Economics[ | ]
The city is home to an oil and gas production enterprise with an oil refinery of JSC RN-Nyaganneftegaz, Nyagangazpererabotka, Krasnoleninskneftegazgeologiya, Nyagan power plant, a quartz plant, and a municipal timber processing enterprise.
The growth in industrial production volumes in 2007 amounted to 101.5%. In 2007, the volume of investments in fixed assets amounted to more than 12 billion rubles, or 90.4% in comparable prices compared to the level of 2006.
Due to the increase in energy consumption (from 2.5 billion kWh in 2007 to 5 billion kWh in 2010), the first stage of the Nyagan State District Power Plant was planned and built in the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug. More than 60 billion rubles were invested in the construction of the first three power units (420 MW each) of the Nyaganskaya State District Power Plant, which was carried out by Fortum OJSC. The Nyagan State District Power Plant also provided the basis for the economic development of the territories of the Subpolar and Polar Urals.
The general contractor is the engineering company. The station was built on the territory of the Uray-Nyagan region. The first power unit with a capacity of 420.9 MW was put into commercial operation on April 1, 2013, the second with a capacity of 424 MW on December 1 of the same year.
The grand opening of the Nyaganskaya GRES took place on September 24, 2013, and was attended by the presidents of Russia Vladimir Putin and Finland Sauli Niinistö[24].
OJSC "Polar Quartz" in Nyagan is the first enterprise based on deposits of the Subpolar Urals. Construction of the plant began in 2003, and the first stage of production was launched in 2012. The plant produces highly purified quartz concentrate, which is used in fiber optics, military industry, electronics, and computer technology. The planned production capacity is 10 thousand tons per year. The predicted resources for the quartz deposit are 1 million tons. Raw materials are used from the deposits of the Berezovsky district of Yugra.
In 2003, Russia's first production of laminated veneer lumber with a capacity of 38 thousand m³ per year was opened in Nyagan. The planned annual sales volume is up to 1 billion rubles. (the sole shareholder of the Yugra Timber Industry Holding, the main owner of which is the government of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug) was built as part of the implementation of the regional program for the development and restructuring of the timber industry complex, designed until 2010, and is equipped with modern Finnish equipment. It was originally planned that the plant would reach its stated capacity by 2004. However, despite the high pent-up demand for high-quality building materials in the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug, production capacity was only half loaded. Production volumes of veneered timber in 2007 reached 21.6 thousand m³, an increase compared to 2006 of 8%.
