This article is about the territorial unit.
For the city, see Orekhovo-Zuevo; for the former district, see Orekhovo-Zuevsky district. Orekhovo-Zuevsky urban district
- a municipal entity with the status of an urban district, located in the east of the Moscow region of Russia. Within the framework of the administrative-territorial structure, the city of regional subordination of Orekhovo-Zuevo with its administrative territory corresponds to the administrative-territorial unit.
The head of the Orekhovo-Zuevsky urban district is Ruslan Valentinovich Zaglovatsky.
Geography
It borders on the urban districts of Pavlovsky Posad and Elektrogorsk in the west, Yegoryevsk in the south, Shatura in the east, as well as Voskresensky and Ramensky urban districts in the southwest. In the north there is a border with the Petushinsky district of the Vladimir region.
Relief
The geology of the Orekhovo-Zuevsky site is formed on the Meshcherskaya lacustrine-glacial lowland plain. The relief has hills alternating with depressions and a decline towards Klyazma. The lowlands fill with water and form lakes and swamps. Peat deposits are widespread. The soils are soddy-podzolic, gray and fertile in the southwest. The area is marshy and rich in forests.
Hydrography
On the territory of the Orekhovo-Zuevsky urban district flows the Klyazma River, its numerous tributaries: Vyrka, Drezna, Senga, Bolshaya Dubna and its tributaries Malaya Dubna, Safonikha and Mysovka. The Moscow River basin includes the Nerskaya rivers and its tributaries Guslitsa, Volnaya, Ponor and Obot. There are lakes Mechta, Eight, Amazon, Isaac, the Gorsky reservoir and the Golden Sands quarry.
Climate
The climate is moderate continental. The average temperature in January is −10, −11 C. Winter is snowy, uneven, with slight frosts. In warm winters, the temperature can rise to +3 C, in cold winters it drops to −19 C, and sometimes drops to −30 C below zero. The thickness of the snow cover reaches 80 centimeters. The average temperature in July is +18 C. Summer is warm, with heavy showers and thunderstorms. The amount of precipitation ranges from 550 to 450 millimeters. 25-30% of precipitation occurs in winter.
Climate and ecology of Orekhovo-Zuevo
The city is located next to peat bogs and almost every autumn there is smog in the city, and in 2010, when the problem of peat bog fires affected even Moscow, in Orekhovo-Zuevo it was no longer possible to make out anything at a distance of 10 meters.
The ecology of the city is quite acceptable, since there is nothing particularly polluting it. Yes, there are a couple of strange factories here - Karbolit and Respirator, and the first one was noticed in a spill of 200 tons of phenol, however, this disgrace was not shown on the central television channels, just as they did not show the liquidation of the accident, but every resident of the city is aware of this event. Despite this, people continue to swim on Lake Isaac, into which compounds of this substance could theoretically enter through groundwater, and it is unlikely that a folk trail will ever grow there.

When the municipal formation of the Orekhovo-Zuevo urban district was created in 2005, it included one settlement - the city of Orekhovo-Zuevo[4].
On January 1, 2022[5], 3 abolished rural settlements (Vereiskoye, Demikhovskoye, Malodubenskoye) were included in the Orekhovo-Zuevo urban district from the liquidated Orekhovo-Zuyevo municipal district.
On January 10, 2022, a new urban district of Likino-Dulyovo was formed by merging the remaining settlements of the liquidated Orekhovo-Zuevsky municipal district (the urban settlements of Drezna, Kurovskoye, Likino-Dulyovo and the rural settlements of Belavinskoye, Gorskoye, Davydovskoye, Dorokhovskoye, Ilyinskoye, Novinskoye, Sobolevskoye)[ 6].
By the Law of the Moscow Region of March 20, 2022, the urban districts of Orekhovo-Zuyevo and Likino-Dulyovo, from April 1, 2022, were united into a single municipal formation, the Orekhovo-Zuevo urban district[7].
Its territory until June 2022 consisted of 2 administrative-territorial units - the cities of regional subordination Orekhovo-Zuevo and Likino-Dulyovo with administrative territory. By the Law of the Moscow Region of June 3, 2022, the city of Likino-Dulyovo was transferred to the administrative subordination of Orekhov-Zuev from June 16, 2022: thus, the city of regional subordination of Likino-Dulyovo with its administrative territory was abolished[8].

The coat of arms of the city of Orekhovo-Zuevo is the official symbol of the Orekhovo-Zuevo urban district of the Moscow region of the Russian Federation.
Description of the coat of arms
In a scarlet (red) field, strewn with small silver rhombuses, cut crosswise, there is a silver wavy belt, indirect on the left, at the bottom having an azure (blue, light blue) inner border and accompanied at the top by a golden hazel branch with two nuts, and below by a plover sitting with folded wings , whose head covers the edge of the belt.
The meaning of the coat of arms
The city's coat of arms is a "vowel" and speaks of the origin of the city's name. The city arose on the site of the villages of Orekhovo and Zuevo, located on opposite banks of the Klyazma River.
The red color symbolizes the Morozov strike of 1885 - the largest action of Russian workers in the 19th century.
The narrow blue line, repeating the contour of the white stripe, symbolizes the Klyazma River, dividing the city into Orekhovo and Zuevo.
A golden hazel branch with two nuts symbolizes Orekhovo.
The plover bird symbolizes Zuevo.
Author of the coat of arms
— Gennady Dmitrievich Krasulenkov, first chairman of the Orekhovo-Zuevsky regional local history association “Radunitsa”, Orekhovo-Zuevsky journalist, poet, artist.
