Reviews from tourists
- Kirill, Moscow
Having visited St. Petersburg, I thought that this city would not surprise me with anything, but I was very mistaken. Having already looked through the guidebook, I was inspired and came here. The city has very beautiful architecture, but I especially want to highlight the Rumyantsev-Paskovich Palace. Its interiors and exhibits, architecture and adjacent park area are all very impressive in their scope and majesty.
- Ekaterina, Minsk
I visited the city during a work trip for 1 day, overall I liked everything. Due to the fact that there was little time, I did not have time to see all the sights, but I really liked the fountains. I will definitely come back here to look at them in the evening.
- Elena, Mogilev
I came here with my husband and small child.
My husband and I were delighted with the architecture and museums, but the child, understandably, did not appreciate it. But after visiting the amusement park and even more so the circus, he was satisfied, since the performance in the circus was truly exciting. Gomel is rich in sights and interesting places, most of which can be explored in 1 day.
True, if you want to thoroughly explore this city, you should stay here for a couple of days.

After the acquisition of the palace and park ensemble by the family of General Paskevich, it was rebuilt into a greenhouse.
Currently, this establishment contains about 18 species of different plants, which are traditional representatives of the subtropical climate. The area of the winter garden is about 245 square meters. Moreover, the oldest among all representatives is one of the palm trees, dated 1888. In addition, here you can find a number of different interesting aquariums housing tropical fish. This is a great place to visit with children to find a lot of interesting and colorful things here and remember your trip to Gomel for a long time.

The only memorial in the world dedicated to child victims of the Great Patriotic War is located in the village of Krasny Bereg. In the 21st century, a memorial appeared of 1990 people Khatyn complex, Leonid Levin . At the entrance, visitors are greeted by a bronze figurine of a girl with crossed arms. Ray-alleys diverge from the Square of the Sun “Ray of Memory” – crosses an empty classroom, where there are only 21 white desks and a black board with a letter from prisoner Katya Susanina to her father. Against the background of stained glass windows with touching drawings, there is a symbol of unfulfilled childhood hopes - “Paper Boat”... The memorial in Krasny Bereg is surrounded by an ancient apple orchard , which involuntarily became another symbol of the bloody tragedy of the village. According to legend, the local botanist Nezvedsky planted Chinese apple trees here, which in the spring were covered with scarlet foam of flowers, and in the fall - with “droplets” of bright red apples.

Ride on a glowing swing
An unusual hi-tech square is located opposite one of the buildings of the Belarusian State University of Transport: it was once designed by Stanislav Shabunevsky, already familiar to you. There is no such park anywhere in Belarus. The idea to modernize it belongs to BelSUT students. The park has solar panels, glowing swings and benches with USB ports from which you can charge your phone (work in the warm season).
In the first months after the opening of the park, parents and children stood in line to ride on the glowing swings in the shape of polymer links and listen to the musical bench. Now you can catch the swing in all its glory from about 21.00-22.00.

Gatovsky's estate in the village of Krasny Bereg
The estate in the village of Krasny Bereg, reminiscent of a fairy-tale house, was erected in the second half of the 19th century for Lieutenant General Mikhail Gatovsky . The architecture organically combined elements of Gothic, Renaissance, Empire and Art Nouveau : hipped towers, bay windows, mansard roofs, dormers, enfilade arrangement of rooms. At the same time, the interiors of the chambers corresponded to a certain style - Romanesque, Arabic, Renaissance, French... The palace was famous for its rich collection of paintings, among which were originals by Ivan Aivazovsky, Gabriel Kondratenko, Henryk Semiradsky . The residence was surrounded by an English park and a garden with exotic plants .

Mozyr
Mozyr is one of the oldest cities in Belarus: 5 ancient settlements , the oldest of which is about 4 thousand years old . In the 15th century, in the center of Mozyr there was a castle , which was ravaged by the Tatars more than once, and in 1649 it was captured and burned by Prince Janusz Radziwill . In 2005, for the 850th anniversary of the city, the wooden “Mozyr Castle” was recreated on a historical site, which became a popular tourist attraction. The most iconic sights of the city are the Church of St. Michael the Archangel and the Bernardine Monastery of the 17th century, St. Michael's Cathedral, as well as the Brovar of 1885, the building of the men's gymnasium of the 19th century and the Church of St. Nicholas in the constructivist .

Embankment
The central embankment is one of the large-scale and long-lasting constructions of the city. It stretches along the banks of the Sozh River several kilometers long. Together with the Palace and Pack ensemble, it is boldly called the calling card of Gomel.
The embankment can be visually divided into several parts:
- Between the Kievsky and Biletsky descents. At the lower level, the surface is formed by large rectangular slabs. There is a cafe in this place.
- Bridge and Kyiv Descent. Many trees have grown in this area. Boats dock here. The monument dedicated to the first Gomel resident, in the form of a man with a lynx, is located right here.
- Central segment. A calm place with beautiful scenery and passing boats.
- Swan Pond. A stream flows near large trees - the Gomeyuka River flows out.
- Lighthouse. There are no plantings in this area.
See the warehouse of finished combines
Local residents suggested to us a specific observation deck - a pedestrian bridge from which the industrial landscape opens. Walking along it towards Fadeev Street (be careful: the bridge is literally dizzying), you can look at the finished combines from above. We were unlucky; there weren't many harvesters that day. And sometimes the whole street is lined with cars.
This pedestrian bridge is one of the longest in Belarus. Its length is a little more than half a kilometer. It is thrown across the technical railway station. The trains and carriages accumulated there, their rearrangements and unloadings look very picturesque.

Chechersk
The history of Chechersk goes back more than eight centuries. Since ancient times, the city has been famous for the production of glass and crystal, which was presented at the international exhibition in London in 1751. In 1774, Catherine II gave Chechersk to the famous commander Count Zakhar Chernyshev , and now a monument to the first governor-general of the region is erected in the central square. Among the outstanding sights of Chechersk is the Holy Transfiguration Church in the classicist style, reminiscent of a rotunda temple, as well as the town hall, the authorship of which is attributed to the famous architect Bartolomeo Francesco Rastrelli .
Chechersk Town Hall - a monument of the 18th century - is the most unusual of the ancient town halls of Belarus (in Nesvizh , Vitebsk , Shklov, Slonim ). Instead of one, it has five wooden towers, decorated to look like stone ones, and depending on the point of view, its design displays features of classicism, gothic and even oriental motifs. Today, the town hall houses a historical and ethnographic museum and a recreated theater from the 18th century .

Manor in the village of Korenevka
The “Hunting Lodge” in Korenevka is an architectural monument of the second half of the 19th century , built by order of Field Marshal Ivan Paskevich . The red and white brick building originally housed a distillery, which in the 1860s was rebuilt into a large manor house surrounded by a park with a picturesque artificial lake. At the country estate, the owners received guests, organizing hunts in the surrounding forests, which is how the house got its name. Today, the former estate of Count Paskevich houses the experimental forestry base of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The working fireplaces here have been perfectly preserved from the ancient interiors.

Where to eat

The bison is listed in the Red Book; a few can be found in the natural environment in Belarus and Poland - on the territory of Belovezhskaya Pushcha. The establishment resembles a store with tables, analogues of which are found in almost all tourist cities in Europe. Equipped with a bar, culinary department and pastry shop.
- The cafe at the Spartak brand store is located at a specialized confectionery factory. The establishment is famous for its large assortment of sweets.
Ferris tower
According to official data, this is a former chimney of a sugar factory built in the 19th century on the territory of the estate of I.F. Paskevich. Before him, the estate was owned by P.A. Rumyantsev-Zadunaisky, who planned to build a noble school here. But when the estate passed to the next owner, the school building was rebuilt into a sugar factory and this 40-meter pipe was erected. During the fire, the building burned down, and the chimney was converted into an observation tower.
This version leaves many questions: why was the pipe built 40 meters high? Why is it sticking straight out of the ground? Why is the pipe lined with colored brickwork? Why are there windows in it? It can be assumed that the upper observation deck was completed later, but it is noticeable that the windows in it were made at the time the pipe was erected, and not cut later. In addition, dungeons were found under the hill on which this mysterious tower rises.
Turov
Ancient Turov , the largest religious and spiritual center of Belarus along with Polotsk , has been mentioned in chronicles since 980. It was here that the second largest temple after Polotsk Sofia (unfortunately, it did not survive due to marshy soils), and in 1056-1057 one of the first monuments of East Slavic writing was created - the Turov Gospel . The famous “Belarusian Chrysostom”, preacher and theologian Kirill Turovsky, . A fortified settlement from the 10th-13th centuries with fragments of a temple and residential buildings, as well as an outstanding monument of wooden architecture, the Church of All Saints , cult stone crosses have been preserved to this day in Turov .
According to legend, stone crosses sailed - against the current - along the Dnieper and Pripyat from Kiev, where Prince Vladimir baptized Russia. Two of them (“father” and “mother”) are kept in the Church of All Saints , and the third is inside the monument to Cyril of Turov on Castle Hill.
