30 best sights of Tyumen that are worth visiting

Natural attractions

Tyumen is often associated with a gray oil city. This is partly true - although minerals are not mined here, they are processed. However, this does not prevent her from remaining quite green and civilized.

Tura River

Tyumen stands on the left and right banks of the Tura River, which carries its waters for a thousand kilometers. Along its entire length, its width ranges from 80 to 200 m. Sections of the river within the city are not full of water, but in spring and autumn after prolonged rains the level rises.

The river is rich in pike perch, bream, burbot, pike, perch, sterlet, and roach. On the shore in the city there are many fishermen with a fishing rod. Motor ships ply along Tura within Tyumen, on which you can take a boat trip. Ships depart from the pier near the “Lovers' Bridge”.

The cost of a ticket (for 1 hour) for adults is 400 rubles, for children – 300 rubles, and children under 3 years old go on deck for free.

Eco-park "Zatyumensky"

One of the main natural attractions of Tyumen is the eco-park. Previously, it was just a piece of wooded land on the outskirts of the city (with a bad reputation). And in 2007, the green zone received a new life. Among the thicket of pines, spruces, fir trees, bird cherry trees and other green spaces, bicycle paths, swings, and benches appeared.

After the territory was transformed, vacationers had the opportunity to play mini-football, basketball, and volleyball on special grounds. The forest park has also created children's playgrounds and a designated area for walking dogs. In winter, there is an ice skating rink, and ski trails are laid through the forest.

Gilevskaya Grove

Tyumen is a green city, and what makes it so, in particular, is the Gilevskaya Grove park. The ecological zone is located in the middle of a large residential area and has the status of a natural monument of local importance. The forest area covers an area of 89 hectares and is mainly planted with pine and birch trees.

After reconstruction, the grove now has paths for walking and cycling. The forest park has acquired the infrastructure necessary for a comfortable stay: lanterns, gazebos, benches, public restrooms.

In winter, there is a ski base in the grove, and in the warm season you can rent rollerblades, scooters, adult and children's bicycles.

Alexandrovsky Country Garden

The park was laid out in the 19th century on an area of 40,000 square meters. m with funding from the mayor of the city Ivan Ikonnikov. Over more than 100 years of its history, it was badly neglected, and its revival began only in 2007. As a result, only a tenth of it remained, where spruce, pine, linden and birch trees spread their fluffy branches.

The entrance to the park is decorated with an arch with 8 snow-white columns. The landscape design is complemented by statues of Tyumen residents of the 19th century: “Ladies on a Walk”, “Boy”, “Hussar”, “Resting Girl”. In bad weather, you can hide from the rain in the summer gazebo. There is an illuminated fountain in the center.

Tsvetnoy Boulevard

Over time, a stone temple in the style of classicism grew nearby on the banks of the Tura, which a little later acquired two chapels and a bell tower. It has one floor and a superstructure with arched windows and a tower topped with a dome and a gilded cross.

On the territory of the monastery there is an orphanage and an almshouse where lonely elderly and infirm women live. There is also a sewing workshop, where nuns work, and a parish library. The outbuildings are complemented by a small vegetable garden and orchard.

All Saints Church

The temple will surprise tourists with its unusual shape, which is not typical for religious buildings in Russia. The building was built in 1833, when the wooden structure fell into disrepair. The upper level of the Tyumen embankment is decorated with a fountain with cascades through which water loudly falls into a granite bowl. A bas-relief panel was created on the wall with views of the city at different historical stages.

The Lovers' Bridge in Tyumen is intended exclusively for pedestrians. In the evenings, the structure is illuminated and lights play in the water, creating a romantic atmosphere. Along its entire length, the boulevard is divided into five independent squares:

  • Fontannaya;

The boulevard has many attractions for adults (Argo, Shrek, Cyclone) and for children, including children: trains, trampolines, etc. The focus of vacationers is the 52 m high Ferris wheel, which offers a beautiful view of the square.

With the arrival of cold weather, a skating rink is opened on Tsvetnoy, where you can come with your own skates or those rented from a rental point on the territory of the former garden.

Circus

The starting point in the history of the Tyumen circus is 1839, when gymnasts first began performing on the streets of the city. Later they moved to tents and only 50 years later the artists were able to work indoors.

In 2002, at the intersection of Tsvetnoy Boulevard and Pervomaiskaya Street, a new polygonal building with a glass facade was built, which can accommodate 1,600 spectators.

On the roof of the building there is a large metal ball that is illuminated at night. In front of him, on a low pedestal, are figures of famous Soviet clowns: Karandash, Oleg Popov and Yuri Nikulin.

The permanent circus troupe includes aerialists, acrobats, animal trainers, clowns, jugglers, magicians, and dancers. All performances are accompanied by the orchestra of the Tyumen military team.

Lovers' Bridge

The cable-stayed pedestrian bridge across the Tura, located in the Central District of Tyumen, is considered a romantic place. The name appeared immediately after the competition in 2003. When it starts to get dark, the lights turn on - the bridge becomes a place for walks and dates for citizens.

Lovers' Bridge

Alexander Garden

The park was founded in 1851 by the merchant Ikonnikov. The place got its name in honor of Tsarevich Alexander, who visited the city in 1837. He planted one of the first trees here, which gave rise to the development of the park. During the Patriotic Wars, the garden was abandoned, but after 1948 it began to be restored.

One of the most beautiful places in Tyumen is the Alexander Garden

Early 2000s the park was reopened, and after 7 years the territory began to be restored. Currently this is one of the most picturesque places in Tyumen. In summer, at the entrance, guests are greeted by compositions of flowers and figures of swans. On the main alley of the park there are figures of 2 ladies who are leisurely strolling near the fountain.

The park is also famous for the sculpture of a young hussar, dreamily looking into the distance, and a boy sitting not far from the hussar. Another garden sculpture is represented in the form of a girl in a hat and pigtails, who sits on a bench. Local residents nicknamed her Mashenka.

Also in the park there are figures of a stork and a peacock made of metal. In the garden along the alleys there are many benches where residents and guests of the city can take a break from the bustle of the city and enjoy the variety of flowers and interesting architectural structures. The park is located on the street. Malozagogorodnaya, 6-A.

Let's sum it up

Tyumen cannot boast of ancient sights. If necessary, you can see them in Suzdal and other cities that are part of the Golden Ring of Russia.

Fans of Islamic themes will certainly be interested in the sights of Ufa. There is an outright eclecticism in this city. Unlike Tyumen, in the capital of Bashkiria, high hills make the landscape more multi-layered and unusual.
