Odintsovo: a modern Ecopolis for permanent residence Odintsovo, located near Moscow, is considered one of the best cities for living. People from all over Russia strive to come here in pursuit of good prospects and a high standard of living. But there are also disadvantages to Odintsovo. It is necessary to take into account all the nuances before considering the issue of relocation. Let's take a look at the city from the inside.
Ecology and climate
Odintsovo: Ecology and climate
It is generally accepted that the climate in Odintsovo is similar to Moscow. Average temperatures in winter are 10, in summer +18. But in fact, the city has high humidity. Because of this, the frost is a couple of degrees stronger, but it feels like -20. And in the warm season there are many unbearably hot and stuffy days. Windy weather also prevails in the Odintsovo area.
This city near Moscow places special demands on the environment. We have developed our own ecosystem, which has made Odintsovo one of the cleanest and safest in this area. And this despite the fact that there are many industrial enterprises located here in different parts of the city and even almost in the city center.
Temples, churches and cathedrals of Odintsovo and surrounding areas
Orthodox churches in the Odintsovo district are a delight for the esthete’s eyes. Ancient churches were built in different architectural styles, each building has its own characteristics.
Cathedral of St. Vmch. St. George the Victorious
- Address: Mozhaiskoe highway, 57.
The magnificent St. George's Cathedral is one of the largest and most majestic churches in Odintsovo. The three-story building was erected in 2007. Five gilded domes shine above the bright red and white walls, and a bell tower is built above the main entrance, which reaches 72 meters in height.
All tiers of the church were built in different styles; at the top, stained glass windows with images of saints were inserted into the window openings. Among the shrines of the temple is a particle of the relics of St. St. George the Victorious.
Temple of the Grebnevskaya Icon of the Mother of God
- Address: s. Grebnevo.
The church in the village of Grebnevo has existed since 1673. Initially, it was an ordinary wooden building, which fell into disrepair over the years. At the beginning of the 19th century, Countess Zubova donated funds for the construction of a new temple, and soon a stone rotunda in the classical style appeared on the old site. In 1812, the French invaders desecrated the Grebnevskaya Church, which is why it later had to be re-consecrated.
At the beginning of the 20th century, the building was renovated, slightly changing its appearance. However, the renovated church did not receive believers for long: after the Revolution, it became difficult and even dangerous to hold services, and in the 30s the building completely came under the jurisdiction of the new government. In 1991, the temple was returned to the Orthodox, reconstructed and consecrated for the third time.
Temple of the Savior Not Made by Hands
- Address: s. Dressings.
The bright Spasskaya Church in the village of Ubory is a legacy of the 18th century, when the settlement belonged to the boyar Sheremetyev. In 1697, the serf Yakov Bukhvostov, trained in architecture, built a magnificent stone temple in the increasingly popular Baroque style on the site of a wooden church. A unique floral pattern on the walls of the building has been preserved to this day. After all the vicissitudes, the church still adorns the village and attracts tourists and pilgrims.
Areas, real estate, prices
Odintsovo: Districts, real estate, prices
Just a few years ago, the cost of housing in different parts of the city was well limited. But thanks to extensive development, old houses began to coexist with modern high-rise buildings and prices almost equalized. But still, the prestige of individual areas influences this factor. Odintsovo is divided into microdistricts, each with its own characteristics and real estate offerings. Most microdistricts have a laconic digital designation.
Microdistrict | Peculiarities | Housing stock | Cost (purchase and rent of a one-room apartment on average). |
1 (First) | City center. All the necessary infrastructure, residential buildings, office and administrative tasks, and cultural organizations are concentrated here. | The old 5-story buildings were demolished. In their place, modern residential complexes were erected. You can find an option for every taste. | Purchase – 9 million rubles. Rent – 50,000 per month. |
1a | Almost identical to the previous area. But here it is more calm and quiet. | Mostly represented by secondary housing. | Purchase – 8 million rubles. Rent – 35-45,000 per month. |
2nd microdistrict | It was considered the best for permanent residence. Constant development has turned the green neighborhood into a concrete jungle. The condition of the roads has deteriorated greatly. | Many modern residential complexes. | Purchase – 10 million rubles. Rent – 45,000 per month. |
3rd microdistrict | At the moment, long-term development of the area continues. Many green areas have been destroyed, there is not enough parking, as well as infrastructure. | New residential complexes and the primary real estate market predominate. | Purchase – 8 million rubles. Rent – 35,000 per month. |
4th microdistrict | A microdistrict with good prestige, just 10 km from Moscow. A cultural and well-kept part of the city with sufficient infrastructure. | Resale housing in good repair, several modern residential complexes. | Purchase – 9 million rubles. Rent – 35,000 per month. |
5th microdistrict | Well landscaped, there are gardens and schools. Construction is also actively underway here, but overall the neighborhood is considered good for living. | Lots of new buildings. | |
5a and 5b | The neighborhoods are relatively new. There is plenty of real estate here, but there are serious problems with infrastructure. | Mostly new buildings. | Purchase – 8 million rubles. Rent – 35,000 per month. |
6th microdistrict | An almost completely rebuilt area with sufficient infrastructure. | New buildings and several houses from the last century are in good condition. | Purchase – 8 million rubles. Rent – 35,000 per month. |
6-a | A new microdistrict, where the infrastructure situation is still difficult. | Primary housing stock | Purchase – 10 million rubles. Rent – 40,000 per month. |
7th microdistrict | Also considered the city center. There is enough social infrastructure here. Residents note heavy gas pollution in this part of the city. | Various offers in new buildings and on the secondary market. | Purchase – 8.5 million rubles. Rent – 35,000 per month. |
8th microdistrict | An average microdistrict with problems with infrastructure, a lack of places in kindergartens, as well as constant construction of green areas. | Modern high-rise buildings coexist with Stalinist buildings. | Purchase – 9 million rubles. Rent – 45,000 per month. |
9th microdistrict | One of the new areas. The infrastructure is still insufficient, but living here is comfortable. | New buildings: residential complex "Odintsovo Park". | Purchase – 12 million rubles. Rent – 45,000 per month. |
Otradnoe | Construction began not long ago and is still in progress. The area has become a little more populated, but residents still have to turn to other parts of the city for everything they need. | New buildings. | Purchase – 10 million rubles. Rent – 35,000 per month. |
Bakovka | Former dacha area. Now in the area on the outskirts of the city private residential buildings and high-rise buildings coexist. But there are serious problems with infrastructure here. There aren't even enough grocery stores. The crime situation here is also unfavorable. | Modern residential complexes, as well as individual housing construction projects. | Purchase – 10 million rubles. Rent – 35,000 per month. |
Odintsovo-1 | A former military town, quiet and calm. The microdistrict is actively developing, but for now there is still a strong push towards the periphery remote from the center. | Mostly secondary housing. | Purchase – 11 million rubles. Rent – 55,000 per month. |
New Trekhgorka (Kutuzovsky) | A typical residential area with sufficient infrastructure. There are problems with landscaping here. Compared to other microdistricts, it is empty and dirty. | Mostly new houses, many proposals for shared construction. | Purchase – 9 million rubles. Rent – 35,000 per month. |
Springs, Knyazhichi, Odinburg | These are cottage villages with their own infrastructure. They belong to the elite categories of housing. | Individual housing construction objects, cottages and private houses, town houses. | Purchase – 30 million rubles. Rent – 100,000 per month. |
When navigating around the city, the names of residential complexes are also used, for example, residential complex “Laikovo”, residential complex “New Gates of the Capital”, etc.
In Novaya Trekhgorka, the construction of residential buildings is taking too long. Lots of long-term construction. Unscrupulous development companies create additional problems. You need to carefully choose a developer with equity participation.
Historical estates in Odintsovo district
The Odintsovo district and the city itself include several villages that previously belonged to aristocrats. In the 18th-19th centuries. The surroundings of Odintsovo were a kind of Rublevskoye Highway of that time - a prestigious area near Moscow, where the wealthy elite lived. More than a dozen estates have survived to this day. Below we will tell you about the most interesting ones.
Podushkino
- Address: s. Podushkino.
The village of Podushkino is located a few kilometers from Odintsovo. At the end of the 19th century, one of the most brilliant estates in the Moscow region flourished here, built by the architect P.S. Boytsov. The heart of the estate is an incredibly beautiful stone mansion in a medieval style. The luxurious castle seems to have stepped out of the pages of a fairy tale about Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty. Linden and pine alleys run from the mansion in all directions.
The beautiful estate belonged to Nadezhda Verigina, née Kazakova. Widowed, the young woman remarried and became Baroness Meyendorff. In 1914, the couple was forced to leave Russia, abandoning their estate. After the Revolution, a children's colony was organized in Podushkino. In 1935, the castle turned into a sanatorium for the government elite. In the 21st century, the estate still serves those in power: today the residence of the head of government is located in Podushkino.
Pokrovskoye-Zasekino
- Address: s. Pokrovskoe.
According to the chronicles, the village of Pokrovskoye on the Izdenka River originated in the distant 16th century. Almost a century and a half later, these lands came into the possession of Prince M.F. Zhirovo-Zasekina. The nobleman's surname gave the village the second part of its name. In the 19th century, the estate went to the father of the Russian writer A.I. Herzen.
The writer himself came to the estate several times as a child, and served exile here as an adult. The manor house is a classic two-story building with porticoes and columns. A park has been planted around the mansion; some trees remember the times of Herzen. During the Soviet years, a school operated in the estate; later the building passed into private hands.
Uspenskoye
- Address: s. Uspenskoe.
The Uspenskoye estate is located in the village of the same name on the banks of the Moscow River. The magnificent mansion in the neo-Gothic style resembles the home of an English aristocrat during the reign of Queen Victoria. The building of this attraction was built in the 80s of the 19th century according to the design of the architect P.S. Boytsova.
A few years later, the estate was acquired by Sergei Morozov, brother of the famous philanthropist Savva Morozov. Sergei was involved in industry, earned millions and spent considerable money on charity. The younger Morozov patronized talented poor artists, among whom was the landscape painter Isaac Levitan. The painter visited Uspensky several times, where he painted several canvases. The writer Anton Chekhov also came to the estate.
After 1917, the industrialist was dispossessed, and a shelter for orphans was placed in the estate. Afterwards, the place of the shelter was occupied by the Institute of Horse Breeding, however, it did not last long, and shortly before the Great Patriotic War, a regular school was opened in the mansion. Since the 60s, a department of the hospital of the Russian Academy of Sciences has been operating in the building.
Nazaryevo
- Address: s. Nazaryevo.
The estate in the village of Nazaryevo, like Bolshie Vyazemy, originally belonged to Prince Boris Golitsyn. In the mid-19th century, the Golitsyns became related to the Mikhalkovs, and the building passed to the latter as a dowry.
The new owners built a brick house on the estate, which has survived to this day. It is almost impossible to enter the territory because it now belongs to the presidential administration.
Gorki-10
- Address: s. Gorki-10.
The first estate in the village of Gorki-10 appeared back in the 18th century. Over the next two centuries, the land changed hands and was rebuilt several times. The last owner was the philanthropist Savva Morozov, who built a new manor house on the territory.
In the 1930s, writer Maxim Gorky lived and worked in the former estate. The main work written during this period is the novel “The Life of Klim Samgin.” After the collapse of the USSR, the estate became the property of the government of the Russian Federation.
Dunino
- Address: s. Dunino.
The estate in the village of Dunino is the only wooden mansion that has survived to this day in good condition. House of Finnish entrepreneur R.A. Oswald was built in 1901, but became famous thanks to another owner: in 1948, the estate passed into the hands of the writer M.M. Prishvina. The unusual house consists of two tiers, the lower one is made of bricks, the upper one is made of logs. Today the Prishvin Museum operates in the mansion.
Vvedenskoye
- Address: s. Vvedenskoe.
Another magnificent estate in the classicist style is located in the village of Vvedenskoye. The rich estate originally belonged to the Golitsyns, later went to the Lopukhins, and then passed from one noble family to another.
At the beginning of the 20th century, successive owners erected a luxurious two-story mansion, which after the Revolution housed government agencies. The remarkable Soviet director Sergei Bondarchuk filmed some scenes in the estate for his Oscar-winning film “War and Peace.” The house is currently being restored.
Education in Odintsovo
Education in Odintsovo
If you read administrative reports, schools and kindergartens are constantly being built in Odintsovo. But in reality the situation is not improving. There have always been problems with a lack of places in preschool and school institutions. Considering that construction is proceeding at a tremendous pace, people come here from all over the country, as well as neighboring countries, educational institutions are overcrowded.
At the moment the situation looks like this by region.
Area | Population density (persons/ha) | Number of kindergartens | Number of schools |
1 | 290 | 3 | 4 |
1A | 515 | 2 | 1 |
2 | 370 | 4 | 2 |
3 | 347 | 2 | 2 |
4 | 357 | 6 | 3 |
5 | 344 | 2 | 2 |
5A | 436 | 1 | |
5 B | 115 | 1 | 1 |
6 | 320 | 1 | |
7 | 260 | 4 | 2 |
8 | 257 | 3 | 3 |
9 | 835 | 2 | |
Kutuzovsky | 770 | 1 | 2 |
Odintsovo-1 | 405 | 2 | 1 |
Odinburgh | 545 | 2 | 2 |
It is worth considering that the capacity of kindergartens and schools may vary. Therefore, sometimes 2 institutions cover a larger territory than 4. Including private kindergartens in Odintsovo there are no more than 70 such institutions. Among the gardens according to rating the following are distinguished:
- Kindergarten No. 15 (the only one financed by the administration).
- Kindergarten No. 55 (Child Development Center).
- Kindergarten No. 35 “Forget-me-not”.
- Kindergarten No. 57 “Golden Key”.
- Kindergarten No. 65.
- Children's soot No. 40 “Chamomile”.
It is safe to say that the majority of the population of Odintsovo (especially visitors) choose private gardens. There are more than 200 of them in the city. Groups are small, 7-10 people. The cost of such a garden starts from 25 thousand rubles per month.
Schools in Odintsovo are also problematic. There are absolutely not enough of them. But the level of education is high, educational institutions are in the TOP 50 best schools in the Moscow region. Therefore, if your goal is a good education, consider studying at the following institutions:
- Odintsovo linguistic gymnasium.
- Regional gymnasium named after. Primakova.
- Odintsovo Lyceum No. 10.
- Odintsovo Lyceum No. 6 named after. A.S. Pushkin.
- Lyceum No. 2.
- Commercial gymnasium No. 6. (famous singer Alena Apina teaches vocals here).
Education here is quite expensive (from 30 thousand rubles). But also a high Unified State Exam score, an opportunity to get into a good university in the future. It is worth noting the frequent complaints from residents about the abolition of large school construction projects due to commercial gain. Instead, the area was increased.
There are more than 30 technicians and colleges in Odintsovo, but this also includes various branches. According to reviews, the College of Integrated Technologies has a dubious reputation. Here they complain about constant extortion, constant recruitment of new teachers and the inability to obtain information. The following are in the ranking of the best:
- Odintsovo Technical School (Former Industrial and Economic College).
- GBPOUMO Industrial and Economic College.
- Polytechnic College.
- College of Urban Planning, Transportation and Technology.
Being close to Moscow makes it possible to enter universities in the capital. But in Odintsovo itself there are higher educational institutions:
- Institute of International Social and Humanitarian Relations.
- Odintsovo branch of the International Law Institute.
- Western Moscow Institute of Tourism is a branch of the Russian International Academy of Tourism.
- Branch of the Moscow Psychological and Social Institute.
- Odintsovo Humanitarian University.
- Golitsyn Border Institute of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation.
Assessing the average rating for the Moscow region, Odintsovo is not the best situation with the number of places in kindergartens and schools. But at the same time, the level of education is high and there are good prospects due to the proximity of the capital.

Medicine
Odintsovo: Medicine
In Odintsovo there are only 4 adult public clinics and 6 children's clinics. But these are large medical centers with everything you need. Given the high level of wages, this is one of the few cities where there is a sufficient number of specialists in all areas. Private medical centers and dentists operate everywhere. There are several antenatal clinics, a perinatal center and a maternity hospital.
But there are problems with calling an ambulance. Constant traffic jams lead to serious delays. Therefore, it is recommended that in emergency situations and if possible, you can get to the hospital on your own.
Work and wages in Odintsovo
Work and wages in Odintsovo
Odintsovo is a center of gravity for large enterprises. In the city you can triple in almost any field and in any specialty. There is a shortage of blue-collar skills, so builders, loaders, and salespeople will find work in the very first days. It will be more difficult for general practitioners, managers, and realtors. Yes, these positions have high salaries, but there is no shortage of specialists.
The average salary in Odintsovo is 50,000 rubles. This is not at all a lot for a large family near Moscow, but all vacancies were evaluated, including all the lowest paid ones.
The following are among the top in-demand professions:
When looking for vacancies, you can contact the following large companies:
- RBU Odintsovo.
- Factory MODER.
- Moscow Pumping LLC.
- SKP-service.
But some large enterprises are being liquidated, like the Bakovo Rubber Products Plant. It caused many problems to the population due to constant fires. The likely reason was high competition and criminal motives. Employees are always needed for chain stores, retail outlets, and warehouses.
The business sector in Odintsovo is poorly developed. The lack of kindergartens and shops leads to a logical decision - to start your own business. This could be a good option for visitors from other cities.
Infrastructure, entertainment, leisure in Odintsovo
The city is developing and building up too actively, so there is a shortage of social and commercial facilities. Schools and kindergartens are not the only problem. For example, making an appointment for vaccination with a child is problematic. For those who do not have a residence permit, this is almost impossible.
Infrastructure, entertainment, leisure in Odintsovo
Representatives of the literary intelligentsia will like Odintsovo. They fight for cultural heritage here, there is a library and information center, and many historical and modern museums. There are 8 adult and children's libraries. It will be interesting to visit the Nemchinovsky cultural and leisure center and the Folk Art Center, N. Bondareva’s children’s theater, the Odintsovo municipal city house of culture “Solnechny” and the theater-studio “Our House”. The municipal exhibition center hosts major exhibitions and fairs. It is also an architectural masterpiece, made in the form of a hemisphere with an area of 800 square meters.
Many facilities have been built for sports fans in Odintsovo:
- Sports and health club "SV Fitness".
- Fitness club CityFitness.
- Fitness center SILVER GYM.
- Fitness club "HavanaGym".
- CSC "Dream".
- ROO "MOS Club Olimp".
- Sports club "Iskra".
- Municipal Unitary Enterprise "Municipal Children's Center for Hockey and Figure Skating."
- MAUS "Volleyball and sports complex".
- Odintsovo Sports Center.
- OJSC Odintsovo DRSU.
- A sports recreation park with a roller ski track named after five-time Olympic champion and Hero of Russia Larisa Lazutina.
Surprisingly, in such a developed city near Moscow, things are bad with the trade sector. Most residents prefer to shop at open markets and farm shops.
Yuri Taranenko, director of the commercial real estate department at RRG:
“In the city of Odintsovo and the Odintsovo district there are many retail spaces - especially along the Mozhaiskoe highway and near the central railway station, but, unfortunately, not all of them meet modern requirements, most of them cannot be called conceptual. The exception is the regional shopping center "Vestor", as well as the shopping center "Picnic" located on the road to the city.
There are cafes and restaurants serving different cuisines in different areas. According to reviews, the best are:
- Restaurant Gala.
- Restaurant "Crystal".
- Restaurant "Country Hearth".
- Cafe "TARTUFO".
- Bar “Where Am I?”
According to reviews, it is worth avoiding the Terem establishments on Verkhne-Proletarskaya and MixFood Market on Chistyakova. But opinions are subjective. There are several cinemas, bowling clubs, and hookah bars. It’s not difficult to get to the capital, where there are definitely no problems with leisure time.
There will be something to do for nightlife lovers too. There are several clubs here. “ZEBRA”, “Night Club 108”, “Garazh” are popular. The Cherry Club has a dubious reputation for providing character.

Transport, roads
This is the eternal problem of Odintsovo. No matter how diligently the administration expands roads or designs new interchanges, the city remains a complete traffic jam. Four federal highways pass through the city at once, one of which, on the northern bypass, is a toll highway. Interestingly, it is the most expensive in Europe!
Odintsovo: Transport, roads
Getting to Moscow is faster and more convenient by train; the journey will take only 25-30 minutes. And by car it’s at least an hour and a half, not even during rush hour. The situation is also alleviated by the light rail railway connecting several cities with the capital.
Mostly large buses run inside Odintsovo. Residents have repeatedly complained that this option is less convenient in comparison with the maneuverable Gazelles, but priority is given to the former. The roads in the city cannot be called good. Constant high load allows the coating to last no more than 1-2 seasons. The situation with parking spaces is critical. They are practically impossible to find.
