Goryachy Klyuch is a resort town in the Krasnodar region, one of the first hydropathic hospitals in the Caucasus.
Until the 1860s, on the site of the modern city there was an Adyghe settlement of Psyfab, whose population was deported due to the construction of the resort. The village of Goryachiy Klyuch was founded in 1868, and received city status only in 1965.
Its name comes from underground springs of mineral water, the temperature of which is more than 60 C°. The population of the city is 37,500 people.
Goryachy Klyuch on the map of Russia: geography, nature and climate

The city is located in a zone of deciduous forests, which cover 70% of the territory.
The climate is subtropical, with mild winters and hot summers. Average temperature values in January are +1.7 C°, and in July – +23.1 C°. Daytime temperatures in winter rarely drop below zero degrees, and there is no permanent snow cover. Summer is characterized by a large number of hot days with temperatures above 30-35 degrees. There is 895 mm of precipitation per year.
Caves, rocks and mountains in the surrounding area
In addition to waterfalls, surrounded by the main non-marine resort city in the Krasnodar Territory, there are other natural attractions - mountains, rocks, grottoes and caves, which are also worth a trip to broaden your horizons and admire the magnificent creations of Mother Nature.
Rock "Mirror"
The name of the rock is directly related to its distinctive feature - it has an absolutely smooth surface. Because of its inaccessibility, it has become a favorite training place for rock climbers and mountaineers. Not every athlete can overcome a hill that does not have protrusions.
Most tourists and travelers spend time enjoying the beauty of nature at the foot of the cliff, and for extreme sports enthusiasts, instructions are provided and professional climbers work. They provide a safe ascent for tourists to the top of the wayward rock “Mirror”.
Mount Lantern
The height of this hill is 280 m. Scientists suggest that it got its name from the village. Phanagorian. At the top of the mountain there is a monument to soldiers who died during World War II. There are routes popular with tourists here.
The slopes of Mount Lantern are covered with lush vegetation. Many representatives of the flora are unique natural specimens. The rich history of the hill, coupled with the fascinating stories of the guides, makes a walk through these places bright and memorable.
Bogatyrsky caves
One of the most visited places in Goryachy Klyuch. The main feature of this tourist site is its man-made origin. No one can say who needed this structure and why. There are legends among the people that soldiers who defended the Krasnodar region from enemies lived here - hence the name of the attraction.
The Bogatyrsky caves proved their suitability for protection from enemy attacks during the Great Patriotic War. Now at their top there is a monument dedicated to the defenders of the Fatherland who died in battles against the fascist invaders. Citizens, travelers, and tourists vacationing in Goryachy Klyuch often come here.
Great Phanagorian Stalactite Cave
The underground attraction is located 12 km from the village of the same name. There is a small hole on the mountainside. Its height is about 1.5 meters. This is the entrance to a stalactite cave. It is the largest in the Krasnodar region. By the way, nearby there is also the Small Phanagorian Cave, which you can also visit.
Having walked a little deeper into the Great Cave, tourists will be able to stand at their full height. Inside the natural formation, 300 m from the entrance, there is an elevation, popularly called a “climb”. You can go further only by overcoming the obstacle.
It is better to take a tour underground by taking a flashlight with you. Although there have been no stalactites in the Great Phanagorian Cave for a long time (they were stolen by “curious” tourists), excursions to the “underground kingdom” are popular among travelers. In the light of lanterns, photographs of this natural monument will be especially impressive.

Rope town "Orange Park"
Of course, with children, especially of school age, the first thing to do is go to the rope park, where excellent conditions have been created for the development of the vestibular apparatus and balance training. The establishment is located in the surrounding area, near the village of Bezymyanoye.
On the territory of Orange Park there are several types of trolley routes, which can be overcome by visitors of all ages. They are located at a height of 1 to 12 meters. In addition to rope courses, they also offer other entertainment - rafting, a trampoline center, team building, paintball and interesting quests.
Suspension bridge over Psekups
The river crossing hanging in the air is nothing more than a symbol of movement towards a better life. The bridge leads to the central city park, where the Drinking Gallery is located. Healing springs flow here, bringing people cures from many diseases. From the Bridge of Hope, or the Happy Bridge (these are two more names of the structure), beautiful landscape views of the river open up. Recently, guests of Goryachiy Klyuch have developed a tradition - they tie ribbons on the railings of the passage through Psekups, intending to return to these amazing lands of the Krasnodar Territory once again.

Goryacheklyuchevsky monuments
There are not many man-made monuments in the city. But the existing memorials, each in their own way, reflect the history of the place, which grew from a small military hospital into a resort of all-Russian significance.
Monument to mineral water
In 1914, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the city, the world’s only monument to “living” water was erected on Mineralnaya Polyana in the Healing Park. The obelisk is located near the Iveron Chapel.
At the top of the first obelisk there was a double-headed eagle - a symbol of the Russian Empire. On 4 sides of the memorial column there were plaques with the names of the Cossack units that participated in the battles of the Caucasian War. Other sources say that the names of the founders of Goryachiy Klyuch were inscribed there.
Over time, the patriotic attributes disappeared, and the monument became a kind of gift of respect to the Psekup mineral water springs. They helped restore the health of a huge number of people who came here for treatment.
Avenue of a Thousand Pines
This is a man-made natural landmark of Goryachy Klyuch. The alley appeared in the city in 1958 - thanks to the Komsomol members of those years. It was they who planted seedlings of Pitsunda and Koch pine.
The alley is located in the city center and leads to springs with mineral water. Even before its appearance here, in 1930, a memorial obelisk was erected dedicated to the soldiers who defended these places from the White Guards during the Civil War.
After World War II, the monument was reconstructed, and the creative tandem, consisting of sculptor I. Shmagun and architect A. Titov, created a memorial complex here. Now next to the monument there are figures of WWII soldiers.
In 1967, one of the main symbols of the immortality of military glory - the Eternal Flame - appeared in the memorial. Nowadays, the Avenue of a Thousand Pines is not only one of the favorite places for recreation and walking among city residents, but also an object of worship for the heroes of past years.
Adyghe pillar
This memorial pillar is probably the oldest monument on the territory of Goryachy Klyuch. At the very beginning of the 19th century, from the fragments of a column that was once part of a Byzantine architectural structure, a tombstone was made over the tomb of a Bzhedukh nobleman.
Inscriptions in the ancient language are carved on the surface of the pillar. Later this memorial stone was used as a memorial sign. He was assigned to a Cossack who was captured by the Circassians and taught reading and writing to local children.
Monument to Arshaluys Kivoorkovna Khanzhiyan
The Podnavisla farm is located 3 tens of kilometers from Goryachiy Klyuch. The most ordinary girl, Arshaluys Khanzhiyan, lived here. The war has come. A hospital was located in these places, where she began to help the wounded.
She had a chance to see more than one thousand deaths. Many defenders of the Fatherland are buried in these places. The girl swore to herself that she would not leave her native land, she would look after the graves of the soldiers of the past war, protecting their peace.
Arshaluys kept her promise. She lived in the forest for more than half a century, paying tribute to the soldiers who saved the world from fascism. In 1997, this selfless woman became “Woman of the Year”, winning the All-Russian competition in the “Life-Destiny” nomination. In 1998, she was awarded the title “Honorary Citizen of Goryachiy Klyuch.”
Not far from the memorial, at the intersection of Shkolnaya and Lenin streets, in 2015, a memorial was erected to this woman, who was faithful to her oath all her life.
Monument to V.I. Lenin
During the period when the monument was erected (1938), there was probably not a single city or large village where there would not have been a monument or bust dedicated to the leader of the October Revolution of 1917. The monument to Lenin was erected in Goryachiy Klyuch on the street bearing it Name. During the war it was partially destroyed. In the post-war years it was restored, it again became one of the city’s landmarks, which came to us from the Soviet past.
Monument to Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin
The bust of the great Russian poet is placed on a marble pedestal. It was installed in 2000 in front of the museum entrance. The author of the monument is sculptor A. Zhdanov. In the bust of Pushkin itself there are few differences from other monuments to the poet - but this is part of the history of Goryachiy Klyuch.
