In a new look
Turin residents will celebrate the anniversary at the end of June, on City Day, said Alexander Ivanovich. But Turinsk has actually already turned 420 years old: it was founded on January 30 (February 12, new style) 1600 by decree of Tsar Boris Godunov on the site of the Epanchin-Yurt fortress by Ermak Turinsk became a real gateway to Siberia and for a long time was considered a “Siberian prison” - people disliked by the state were sent here. Over the years, rebels from the detachments of Stepan Razin and Emelyan Pugachev , Decembrists Vasily Ivashev, Nikolai Basargin, Ivan Pushchin, Stepan Semyonov . Turinsk has a special connection with the Decembrist era.

– Turinsk is the only city in the Middle Urals where monuments of that time have been preserved: residential buildings of the Decembrists, the grave memorial of the Ivashevs, a park founded by the Decembrists. There is a memorial museum of the Decembrists. The park opened last year after reconstruction and found a second life. This is the historical core of the city, which invariably attracts tourists,” explained Alexander Puzyrev.
In the anniversary year, Turin residents plan to continue the improvement of public areas and the restoration of memorial sites. The program of events to prepare the city for the 420th anniversary was agreed upon by the governor of the region, Evgeny Kuyvashev .
– On behalf of the governor, we were allocated 30 million rubles from the regional budget for the improvement of Lenin Street. This is part of a larger project to renovate the city center, which also includes the improvement of the city square. The memorial to those killed in the Civil and Great Patriotic Wars will be reconstructed; the cost of the work is 20 million rubles. The overhaul of the district House of Culture has already begun - funds have also been allocated on behalf of the governor, said Alexander Ivanovich.
City authorities intend to enter Turinsk into the All-Russian competition for the improvement of small towns and historical settlements in order to receive co-financing for larger improvement projects. The development of urban infrastructure is also underway: this year the reconstruction of treatment facilities will begin in Turinsk, two new boiler houses will be put into operation, and construction of the road along Zagorodnaya Street will begin.

City of Turinsk
Turinsk was founded on January 30, 1600 and today is one of the oldest cities in the Urals and Siberia.
The city is located on the right bank of the Tura River, on the territory of the former largest Mansi settlement of Epanchin-Yurt, which in 1582 was captured by Cossacks led by Ermak and burned to the ground as a sign of intimidation of the Siberian Tatars. Today, the city of Turinsk is a small provincial town within the Sverdlovsk region, 252 kilometers from Yekaterinburg, with a population of less than 20 thousand people. From 1996 to the present, there has been a tendency towards an outflow of population from the city, the main reason for which is the total lack of jobs. The only large enterprise operating in the city is a pulp and paper plant that produces paper, wallpaper and fiberboards, and logging and wood processing are also widely developed. In Soviet times, several large enterprises existed in the city of Turinsk, which included the Turin match factory, a children's toy factory and a poultry factory, but in the early 1990s, the enterprises were closed, the workers were fired, and the workshops were plundered. Since 2012, in the city of Turinsk, Sverdlovsk region, there has been a CJSC Turin Match Factory, but what this closed society does is unknown.
Turinsk has many different monuments, memorial plaques, military and civilian equipment from different eras.
In 2000, a memorial sign was solemnly installed in one of the city squares in honor of the 400th anniversary of the city.
There are many ancient buildings in Turinsk, mainly in the lower part of the city. The houses of the Decembrists S.M. have been preserved. Semenova, V.P. Ivashev and N.V. Basargin, who were here in exile. In the house of the Decembrist V.P. Ivashev is now a memorial museum of the Decembrists. The park, founded by the Decembrists, still exists today; it once housed a small children's amusement park.
Near the house of the Decembrist V.P. Ivashev, in the upper part of the city, on the banks of the Tura River, is located the St. Nicholas Convent, founded in 1822 by the Venerable Basilisk of Siberia, which was restored and reopened in 1994. The monastery contains parts of the relics of St. Basilisk.
In 2008, in the city of Turinsk, a road bridge was opened across the Tura River, almost 2 kilometers long, and together with the entrances to it 6 kilometers. It is the largest road bridge in the Ural region and one of the largest road bridges in Russia. The bridge connected Turinsky, Tavdinsky and Taborinsky districts. Immediately after its opening it became one of the city's landmarks. On their wedding day, newlyweds often come here to leave a “castle of love.”
Review
This year, as usual, we decided to grandly celebrate Russia Day with an annual car rally. A lot of people gathered. The convoy consisted of eight cars and twenty-two people, including two children. Realizing that we don’t have much time (the holiday fell on Wednesday). We decided to go to the wonderful city of Turinsk, Sverdlovsk region. 06/12/2013 7:00 all participants gathered on the site near the monument to the first gold miner in the Urals, Erofey Markov. Description: The monument is installed on top of the dump of an old mine. According to historical information, in these places, the peasant Erofey Markov discovered a piece of quartz with gold inclusions, where the first gold mine in Russia was subsequently founded. After greeting each other and determining the order of travel, we set off! The first stop was in the village of Aramashevo. The planned arrival time was 9:00, but the road was clear, and we easily reached our destination in an hour and a half. Description: The ancient village of Aramashevo with a 380-year history is the oldest of the large settlements in the Alapaevsky region, 120 km from Yekaterinburg. There are many interesting coastal rocks around it and in the village itself: Mamin-stone, Shaitan-stone. In the center of the village, on a 42-meter rock, popularly nicknamed the Church Stone, there is a Temple in the name of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God. The temple has a unique history and architecture. Amazing landscapes invite you to relax and take photographs against the backdrop of ancient stones and the Rezh River. The Temple is currently being restored, but it is still operational. At the foot of the Church Stone there is a historical spring “Kreshchensky” with holy water, which you can wash with and take with you. We were met and taken along the main street of the village to the church on the bank of the Rezh River. They were already waiting for us near the church with bread and salt and Russian folk songs. The director of the museum, Larisa Aleksandrovna Doronina, told the history of the region, local legends and invited us to visit the Aramashevsky Museum of Local Lore next time. Having refreshed ourselves, we moved on - the city of Turinsk was waiting for us. At 12:00 we arrived at the stele of Turinsk. Description: Turinsk is the administrative center of the Turin urban district of the Sverdlovsk region. The city is located on the right bank of the Tura River, 253 km from Yekaterinburg. It was founded on January 30, 1600 as a fort on the site of the ancient settlement of Epanchin (Epanchin-Yurt) destroyed by Ermak. Thanks to the arable lands located near the city, in the 1640s Turinsk became a major Siberian center of grain trade. Since the 18th century, Turinsk has become a place of exile for state criminals. Since 1782, Turinsk became a district city of the Tobolsk region of the Tobolsk governorship (later - the Tobolsk province). In the 17th - early 20th centuries, Turinsk was a major Siberian craft center: wood carving and gilding, gold embroidery, icon painting, shoemaking and blacksmithing. Furs were brought from Turinsk to the Irbit fair. At the entrance to the city they were already waiting for us, we took pictures near the stele and headed to the St. Nicholas Convent. St. Nicholas Convent. Founded in 1822 by the Venerable Basilisk of Siberia on the site of an abolished monastery. Next we proceeded to the central square of the city, where a concert dedicated to Russia Day was held. We were greeted from the main stage of the city - in response, we congratulated the townspeople on the holiday and sang the Russian Anthem. Then the path lay to the house-museum of the Decembrist V.P. Ivashev. Since 1993, in the Ivashevs’ house there has been a memorial museum of the Decembrists, which tells about the stay of these wonderful people in Turinsk. The atmosphere of the first half of the 19th century is recreated here. Musical evenings are held in the fireplace hall; in the center of the hall there is a German piano, a gift to the museum from the famous director Nikita Mikhalkov. After lunch at a local cafe, we went to the hot spring. This source is an excellent alternative to Sosnovy Bor in the Tyumen region. The area is gradually being improved. At the moment there is parking, changing trailers, lockers with electronic locks in the locker rooms (28 lockers in each male and female trailer), a bar and a toilet. Water from the pipe flows into the pool, divided into three sections, next to wooden paths and benches. Prices are acceptable for any budget. On the way home, we decided to stop near an ostrich farm at the entrance to the city of Irbit. And unexpectedly for us, we were able to visit the ostriches. This is how our Turinsk 2013 motor rally, dedicated to Russia Day, took place. All participants were satisfied with the trip, and some even wrote words of gratitude: Vladislav Shchadrin - composer, soloist of the ensemble of the author's song "Green Lamp" "I, as a musician, as a creative person, writing, living on tour and having seen a lot in life, was once again convinced that our Urals are the treasure trove of Russia! Moreover, I saw obsessed, interesting people in love with cars, romance and the road! Thanks to these people, I saw amazing places! Along the route of the motor rally: Yekaterinburg - Turinsk, under the strict guidance of the main automobile pro Semyon Avgustovich Belkin, I became a full participant and, like a sponge, absorbed all the most interesting, curious things that would result in new poems, songs, stories! These people are doing a GREAT job!”
Need doctors and school
We walked around the central square of Turinsk and talked with the residents. This is what the townspeople told the Regional Newspaper.
– I love Turinsk very much - this is my small Motherland. The town is calm, quiet, among forests. My children, grandchildren - everyone lives here. We would like to resolve the issue with the new school by the city’s anniversary. There are a lot of children, studying in the second shift, meeting and seeing them off is an eternal problem,” shared pensioner Lidiya Sutormina.

– I love my city – there is clean air here, good people. I was born here, my family is here. In principle, we have everything for a normal life. There is only one problem - there is a very shortage of medical personnel. The city hospital and people are suffering – something needs to be done about it,” said young mother Marina Morozova.
The head of the administration, Alexander Puzyrev, admitted: both problems for Turinsk are very acute.
– There are four schools in the city, buildings built in the 1950s and 60s, all overcrowded - more than 800 children study in the second shift. Of particular concern is school No. 4, where one of the buildings has been in disrepair since 2012, the gym and canteen are located in another building, and children are forced to walk there along the street - there is no warm passage. A new school is urgently needed; Turin residents have been waiting for it for several years. Everything is ready for construction: there is a design that has passed state examination and a plot of land. But we were not included in the state school construction programs for 2022,” the head said.
Medicine in the city is also not easy, he commented:
– There is a significant shortage of medical personnel, although the city has all the conditions for work: comfortable housing is provided, the children of medical workers are provided with places in kindergartens, and employment issues for family members are resolved. Turinsk is a small town, and doctors and paramedics who come to us have the right to financial support. The district budget also provides funds for social support for resident doctors. Our guys study in medical institutions, including in targeted areas, but not all return to work in their hometown - apparently, the regional center is more attractive.

The issue is acute not only with personnel, Puzyrev noted, but also with carrying out major repairs of the clinic building, operating unit, surgical and therapeutic departments. The city submitted the design and estimate documentation to the regional Ministry of Health.
“We really hope for the support of the ministry,” the head concluded.

Turinsk, a small Ural town in the east of the region, is now celebrating 420 years since its founding. The other day we went there to find out how preparations for the anniversary events were going. And at the same time, talk to the new head of the local administration, Alexander Puzyrev, who took office less than a year ago.
