Khanty-Mansiysk

Description Photos Weather Map Flights Hotels

Nizhnevartovsk city sculpture

In addition to the plague towers, the cities of Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug have one more common feature - they are literally dotted with unusual figures that amuse passers-by and surprise tourists with their humor and originality. Nizhnevartovsk is no exception. Dear travelers, get your cameras ready!

"Turnikman" or "Pulling Official"

  • Address: Khanty-Mansiyskaya st., 41B.

In the summer of 2013, the city hosted a festival of arts, labor and sports. As part of this event, a sculpture was unveiled depicting a respectable man in a smart suit, with a diplomat and a tie. But he doesn’t stand on the sidelines with the important air characteristic of bosses, but does pull-ups on the horizontal bar.

The author of the composition was the famous artist Alexander Ryabov. He claims that “Turnikman” does not personify any specific mayor, it is a collective image. And his main goal is to inspire people to play sports.

"Skateboarder"

  • Address: Neftchinikov Square.

A girl cast in bronze with a skateboard “sits” on a bench on Neftchinikov Square, as if resting after a long ride on the board. The charming composition was created in order to attract the attention of Nizhnevartovsk teenagers to an active lifestyle. The sculpture appeared in 2010 and quickly became one of the most recognizable decorations of the city.

"Musician" and "Artist"

  • Address: Lenin street.

Bronze sculptures of talented creators decorate the square near the Palace of Arts. The first sculpture depicts the artist at work. He sits on a chair in front of the canvas and looks into the distance - noticing the details of the landscape that he is about to display in paint. And in the second figure one can recognize the image of a young violinist.

A handsome young man with curly hair gently touches the violin strings with his bow, awakening a charming melody. The sculptures were made by famous artists Dmitry Postnikov and Alexander Suvorov. In their works they expressed an inexhaustible love for art.

Castle on the embankment

  • Address: Naberezhnaya street.

In 2010, the embankment of Nizhnevartovsk was decorated with an original sculpture - a huge castle in the shape of a heart, on the sides of which there are trees.

The composition is not only decorative, but also practical. Everyone knows the tradition among loving couples of attaching locks to the fence and throwing the key into the river. This symbolizes the strength and longevity of the relationship. However, romance has a downside: a large number of locks puts pressure on the fence and spoils it.

The sculpture was installed specifically for the “locks of love”. Now Vartov residents can observe the romantic tradition and not harm the architecture of the embankment.

"Dog"

  • Address: Neftchinikov Square.

The figure of a homeless mongrel is located on Neftchinikov Square. She appeared here in 2012 on the initiative of a local animal protection organization. But this is not a simple statue, but a sculpture-piggy bank. Every caring person can drop a couple of coins into it, which will later be used to provide shelters for stray cats and dogs.

Nature of Nizhnevartovsk and surrounding areas

In Nizhnevartovsk and its surroundings there are several places where it will be pleasant to walk and enjoy the natural beauty and fresh air.

Embankment of the Ob River

  • Address: Naberezhnaya street.

The embankment deservedly bears the title of the most beautiful place in the city. It received this rating thanks to its stunning view of the Ob River, original sculptural compositions and unusual design of recreation areas. The benches located under the lanterns attract special attention.

Tall lamps are made in the form of little men who hold umbrellas in their hands, sheltering people from the rain or sun. Lawns and flower beds are laid out throughout the territory, and in the future there will be a whole alley of cast iron trees. The embankment is a great place for walks and photo sessions.

Lake "Komsomolskoe"

  • Coordinates on the map: 60.950251, 76.577183.

The lake is located in the middle of the city. During the Soviet years, the reservoir was in a neglected state: the water was heavily polluted, there were no fish in it, and even birds did not land on the banks. However, in 2011, work was carried out to purify the water, and the “dead” lake came to life. Today, the banks of the reservoir are landscaped for the recreation of citizens. There are areas for making fires and sports fields.
