse is one of the most impressive and busiest on the Black Sea coast. It receives ships from 36 countries, which moor at 19 berths.

The seaport was built back in 1898, and to this day it is engaged in the transportation of petroleum products, passenger transportation, as well as the sending and receiving of cargo: fertilizers, vegetables and grain.

Interesting fountains

The Singing Fountain is the only fountain of its kind on the Black Sea coast with musical accompaniment without a bath. It was built according to the “dry” principle, the dimensions of the fountain are 30 by 17 m. In the evening, all the jets are illuminated in different colors, which change depending on the music playing at that moment.

The sound of melodies occurs constantly, with 20 minute breaks every hour. The fountain is designed to play 15 melodies:

  • Classical music.
  • Popular retro compositions.
  • Songs by contemporary performers.

Next to the singing fountain there is a sundial, and not far away, in the park, a new fountain called “Stone Flower” was built. It is an interesting composition created based on Bazhov’s tales. Danila the master makes his dream come true, carves a flower of unprecedented beauty from stone, and next to him is the owner of the copper mountain in the form of a lizard with a crown on her head. The entire composition is illuminated with multi-colored lights in the evening and at night, creating an unusual light and music performance.

Central city park

The history of the city park begins in the first half of the 20th century, when the hotel owner Tikhomirov set up a small arboretum near the coast, from where one could admire the sea and walk along the paths. In the 1950s, the city authorities restored the park, building a dance floor with a stage, a library, a restaurant and a large Concert Hall in this Tuapse landmark.

In 2015, a reconstruction was carried out in the Central City Park, but at the same time the color of the 19th century was recreated in it: the paths were paved with paving stones, new clubs, gazebos, and an observation deck were installed. In addition to everything, they built a “singing” fountain with classical music and bright lighting, children’s entertainment areas, rental of rollerblades, bicycles and other sports equipment.

Ancient buildings and gorgeous waterfalls

Tuapse (photos of the city and the beach, sights of nature and ancient architecture encourage tourists to visit these places again and again) in its vicinity on Mount Bogatyrka near the village of Prigorodnoye has intriguing ancient buildings - dolmens. These buildings are more than 3000 years old.

Their purpose still remains a mystery. People who know how to listen to nature claim that each building carries its own ancient energy, which subtly influences a person’s thoughts and emotions.

A route has been developed, following which you can explore these monuments. Near each there are tables with recommendations for carrying out the wishing ritual.

The complex consists of 9 buildings:

  • Dolmen of Prosperity. The creators of the tablets offer to communicate with the mysterious spirit of the Great Ancestor. Tourists describe its energy as soft and caring. The largest structure is carved from solid stone.

  • Rock of Desires. It is located not far from the first one. The name makes clear the purpose of his visit. They say that together with the dolmen of Prosperity they create a certain corridor that has a beneficial effect on a person’s thoughts and feelings.
  • Stone of male power . Reminds me of a phallic symbol. The energy here is filled with calm power.
  • Tunnel to the future (Dragon's Throat, Second Birth). Passing through it should cleanse a person of evil spirits, but he must be a fairly fit person.
  • Dolmen Totem . It is dilapidated and serves as a talisman.

  • Dolmen Happiness. The building has completely collapsed, but it fulfills its destiny.
  • Wheel of Desires. Pebbles are placed here to make your deepest wish.
  • Cup of life. A very large capacity, as conceived by the authors of the tables, should save you from troubles and troubles.

From May 15 to September 30, entrance to the route is paid; the rest of the time you can explore for free.

Less known is the megalithic complex of Psynako, located near the village of Anastasievka. There are only 4 of these in the world. It stands on a hill on a man-made foundation. The height of the walls is about 3 m; you can go inside along a special corridor.

The mountains of the Tuapse region are also famous for their beautiful waterfalls. Tourist routes leading to the most famous of them have been created.

Most visited waterfalls:

  • Perun. The highest waterfall (33 m). Located outside the village of Krasny. The best time to visit this place is in the spring, when its beauty is revealed in full splendor.

  • Serenades of love. Not far from the village of Nadzhigo there are these beautiful creations of nature. The guides tell a legend about the love of the God of the Forest for a beautiful girl, for whose gift he created this beauty. The largest of them has a height of 32 m, and there are several smaller ones nearby.
  • Waterfalls on the Dederkoy River. This is the most favorite tourist route. At the base of the first waterfall, a mountain lake with the purest water formed. They offer to get to the place on horseback, which further increases the attractiveness of the walk.
  • Bride's veil . It is located near the village of Novomikhailovskoye. Foaming streams of water resemble thin lace, which is why it got its name.

What to bring from Tuapse

Experts advise buying good gifts and souvenirs in the numerous shops that are literally at every turn in the center. There are especially many of them around Primorsky Boulevard and on the Galina Petrova pedestrian street.

A wonderful gift will be knitted items made from goat fluff made by local needlewomen, wooden dishes, jewelry made of silver and shells. Ceramics made from unfired clay deserve special attention. They are sold in local souvenir shops. These things are not only beautiful, but also useful. Especially if you buy a bottle or jug and pour local wine, you will get a tasty and original present.

As for products, the most common product brought from Tuapse is sudzhuk, a dry sausage with a spicy flavor. It can be stored even without a refrigerator. Homemade cheese, dried fish, spices and seasonings are popular. There is an increasing demand for homemade pomegranate sauce. Among the sweets, honey (both pure and with nuts), homemade jam, churchkhela, and nuts are brought from Tuapse.

It’s worth mentioning separately about Krasnodar tea. The choice of its types and blends is quite extensive: you can take just black, or with additives, or herbal.

Krasnodar wines are also a brand of the region. But it’s safer to buy them in stores, large or specialized ones. Those who decide to buy local wine on tap at the market should look for a “reputable” seller, rather than purchase the drink from the first merchant they come across.

Hill of Heroes

The Hill of Heroes memorial is located on a hill in the city center. There was a church here until the 40s of the 20th century, visible from any district of Tuapse. However, during the Great Patriotic War, the temple was destroyed, and anti-aircraft guns were installed in its place to conduct a defensive operation.

In 1965, they decided to erect a memorial complex in this place, and rename the place “Heroes Hill”. Gradually, memorial plaques with the names of soldiers, the Eternal Flame and the Monument to the Unknown Soldier appeared here. Nowadays, near this landmark of Tuapse there is a functioning church of St. Alexis, and the Local Lore Museum is located nearby.

Outside the city

The most striking sights of Tuapse are located outside the city:

  1. Kiselyov's Rock is the visiting card of the city. The sheer wall, 46 meters high, seems to have been cut off with a sharp knife, and at the foot there is a small beach.
  2. The Perun waterfall, 33 meters high, is the largest cascade in the Kuban. It is especially impressive during the spring flood, when a powerful stream rushes into the gorge with noise and roar.
  3. Turkey Mountain is an ideal destination for lovers of wildlife and outdoor activities. The ascent takes place along two routes - an easier one for beginners, and a steeper and more difficult one for experienced climbers.
  4. The Tuapse dolmens are ancient structures of unknown purpose, dating back to the 3rd-2nd centuries BC. Hundreds of them have been discovered in the Tuapse region, some are located within the city.
  5. Waterfalls on the Dederkoy River are a group of picturesque cascades at the mouth of the river of the same name. The largest of them reaches 7 m. An impromptu platform offers a stunning view of the gorge and lake. Hardy tourists will conquer the route.

You can look at the wonders of nature on your own, especially since not all of them are included in excursion routes.

Rock Kiseleva

The most picturesque natural monument in the vicinity of the resort town is considered to be the Kiseleva Rock. It is a rocky cliff 46 m high above sea level. It got its name from the landscape artist Alexander Kiselev, who at the beginning of the 20th century spent a lot of time working on it.

The painter was able to immortalize the rock in his paintings: “Descent to the Sea”, “Outskirts of Tuapse”. In addition, she appeared in the footage of the famous Soviet film “The Diamond Arm”, where the characters in the film called her “Black Stones”.

However, before Kiselev appeared in the city, this natural landmark of Tuapse had a different name: it was called the Rock of Tears. The Adyghe peoples had an ancient legend about the rich beauty Guash, who lived in these lands. She fell in love with the groom whom she was not allowed to marry. Then she ran away from home, meeting her lover on a rock. Here they were overtaken by a chase, and the young people chose to throw themselves into the water: the young man jumped first, followed by Guache, all in tears.

How to have fun on vacation?

The main attractions of Tuapse and the surrounding area are unique natural reserves, they tell about history, because this is the “City of Military Glory,” and about many famous people who lived or stayed here at different times. In case you are tired of the beach and the sea, we will tell you where to go for an interesting pastime.

Museums

There are three museums in the city:

  • Tuapse Museum of Local Lore named after Poletaev. It provides complete information about the history and development of the city.
  • Kiselev House-Museum. A professor at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts lived and worked here. The exhibition presents many personal belongings of the painter, documents and photographs, copies of paintings in which the artist mainly painted the Caucasus mountains and the Black Sea coast.
  • Tuapse Defense Museum. In it you can find out how the city was defended during the Great Patriotic War. Under constant bombing, people lifted the wounded, food and shells into the mountains, and did not stop repairing naval equipment in the port for a minute. The city was not surrendered to the Nazis. Visitors are moved to tears by the exhibition with wartime letters.

Places for leisurely walks

After a hot day in the evening you have the opportunity to go:

  • To the park of culture and recreation. In addition to attractions, there is a summer cinema; in the summer it often hosts pop concerts.
  • On Primorsky Boulevard, which stretches along the port. It is especially beautiful here at night.
  • On the shady Plane Tree Alley, there are many benches under the canopy of trees, fountains, and the Rossiya cinema, where you can wait out the midday heat while watching a movie.

Kiselev's Rock

This amazing natural place can rightfully be called the calling card of the city. A 46-meter stone cliff protrudes from the shore directly into the sea, it seems that it is smoothly polished.

The second name is the Rock of Tears, as there is a beautiful legend about the love of the girl Guash from a rich family and the poor horseman Dysheek. The girl's parents forbade her to meet her fiancé. Fleeing from the chase arranged by Guasha's father, Dysheyek fell from a cliff into the sea right in front of his beloved. For a long time she came to this place to mourn her beloved. And then, unable to live any longer without Dysheek, she threw herself into the depths of the sea. The Kiselev Rock was named later when the famous painter Kiselyov depicted it in his painting “The Rock of Tears”. This place is located 4 km from the city. You can get here with a boat tour. But it’s much more interesting to walk along the shore along the sea. This picturesque place was chosen by Leonid Gaidai to film one of the scenes of the comedy “The Diamond Arm”. It was here that Andrei Mironov walked along the surface of the sea.

Waterfalls

The unique and most beautiful attractions in Tuapse are its numerous waterfalls.

  • The largest is the Perun waterfall (water falls from a height of 33 meters). Getting there is easy. You need to take the train to Dachnaya station. You will immediately see a suspension bridge, along which you need to cross the river to the opposite bank. And then move along the river upstream. There will be signs along the way; the path to the waterfall passes through a fairytale forest with the purest air. Along the route you come across ancient mysterious structures - dolmens.
  • Waterfalls “Azure”, “Bear”, “Grey Beard” on the Dederkoy River. Take bus route No. 10 to the final stop “Stone Quarry”.
  • “Colonel” waterfalls on the Kamenisty stream near the Polkovnichey farm. This is a whole cascade of several waterfalls of varying beauty, power and height. Take a bus to the Polkovnichy farm.
  • Waterfalls on the Gryaznaya River (“Fan”, “Change” and others). You need to get to the village of Sadovoye, and from there it’s another 13-14 km to the waterfalls. Such a hike takes the entire daylight hours, but gives a lot of positive emotions and impressions.
  • "Blue" waterfalls. They were named so due to the layers of blue clay that come to the surface and give the water a special hue. You will need to take a bus to the village of Indyuk, and from there it will take about 1.5 hours to walk to the waterfalls.

You can go on a tour to the waterfalls or go on your own. It’s easy to get to nearby stations and villages (from the train station by train or regular bus), so we advise you to give preference to an independent hike. It will turn out much more interesting - you can look at everything carefully, stop at any time, take a photo, shoot a video, take a break and relax in a beautiful shady forest.

Perun Waterfall

One of the most impressive waterfalls in the Krasnodar region is Perun, which is 33 meters long. It originates from the Kazenny stream, which is part of the Tuapse River basin. This entire territory is a protected area and is included in the register of protected natural monuments, in which Perun is recorded under the name “Waterfall near the village. Red." But the locals are accustomed to calling it Perun for the roar of boiling water, reminiscent of thunder.

There are few tourists here, since the waterfall is located in a place difficult to reach for people. The only transport bridge leading to it has long since dilapidated and collapsed, so you can only get to Perun on foot. It is best to come to the waterfall in the spring; at this time it is fullest, while in winter the water freezes and dries up in summer.

Beach holiday in Tuapse

Tuapse has well-maintained beaches. Almost all are free. The beach infrastructure is well developed. There are rental points for water transport and diving equipment. You can also rent sun loungers, deck chairs, and umbrellas. Most beaches have small pebbles, the sea is deep, but the slopes are gentle and the bottom is flat. There are areas for children. There are no rocks, so it is safe to swim. Medical centers and rescue services are available. The most popular beach in the resort is considered to be “Central”, which has some features compared to others.

  • The strip is long and wide, its length is 1200 meters.
  • Sand and small pebbles predominate.
  • The descent into the water is smooth, comfortable, without sudden changes in depth.
  • The beach has everything you need for a comfortable holiday.
  • For the convenience of vacationers, bathrooms, showers, and rental stations have been installed here.
  • Within walking distance there is an amusement park, plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants where you can have a delicious lunch, and a market.

Primorsky Beach is also popular among local residents and guests of the city. The beach area is covered with pebbles and stretches for 225 meters. It is quiet and cozy here, there is no noise typical of large beaches. The water in the sea is clean, there are trees that provide shade. Vacationers will be offered to ride on catamarans, chutes, rent beach equipment, and equipment for water sports.

In the village of Novomikhailovsky, which is located a few kilometers from Tuapse, there is the Orlenka beach. The beach line is covered with pure quartz sand. Width – 40 meters. The shallow and flat bottom without stones is attractive, there are no holes or sharp changes, so it is safe for both children and adults to swim. Near the shore the depth is shallow, so the water warms up quickly. Those who love depth and diving can visit the beach in Olginskaya Bay. There are also large-pebble beaches and even nudist beaches.

Megalithic complex "Psynako"

Not far from the Pshenakho River, just 10 km from the city, there is a mysterious megalithic complex created around the 3rd century BC. It got its name from it: translated from the language of local peoples, “psynako” means “valley of springs.” The monument consists of boulders of different sizes and shapes, being essentially a dolmen - a pagan structure made of large stones.

The monument of ancient culture was discovered in 1972, the main research was carried out in 1985, but scientists still cannot figure out the purpose of its construction. Dolmens are usually tombs, but no human remains were found at Psynako. In the pits, reminiscent of graves, not bones, but stones were found.

Today scientists have two versions of the appearance of the complex. The first theory suggests that ancient people needed dolmens to carry out astronomical observations. The second version implies use for religious purposes: perhaps “Psynako” is a temple in which the Sun was worshiped.

Snake Gorge

If you don’t want to spend your entire vacation lying on a well-maintained beach, but, on the contrary, like an informal holiday, then go to Snake Gorge. Here, every year, starting in May, a spontaneous tent camp appears, where informals and creative individuals who love this type of recreation gather. There is also a nudist beach nearby, but this is for very big exotic lovers, so it is not recommended to go there with children.

It is recommended for all visitors to Tuapse to explore the Snake Gorge. It is located on picturesque green hills, and in itself is incredibly beautiful. The sea here is very clean, so it is pleasant to swim in it. There are also wild raccoons constantly running around here, which are very friendly towards people and enjoy with great pleasure the delicacies that tourists leave for them. It is located near the village of Dzhubga. Despite its name, there are absolutely no snakes in this gorge, so there is no need to be afraid of reptiles here.

Guam Gorge

One of the most beautiful places in Kuban is called the Guam Gorge. It is a rare combination of landscapes, clean mountain air, forests of relict boxwoods and yews. Travelers come here for the sheer cliffs, waterfalls 60-80 meters high, thermal springs and even steep river cliffs.

For tourists, there are several popular recreation centers that welcome guests all year round. At a distance of 7 km from the Guam Gorge there is a tourist complex “Aquarius”, where you can swim in a pool with warm spring water.

Climatic features

Clean sea air and a favorable climate have a positive effect on the health of vacationers. The resort town is located in the middle part of the Black Sea region, where two climatic zones intersect. The ridge of the Caucasus Mountains provides reliable protection from cold air masses.

The climate of Tuapse combines Mediterranean and subtropical features. This region is characterized by a diverse flora and rich fauna. The city has many parks and gardens in which both familiar and exotic trees and shrubs grow, filling the air with useful substances. About 1000-1300 mm of precipitation falls annually. Most - in November-March. May, June, July and August are relatively dry months, but there are occasional periods of heavy rainfall.
