Ussuriysk Sights photos with descriptions, where on the map, where to go

The Russian Far East is colorful and unique. An amazing land of endless forests, volcanoes and geysers attracts tourists eager to see amazing natural wonders and come into contact with almost pristine nature. The region is unevenly populated. Life here is in full swing only around a few policies. These include Ussuriysk, which grew out of the village of Nikolskoye, founded in 1866. Interestingly, a thousand years earlier, on the lands now occupied by the second largest settlement in the Primorsky Territory, Suibin, the capital of a vast province of the Chinese Empire during the Jin Dynasty, flourished. The settlement of immigrants from the Voronezh and Astrakhan provinces soon became an important trade and logistics center of Primorye, receiving city status just three decades after its founding. The progressive development of Ussuriysk continued during the Soviet era. Then large industrial enterprises, numerous educational, cultural and educational institutions appeared here. With the beginning of the new century, the enormous tourism potential of the Far East began to unfold. As a result, the number of vacationers wanting to admire the sights of Ussuriysk increases every year. The reader will find photos and descriptions of the most interesting places in the policy in the article.

Where is

Ussuriysk, whose sights are not so easy to see for most Russians, is located near the northeastern border of China and North Korea, in the basin of the Prikhankai Plain between low hills, on the Rakovka River, along the Komarovka riverbed and on the left bank of the Razdolnaya.

The city covers an area of 173 square meters. km, and together with the territory of the district almost 3.7 thousand square meters. km. The population density exceeds 1 thousand people per square meter. km. More than 198 thousand people live here, most of whom are employed in the food industry.

The city is located 110 km from Vladivostok, so it is more convenient for travelers in the western part of the country to reach it using well-established air services. A direct flight from the capital takes a little over 9 hours, which is much more profitable than 5-6 days on a train.

  • Intercity communication between Vladivostok and Ussuriysk is represented by 75 routes that depart from 6-50 to 21-30 from the bus station. Travel time, depending on the chosen route, can range from 1.5 to 3.5 hours.
  • You can get there by taxi or with fellow travelers in a car in 1-1.5 hours. The minimum price for a trip is 180 rubles.

Local features

Ussuriysk, as already mentioned, is located very close to the state border with China. You can travel to China from here without a visa if you are a Russian citizen. More precisely, a visa will be issued upon arrival. A regular bus service has been organized between Ussuriysk and the nearest Chinese cities of Suifenhe and Mudanjiang. You can also go by train. All travel and transport companies in the city organize trips; there are tours for every taste. For those who are in a hurry, there is a plane from Vladivostok, but the difference in price is serious: an overland road will cost about a thousand rubles, an air flight - from 6 thousand.

Climate

The climate in these places is monsoon. Winters are usually cold and clear, summers are warm and humid. Maximum precipitation occurs in July and August. But autumn is warm, mostly with clear weather. The average temperature in September is +15. +17°C. Autumn is the best time to visit Ussuriysk.

Events and holidays

The beginning of September is City Day.

The end of September - Tiger Day is celebrated in Ussuriysk, as well as throughout the Primorsky Territory.

What to bring from Ussuriysk

The main souvenir is the legendary “Ussuri Balsam” - a strong alcoholic drink to which berries, orange peel and Far Eastern medicinal herbs are added. In Ussuriysk you will buy real balsam plus liqueurs and tinctures of various types produced by the same plant founded by the Pyankov merchants, including in souvenir format. There is a company store at the plant on Krasnoznamenaya Street.

Weather, best time to travel

The weather conditions of the city are greatly influenced by the Pacific monsoons and the Sea of Japan. The climate is characterized by rainy, warm summers and very frosty winters. Sometimes the temperature briefly drops below -40 °C. Spring is long, late and windy.

Frosts stop in mid-May. Clear, warm weather occurs during the weakening of the monsoons in early autumn. September is the most pleasant month, it is also called the Far Eastern summer. Frosts begin at the beginning of October. The air is characterized by high humidity, and prolonged downpours cause some discomfort, but in general the weather is quite favorable.

Features of the city

The natural conditions of the city, as well as the region itself, are very favorable. They are characterized by long springs, dry winters and warm summers. Due to this climate, the region can boast of growing not only fruits and vegetables familiar to Russian lands, but also soybeans, rice, tomatoes, radishes, grapes, apricots and many others.

The Primorsky Territory does not suffer from a lack of sun: in Russia, the region ranks first in terms of duration of sunshine and the flow of solar energy to the surface of the earth. All these characteristics can be applied to Ussuriysk.

The city stands at the intersection of two rivers: Rakovka and Komarovka. Its first founders were peasant families who moved mainly from the Voronezh and Astrakhan territories.

After settling the territories, the Ussuri people suffered losses from the attack of the Chinese, who were mining gold there. However, despite all the difficulties, the village quickly recovered. Already in the 1880s, the first school was opened here and a church was built.

After this, the village began to grow rapidly. New residential buildings and roads were built faster and faster. One of them became key in the formation of the city: it was the route from Ussuriysk to Vladivostok. After its opening, the village quickly turned into a large military center, where a large number of military personnel gathered and barracks were built. Then the question of renaming the village into a city began to be raised: the population had increased, a huge number of people could no longer live in one quarter and the creation of new ones was required.

Now the number of residents fluctuates around 170 thousand. Today, Ussuriysk suffers only from natural decline: every year the population decreases by 6 people.

There are 30 preschool educational institutions in the city and, according to 2011 data, 60% of the total population from 3 to 7 years old attends such institutions. In the village there are several institutions of higher education, such as the Primorsky Institute of Railway Transport, a medical college, and the Agricultural Academy. In general, according to statistics, more than half of the city are able-bodied people aged 18 to 55 years.

Religious buildings

Ussuriysk, whose attractions are very popular among Chinese tourists, boasts beautiful original temples and new churches.

Church of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary

The ancient Church of the Intercession is located on Chicherina Street 80A. It was built in the eclectic style at the beginning of the last century on the site of the city's first wooden church. During the years of Soviet power it was closed, but in the post-war years it was returned to believers. Japanese prisoners of war took part in the restoration of the building.

Of the surviving shrines, pilgrims especially highlight:

  • the myrrh-streaming face of the Kazan Mother of God;
  • an icon from the destroyed St. Nicholas Cathedral;
  • Ussuri icon of the Embrace of the Father;
  • Pochaevsky image of the Mother of God.

The church is active and regular services are held there. Anyone can visit the centuries-old temple any day of the week from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker

St. Nicholas Church is located on Komarova Street 58. This is the youngest church in the city and was built with the help of philanthropists 10 years ago. Here you can venerate the Athonite Virgin Mary image of Panagia Sumela. You can explore the white-stone active cathedral daily from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Church of Seraphim of Sarov

A new church was erected on Slobodskaya Street 7A at the beginning of this century on the site of a destroyed outdated cathedral, from which some church objects and icons were preserved. Particularly impressive is the ancient icon of the patron saint of the temple, consecrated at the beginning of the last century on his relics immediately after the glorification.

You can also venerate the Trinity Icon of the 17th century and the ancient image of Theodosius of Pechersk.

The highlight of the structure was the unusual double bell tower with 4 bells. The church is active. Regular services are held here, which anyone can attend on any day of the week from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Sights of Ussuriysk: turtle

In the 1860s, two such stone sculptures were discovered in the village of Nikolskoye, as the city was then called. The first of them was sent to Khabarovsk, and the second was seen and described by the famous traveler and explorer of the Far East N. Przhevalsky. Today the address of this most important landmark of Ussuriysk is: DORA Park, st. Volodarsky. According to scientists, the statue dates back to the 12th century AD and is one of the few objects in the Jurchen city of Suiping that has survived to this day.

The most interesting museums

Ussuriysk, whose sights may interest history buffs, was founded on the ruins of a medieval fortress belonging to the Jurchen Empire. Here, archaeologists have discovered many interesting artifacts.

Local Lore Museum of Ussuriysk

An interesting museum exhibition is housed in a beautiful old building of a former parish school on Krasnoznamennaya Street 80. Visitors can get acquainted with the era of the Bohai state, the history of the city, the main crafts, culture and life of the local population.

The museum can be visited any day of the week, except Monday, from 10 to 17 hours, lunch break from 12-30 to 13 hours. The entrance ticket for adults is 100 rubles, for a child under 10 years old – 50 rubles.

Museum of Nature

An amazing exhibition dedicated to the nature of the region is located on Chicherina Street 44. Here you can learn a lot of interesting things about the population of the Ussuri tiger, the history of the creation of reserves in the district, protected animals and plants.

It makes sense to combine a visit to the museum in the village of Kaymanovka with a tour of the reserve. The cost of the educational program is 200-400 rubles.

beauty of nature

There is a lot to see in Ussuriysk. The panorama is simply mesmerizing . The city is filled with a large number of reservoirs and green areas, parks, among which the most famous are:

  1. DORA Park (Park of the House of Officers of the Russian Army), where the Jurchen stone turtle is located - a 13th century statue that previously served as a tombstone, despite the rather pretty expression of its lifeless face.
  2. Emerald Valley Park, Lotus Lake.

All these places are visited by an increasing number of people every year, relaxing here and happily spending their day off, walking through the beautiful area.

When thinking about where to go in Ussuriysk, you should know that one of the favorite places for walking among local residents is Soldatskoe Lake. Here you can especially clearly see the unusually beautiful nature of this region, relax your soul and body.

Due to the large number of springs located on the territory of the lake, it is cleaned several times during the summer season, as a result of which in warm weather you can safely enjoy swimming in clean water. In winter, the lake freezes, turning into a huge outdoor ice skating rink.

Monuments and Monuments

A stone turtle from the 12th century is installed in the city park of Dora. Such monumental sculptures were installed on the imperial graves or burial mounds of the commanders of the Jurchen ancient state. Tourists love to take pictures with her. The long-lived turtle is a symbol of wisdom and wealth.

The weight of the stone monument exceeds 6 tons, and the surface of the sculpture is decorated with the finest patterned carvings. The monument to the steam locomotive on Blucher Street 20 is installed on a pedestal in the park, not far from the station and the cultural center. A modern sculptural composition dedicated to the work of plumbers was installed next to the water utility on Karbysheva Street 27.

Stone turtle

Without a doubt, the most famous landmark of Ussuriysk is a stone sculpture in the form of a sea turtle, dating back to the 12th century. Soviet scientist Vitaly Larichev found out that this sculpture once adorned the tomb of the Jurchen commander Esykuy, who died in 1148. In medieval China, the turtle was a symbol of longevity and meant that a person belonged to a noble family. The monument is located in the central park of Ussuriysk.

Architectural structures

The red brick military hospital building in the Far Eastern pseudo-Gothic style dates back to the second half of the 19th century, located on Karbysheva Street, house 7. Today it is an architectural monument.

The former women's gymnasium, built in the pseudo-Russian style, is located on Chicherina Street 54. The vocational school of the beginning of the last century also belongs to this style, but with elements of new classicism. The building of the Siberian Trade Bank on Volodarskogo Street 33 is made in the North German Baroque style.

The fire tower at the beginning of the last century was the tallest building in the city. Located on Lenin Street 143. Many buildings from the Soviet period, built in the style of Stalinist monumentalism, have been preserved, a striking example of which is the officers' house on Volodarsky Street.

The house of the Soviet writer, researcher and traveler Vladimir Arsenyev is also an architectural monument today. You can see it on Krestyanskaya Street 73. The building of the former real school on Gorky Street 20 was built in the Art Nouveau style and is the highlight of the architecture of the pre-revolutionary period of the city.

Architecture and monuments of Ussuriysk

Already during a sightseeing tour of Ussuriysk, travelers are pleasantly surprised by the large number of colorful buildings and monuments on the streets of the city. Some of them are worth taking a closer look at.

Park DORA

  • Opening hours: daily, from 8:00 to 23:00 in summer, from 8:00 to 21:00 in winter.
  • Telephone.
  • Website: https://www.park-ussuriisk.ru
  • Address: st. Lenin. Transport stop "Gorteatr".

The main park of Ussuriysk, laid out near the House of Officers in the mid-60s of the last century, is a source of pride for the townspeople. The well-maintained recreation is considered an ideal place for a family vacation. The park has attractions, sports and playgrounds. In addition, here you can admire the symbol of Ussuriysk - the ancient stone turtle, and take a romantic walk along the Alley of Love. At the entrance to the park stands one of the main architectural attractions of Ussuriysk - an elegant colonnade. In December 2015, the Sapsan Zoo moved into the recreation area, housing former circus animals who have retired. They were evacuated here from Green Island Park, which was partially flooded by the passing powerful typhoon Goni.

Memorial to Ussuri Soldiers

  • Address: Victory Square. Transport stop "Market".

During the Second World War, residents of Ussuriysk, together with citizens of other cities of the Soviet Union, stood up to defend their Motherland. The 239th Infantry Division was formed here and began its combat journey near Tula . Its fighters entered into an unequal battle with the Nazis as soon as they left the train cars at Uglovaya station. Together with the tankers of the 32nd brigade, the Ussuri soldiers fought to the death, repelling the onslaught of mechanized Wehrmacht columns rushing towards Moscow . Many of the selfless defenders of the Fatherland fell in an unequal battle. 32 years after the Victory salute, a memorial complex to Ussuri soldiers who did not return from the battlefields of the Great Patriotic War was solemnly opened in the city. In front of the figured stele with bas-reliefs, the torch of the Eternal Flame burns - a tribute to the memory of the immortal feat of the heroes.

The building of the former real school

  • Address: st. Gorky, 20. Transport stop "Gorteatr".

The modern building of the real school was considered one of the architectural highlights of pre-revolutionary Ussuriysk. The mansion, built at the beginning of the second decade of the last century, attracted the eye with its elegant façade design, many protruding decorative elements, high arched windows, and a massive central portal built in a pompous imperial style. Unfortunately, during the Soviet era, the building, which was not properly maintained, began to fall into disrepair. The colorful building was saved only by timely restoration, which was completed several years ago.

Mansion of the branch of the Russian State Bank

  • Address: st. Kalinina, 35. Transport stop "Seven Winds".

It’s hard not to linger near the elegant mansion, a true gem of Kalinin Street. Before the revolution, the building with a pink facade, reminiscent of a miniature European castle, housed the Nikolsk-Ussuri branch of the main bank of the Russian Empire. The elegant building is luxuriously decorated. Above the central entrance to the mansion rises a tent, which once had a high spire. The cornice is decorated with delightful attics. Against the backdrop of the architectural sophistication created by Russian architects at the dawn of the 20th century, you can’t help but take a photo.

Fire Tower

  • Address: st. Lenina, 143. Transport stop "Children's Hospital".

The main disasters that caused serious damage to Ussuriysk at the turn of the 19th – 20th centuries were considered to be floods and fires. If it was almost impossible to fight the eternal satellites of typhoons, local firefighters very successfully fought back the fiery elements. The tower, erected in 1914, helped them to identify fires in a timely manner. Observers stationed on the observation deck of the highest building of the policy at that time raised the alarm in time, seeing the first signs of a fire, and the firemen and axemen promptly extinguished the fire. In addition, the tower looks very aesthetically pleasing and is rightfully included in the TOP of the main architectural attractions of Ussuriysk.

Natural attractions

The Baranovsky volcano, which is more than 2 million years old, has not been active for a long time. It not only adorns the picturesque natural landscape, but is also the location of the station and village of the same name. The Razdolnaya River flows through the crater of the volcano.

The Ussuri Nature Reserve was created with the aim of preserving rare flora and fauna in the first half of the last century on the southern slope of the Sikhote-Alin mountain range, along which the Komarovka and Artemovka river streams flow, forming small picturesque waterfalls. Huge cedars and fir trees grow here, and the trunks of giant hornbeams are entwined with vines.

The reserve is home to Amur tigers and East Siberian leopards, musk deer and white-breasted bear. A unique lake with blooming lotuses can be seen in August, when more than 500 buds of this rare flower open. The reservoir is located near the village of Dubovy.

Attractions

Ussuriysk City Theater

One of the famous architectural monuments in the city is the Ussuriysk City Theater, the former People's House named after the Pyankov brothers. It was built in 1909. The construction was supervised by A.A. Vinogradov. The author of the project, according to local historian O.B. Lynsha, was the Vladivostok architect Meshkov. The city theater settled in this building in 1958. Before that, it was located in a building on the street. Kalinina.

Military Commandant's Office building

Beautiful mansion on the street. Oktyabrskaya, 75, occupied today by the military commandant’s office, belonged to E.E. Maerovich.

Fizmat USPI (Building of the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics USPI)

The building of the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of the USPI (former women's gymnasium), according to the authors, was built in 1906. I assume that the indicated date of construction of “Illusion” by A.S. Nikitina (later Globus, Zarya cinema) - 1908 - is also incorrect, since in the reference books of 1909 and 1911. he is not included. And in local newspapers until 1911 there was no advertising of this “Illusion”.

Inaccuracies in the book “Monuments of history and culture of Primorsky Krai”

City Museum The book says that in the building on the street. Krasnoznamennaya, 80 (this is the address of the city museum) was the first public school. According to the authors, since 1896 it became a four-year city school. In fact, this building housed a parochial school (it’s sad if the authors don’t know the difference between a public city school and a parochial school).

Military registration and enlistment office and central grocery store

The version that the current building of the military registration and enlistment office and the central grocery store was occupied by the Military Presence and the South Ussuri Police Department is also incorrect. Building with a turret on the street. Kalinina, 52 (formerly Michurinskaya) belonged to the trading house Kunst and Albers.

house on the street Peasant, A.P. Chekhov

These are not all the errors found in the book “Monuments of History and Culture of the Primorsky Territory.” In this regard, I began to have doubts: did V.K. Arsenyev really write his book in the house on the street. Peasant? After all, no one has yet documented this fact. Maybe this is the same myth as A.P.’s visit to our city. Chekhov

Questionable fact of newspaper publication

In one of the newspaper publications, where an ignorant author named the Nikolsk Hotel I.S. Chulkova Kozlov's hotel, it was naively assumed that Chekhov stayed there while passing through. Fantasies. This couldn’t happen because the writer was “not on his way.” And he apparently didn’t want to make a detour in order to check in in our city. Don't believe me? Read A.P. Chekhov.

The above errors and many others were included in the “Lists of historical and cultural monuments of Ussuriysk” and from them are replicated not only in “historical” articles and books, but also in official documents. Unfortunately, when these lists were compiled, no one made sure that information about the monuments was recorded indicating the source of information. Then today there would be no need to puzzle over whether Titov was in fact the owner of the building of the current People's Court but st. Frunze, 95 or not. Because the indicated Mr. Titov does not appear at all in the lists of homeowners of Nikolsk-Ussuriysk before 1917. So guess: either the last name is written incorrectly, or it’s just someone’s invention.

Chinese cuisine. Photo: Veronika Murvatova, UssurMedia

No, you read everything correctly: city residents consider Chinese dishes and the places where they are prepared to be the most important attraction of Ussuriysk. According to the majority of respondents, if guests who came from afar did not try meat in sweet and sour sauce, pork on a roasting pan or squid in breadcrumbs, they could be said to have passed by Ussuriysk without ever knowing the philosophy of the local population. In Ussuriysk, you can find both budget cafes on the territory of the Chinese market and restaurants specializing in Pan-Asian cuisine.

Interesting places to relax with children

Ussuriysk, whose attractions are very diverse, will be interesting to visit for children of all ages. You will especially enjoy the trip to the Emerald Valley in the village of Utesnoye. The unusual landscape ethno park is divided into several thematic zones.

Here you can see wooden ancient Russian buildings: a watchtower of a fort, peasant huts with a bathhouse, a merchant estate, a prison, a forge with bellows and an anvil. All buildings are recreated with historical accuracy; you can go inside and examine the interior items.

Traditional craft workshops with tools are interestingly presented. There is a war zone and medieval weapons. Ritual ancient sanctuaries have been reconstructed.

The cost of the entrance ticket depends on the day of the week, for an adult it is 200-300 rubles, for a child – 100-150 rubles. The park is open every day from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The Panda family amusement park is located on Ermakova Street 28. It is open every day from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., on Mondays from 12 p.m. Here, adults and children can jump on sports trampolines, crawl on a climbing wall and climbing frames, swing in hammocks and swings, walk through labyrinths, go through rope courses with obstacles of varying difficulty levels.

The cost of an unlimited entrance ticket on weekdays is 1.2 thousand rubles, on weekends 1.5 thousand rubles. per person. Hourly pay from 200 to 900 rubles. depending on the chosen entertainment.

So what can you see in one day?

  1. Emerald Valley. Located a little further from the city. It is a recreation center with buildings similar to the 12-13th century, lakes, souvenir shops and particles from the beginning of human existence. There is a barbecue area, gazebos, and fishing. Usually people go to this place not for two or three hours, but for the whole day. But you can also pop in for a walk and take a photo or two.
  2. DORA Park. Located near the officers' house. Overall, an ordinary park in which to spend time pleasantly. One of the truly cool attractions is Ermak. The rest are either childish or uninteresting (in my opinion).

I repeat, Ussuriysk is not a resort city. It doesn’t have a bunch of excursions, five-star hotels and interesting attractions. But a person who knows how to relax can do this in Bali and in the village of Ivanovka.

The royal python deserves special mention. A representative of a diverse family of reptiles, apparently prone to travel, once crawled into a private house. Review

Ussuriysk is the second largest and most important city in Primorye. In terms of all-Russian popularity, it is much inferior to Vladivostok, but Ussuri patriots believe that their city has more rights to the title of capital of the region. First of all, because Ussuriysk is the main land transport hub of the region. All communications of Primorye and roads from the ports inland pass through it: the branch connecting the CER with the Trans-Siberian Railway, and highways to Vladivostok, Khabarovsk and the village of Pogranichnoye, that is, to China. When the grandiose Primorsky railway port is built - a system of terminals through which sea cargo from Asia will be transported by land to the European part of the mainland - Ussuriysk will compete with Vladivostok for the title of “sea gate of Russia”.

Neighborhood with China influences life in Ussuriysk just as much as in Blagoveshchensk: the nearest Chinese city can be reached in a few hours by bus or train. For locals, bordering Suifenhe is simply “Sunka”, where they regularly go for shopping. In Ussuriysk itself there is a huge Chinese clothing market, the largest in Primorye. You can buy everything there, even at night (they say that the night market is cheaper and more crowded), and at the same time gawk at everyone’s favorite signs “with a Chinese accent.” Another famous place is the Japanese car market under the informal name “Zhelezka”. It beats the same one in Vladivostok in terms of prices: in Ussuriysk they are lower.

Despite the economic activity, the city seems quiet, calm and quite comfortable. There are no skyscrapers here; the tallest building is still a Soviet nine-story building. Ussuriysk has a long history and several completely different lives. The date of his birth is considered to be 1866, when the village of Nikolskoye was founded here by settlers from central Russia. However, back in the 12th century, the city of Suiping, part of the Jurchen state, stood on this site, and even earlier this territory was owned by the medieval Far Eastern Bohai Empire. What remains from Suipin are the sites of two fortresses and the most famous historical monument of Ussuriysk - a stone turtle from the grave of one of the commanders, a symbol of longevity. The turtle was found at the end of the 19th century on the territory of the city park, where today it occupies a place of honor on a hill under a stylized canopy.

The parade of unusual Ussuri monuments continues with perhaps the most famous city monument - the El-629 steam locomotive, installed in the park on Blucher Avenue. This is an ominous monument: it is believed that in its firebox - or in the firebox of the same locomotive - the Japanese burned the legendary Sergei Lazo. True, experts dispute the authenticity of the locomotive or its copy.

The Chumak Park, where the ominous steam locomotive stands, the city park with the turtle (it is also called DORA Park, we don’t know why) and the Green Island Park are favorite vacation spots for Ussuri residents. There is a lot of greenery in the city, but if you want Far Eastern plant exoticism, go to the Lotus Lake in the village of Oak Key, within the city. In August it is covered with pink flowers. Or to the suburban reserve named after Komarov - a mysterious forest on the slopes of the Przhevalsky Mountains, where cedars, elms, black fir and ginseng grow, where Amur tigers live. Nearby is the Astrophysical Observatory, founded in the 1950s as the “Sun Service Station.”

The historical center of Ussuriysk is the “old town” in the area of Kalinin and Chicherin streets. Irkutsk “antiquity”, if you do not take into account the 12th century turtle, is the beginning of the 20th century, when the village of Nikolskoye, thanks to the Trans-Siberian Railway, grew to the city of Nikolsk-Ussuriysky. The most beautiful houses of Ussuriysk also belong to this era: the building of a real school built in 1906 (today it houses school No. 11), the building of a trade school (modern post office), the former shopping arcade “Kunst and Alberts”, in which the Boulevard cafe is now open ", People's House of 1907 - now the Ussuri Drama Theater. The last mansion was built by the Pyankov merchant brothers, very famous entrepreneurs and philanthropists in the Far East.

Ussuriysk owes one of its symbols to the elder Pyankov - Mikhail Pavlinovich came up with the “Ussuri Balsam” based on taiga herbs and berries. The Pyankov distillery regularly produces it to this day, already under the name. It’s easy to find products, brand stores and the factory building itself: the balm’s logo is another symbol of Ussuriysk - the Amur tiger. A tiger's face is painted on the label, a sculpture of a tiger stands in front of the entrance, and life-size puppets in tiger costumes advertise the plant.
