Description
In northwestern Russia, the Onega River is one of the largest. Many people falsely think that its name is connected with Lake Onega, but their water streams do not touch in any way, so there is no connection between them. The beginning of Onega is Lake Lacha, which is located in the Kargopol region, in the southwest of the Arkhangelsk region. The river, 416 kilometers long, flows through flat terrain, but this does not prevent the formation of wide reaches along its course. The catchment area does not exceed 56,900 square kilometers.
The Onega River has a huge number of tributaries: more than 3,000 small rivers, rivulets and streams flow into it. In its basin there are 14 large rivers, including the Ponga, Iksa, Kozha, Kena (left) and Mosha, Vonguda, Kodina, Voloshka, Nelnyuga, Modyuga (right). Onega flows into the White Sea.

Architecture, sights
The Monastery of the Cross was built on an elevated site at the southern tip of the island of Kiy.
On a steep granite rock is the Vozdvizhensky Cathedral (1660), the refectory adjacent to it is partially made of untreated granite blocks of granite. Church of the Nativity (1660), which is adjacent to a 2-story building of cells, now a rest house. From the White Sea side, the monumental complex of the monastery is organically inscribed into the relief of the rocky ledge.
In the vicinity of Onega, especially upstream of the river, numerous monuments of wooden architecture have been preserved.

What else is the Onega River famous for?
Fishing is the most common type of recreation in these places. Fishermen from all over Russia come here to relax and escape from the bustle of the city.
On Onega, 20 kilometers from Arkhangelsk, rapids formed in the last century, along which seething water flows. This is where the most famous inhabitant of the river lives - salmon. Spinning fishermen use strong gear to catch this fish, since fighting it requires painstakingly and for a long time. Due to the fact that salmon is an expensive type of fish, its numbers decrease every year.
At the mouth of the Onega River, near the White Sea, there is an excellent bite for perch, ide, and pike. Swimming along the river, you can meet schools of flounder, grayling, and sometimes whitefish and bream are caught on the bait. Water temperatures are relatively cool even in summer. This environment is ideal for burbot, which fishermen are eager to hunt throughout the season.
Fishing in multiple tributaries is no less interesting than on a large river. Brook trout, famous for its exquisite taste, is found in shallow reservoirs. It is located in hard-to-reach places, which must be reached through impenetrable bushes, but even a passive spinning angler will enjoy a successful catch.
Climate
- The climate is temperate, slightly continental with frequent cyclone incursions and high rainfall; characterized by moderately warm summers (from early May to early October) and moderately mild (for northern latitudes) winters. This is due to its coastal location and the influence of the Atlantic.
- A stable snow cover forms in mid-November and persists until the third ten days of April. The duration of its occurrence in Onega is 150-170 days. The average height of snow cover is from 20 cm in December to 40-45 cm in mid-winter, reaching its maximum value - 50-60 cm - in March.
- Average annual air temperature: +2.2 °C
- Relative humidity: 79%
- Average wind speed: 2.4 m/s

Sights on the way to Onega
Several iconic sights on the road to Onega are located in the village of Kholmogory. First of all, this is a cathedral complex.
It includes the bishop's chambers, a tented bell tower, the Church of the Twelve Apostles and the Descent of the Spirit, as well as the Transfiguration Cathedral. All buildings date back to the 18th century.
Cathedral complex
Another monument of Russian architecture is the Church of the Resurrection,
officially included in the list of monuments protected by the state.
Resurrection Church
You can’t ignore the Kholmogory Regional Museum of Local Lore
- branch of the historical and memorial museum of M.V. Lomonosov. Therefore, it is not surprising that a significant part of the exhibition is dedicated to the life of the great Russian scientist and poet.
One of the famous attractions on the road to Onega is Kiy Island.
Here is the Kyi Cross Monastery, which was built in 1656 on the initiative of Patriarch Nikon. There is plenty to do here for lovers of Russian architecture. After all, the abbot's building, the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, the Cathedral of the Exaltation of the Cross, the Nadkladeznaya Church and a fragment of the monastery fence have survived to this day.
An excerpt characterizing Onega (city)
“Don’t tell me such things, I’m engaged and love someone else,” she said quickly... “She looked at him. Anatole was not embarrassed or upset by what she said. - Don't tell me about this. What do I care? - he said. “I’m saying that I’m madly, madly in love with you.” Is it my fault that you are amazing? Let's start. Natasha, animated and anxious, looked around her with wide, frightened eyes and seemed more cheerful than usual. She remembered almost nothing of what happened that evening. They danced the Ecossaise and Gros Vater, her father invited her to leave, she asked to stay. Wherever she was, no matter who she spoke to, she felt his gaze on her. Then she remembered that she asked her father for permission to go to the dressing room to straighten her dress, that Helen followed her, told her laughing about her brother’s love, and that in the small sofa room she again met Anatole, that Helen disappeared somewhere, they were left alone and Anatole, Taking her hand, he said in a gentle voice: “I can’t go to you, but will I really never see you?” I love you madly. Really never?...” and he, blocking her path, brought his face closer to hers. His brilliant, large, masculine eyes were so close to her eyes that she saw nothing but these eyes. - Natalie?! – his voice whispered questioningly, and someone painfully squeezed her hands. - Natalie?! “I don’t understand anything, I have nothing to say,” said her look. Hot lips pressed against hers and at that very moment she felt free again, and the noise of Helen’s steps and dress was heard in the room. Natasha looked back at Helen, then, red and trembling, looked at him with frightened questioning and went to the door. “Un mot, un seul, au nom de Dieu, [One word, only one, for God’s sake,” said Anatole. She stopped. She really needed him to say this word, which would explain to her what had happened and to which she would answer him. “Nathalie, un mot, un seul,” he kept repeating, apparently not knowing what to say, and he repeated it until Helen approached them. Helen and Natasha went out into the living room again. Without staying for dinner, the Rostovs left. Returning home, Natasha did not sleep all night: she was tormented by the insoluble question of who she loved, Anatole or Prince Andrei. She loved Prince Andrei - she remembered clearly how much she loved him. But she loved Anatole too, that was certain. “Otherwise, how could all this have happened?” she thought. “If after that, when I said goodbye to him, I could answer his smile with a smile, if I could allow this to happen, then it means that I fell in love with him from the first minute. This means that he is kind, noble and beautiful, and it was impossible not to love him. What should I do when I love him and love another? she told herself, not finding answers to these terrible questions. The morning came with its worries and bustle. Everyone stood up, moved around, started talking, the milliners came again, Marya Dmitrievna came out again and called for tea. Natasha, with wide-open eyes, as if she wanted to intercept every glance directed at her, looked around restlessly at everyone and tried to seem the same as she had always been. After breakfast, Marya Dmitrievna (this was her best time), sitting down in her chair, called Natasha and the old count to her. “Well, my friends, now I’ve thought about the whole matter and here’s my advice to you,” she began. – Yesterday, as you know, I was with Prince Nikolai; Well, I talked to him... He decided to shout. You can't shout me down! I sang everything to him! - What is he? - asked the count. - What is he? crazy guy... doesn’t want to hear; Well, what can I say, and so we tormented the poor girl,” said Marya Dmitrievna. - And my advice to you is to finish your business and go home to Otradnoye... and wait there... - Oh, no! – Natasha screamed. “No, let’s go,” said Marya Dmitrievna. - And wait there. “If the groom comes here now, there won’t be a quarrel, but here he will talk everything over alone with the old man and then come to you.” Ilya Andreich approved this proposal, immediately understanding its reasonableness. If the old man relents, then all the better it will be to come to him in Moscow or Bald Mountains, later; if not, then it will be possible to get married against his will only in Otradnoye. “And the true truth,” he said. “I regret that I went to him and took her,” said the old count. - No, why regret it? Having been here, it was impossible not to pay respects. Well, if he doesn’t want to, that’s his business,” said Marya Dmitrievna, looking for something in her reticule. - Yes, and the dowry is ready, what else do you have to wait for? and what’s not ready, I’ll send it to you. Although I feel sorry for you, it’s better to go with God. “Having found what she was looking for in the reticule, she handed it to Natasha. It was a letter from Princess Marya. - He writes to you. How she suffers, poor thing! She is afraid that you will think that she does not love you. “Yes, she doesn’t love me,” said Natasha. “Nonsense, don’t talk,” Marya Dmitrievna shouted. - I won’t trust anyone; “I know that he doesn’t love me,” Natasha said boldly, taking the letter, and her face expressed dry and angry determination, which made Marya Dmitrievna look at her more closely and frown. “Don’t answer like that, mother,” she said. – What I say is true. Write an answer. Natasha did not answer and went to her room to read Princess Marya’s letter. Princess Marya wrote that she was in despair over the misunderstanding that had occurred between them. Whatever her father’s feelings, Princess Marya wrote, she asked Natasha to believe that she could not help but love her as the one chosen by her brother, for whose happiness she was ready to sacrifice everything. “However,” she wrote, “don’t think that my father was ill-disposed towards you. He is a sick and old man who needs to be excused; but he is kind, generous and will love the one who will make his son happy.” Princess Marya further asked that Natasha set a time when she could see her again. After reading the letter, Natasha sat down at the desk to write a response: “Chere princesse,” [Dear princess], she wrote quickly, mechanically and stopped. “What could she write next after everything that happened yesterday? Yes, yes, all this happened, and now everything is different,” she thought, sitting over the letter she had begun. “Should I refuse him? Is it really necessary? This is terrible!”... And in order not to think these terrible thoughts, she went to Sonya and together with her began to sort out the patterns. After dinner, Natasha went to her room and again took Princess Marya’s letter. - “Is it really all over? she thought. Did all this really happen so quickly and destroy everything that was before”! She recalled with all her former strength her love for Prince Andrei and at the same time felt that she loved Kuragin. She vividly imagined herself as the wife of Prince Andrei, imagined the picture of happiness with him repeated so many times in her imagination, and at the same time, flushed with excitement, imagined all the details of her yesterday's meeting with Anatole. “Why couldn’t it be together? sometimes, in complete eclipse, she thought. Then only I would be completely happy, but now I have to choose and without either of both I cannot be happy. One thing, she thought, to say what was meant to Prince Andrei or to hide it is equally impossible. And nothing is spoiled with this. But is it really possible to part forever with this happiness of Prince Andrei’s love, which I lived with for so long?” “Young lady,” the girl said in a whisper with a mysterious look, entering the room. – One person told me to tell it. The girl handed over the letter. “Only for Christ’s sake,” the girl was still saying when Natasha, without thinking, broke the seal with a mechanical movement and read Anatole’s love letter, of which she, without understanding a word, understood only one thing - that this letter was from him, from that man, whom she loves. “Yes, she loves, otherwise how could what happened happen? Could there be a love letter from him in her hand?” With shaking hands, Natasha held this passionate, love letter, composed for Anatoly by Dolokhov, and, reading it, found in it echoes of everything that it seemed to her that she herself felt. “Since last night, my fate has been decided: to be loved by you or to die. I have no other choice,” the letter began. Then he wrote that he knew that her relatives would not give her to him, Anatoly, that there were secret reasons for this that he alone could reveal to her, but that if she loved him, then she should say this word yes, and no human forces will not interfere with their bliss. Love will conquer everything. He will kidnap and take her to the ends of the world. “Yes, yes, I love him!” thought Natasha, re-reading the letter for the twentieth time and looking for some special deep meaning in every word. That evening Marya Dmitrievna went to the Arkharovs and invited the young ladies to go with her. Natasha stayed at home under the pretext of a headache. Returning late in the evening, Sonya entered Natasha's room and, to her surprise, found her not undressed, sleeping on the sofa. On the table next to her lay an open letter from Anatole. Sonya took the letter and began to read it. She read and looked at the sleeping Natasha, looking on her face for an explanation of what she was reading, but did not find it. The face was quiet, meek and happy. Clutching her chest so as not to suffocate, Sonya, pale and trembling with fear and excitement, sat down on a chair and burst into tears. “How did I not see anything? How could it have gone this far? Has she really stopped loving Prince Andrei? And how could she let Kuragin do this? He is a deceiver and a villain, that much is clear. What will happen to Nicolas, sweet, noble Nicolas, when he finds out about this? So this is what her excited, determined and unnatural face meant the third day, both yesterday and today, thought Sonya; but it cannot be that she loves him! Probably, not knowing from whom, she opened this letter. She's probably offended. She can't do this! Sonya wiped away her tears and walked up to Natasha, again peering into her face. - Natasha! – she said barely audible. Natasha woke up and saw Sonya. - Oh, she’s back? And with the determination and tenderness that happens in moments of awakening, she hugged her friend, but noticing the embarrassment on Sonya’s face, Natasha’s face expressed embarrassment and suspicion. - Sonya, have you read the letter? - she said. “Yes,” Sonya said quietly. Natasha smiled enthusiastically. - No, Sonya, I can’t do it anymore! - she said. “I can’t hide it from you anymore.” You know, we love each other!... Sonya, my dear, he writes... Sonya... Sonya, as if not believing her ears, looked at Natasha with all her eyes. - And Bolkonsky? - she said. - Oh, Sonya, oh, if only you could know how happy I am! - Natasha said. – You don’t know what love is... – But, Natasha, is it really all over? Natasha looked at Sonya with big, open eyes, as if not understanding her question. - Well, are you refusing Prince Andrei? - said Sonya. “Oh, you don’t understand anything, don’t talk nonsense, just listen,” Natasha said with instant annoyance. “No, I can’t believe it,” Sonya repeated. - I don't understand. How did you love one person for a whole year and suddenly... After all, you only saw him three times. Natasha, I don’t believe you, you’re being naughty. In three days, forget everything and so... “Three days,” said Natasha. “It seems to me that I have loved him for a hundred years.” It seems to me that I have never loved anyone before him. You can't understand this. Sonya, wait, sit here. – Natasha hugged and kissed her. “They told me that this happens and you heard correctly, but now I have only experienced this love.” It's not what it used to be. As soon as I saw him, I felt that he was my master, and I was his slave, and that I could not help but love him. Yes, slave! Whatever he tells me, I will do. You don't understand this. What should I do? What should I do, Sonya? - Natasha said with a happy and frightened face. “But think about what you’re doing,” said Sonya, “I can’t leave it like that.” These secret letters... How could you let him do this? - she said with horror and disgust, which she could hardly hide. “I told you,” Natasha answered, “that I have no will, how can you not understand this: I love him!” “Then I won’t let this happen, I’ll tell you,” Sonya screamed with tears breaking through. “What are you doing, for God’s sake... If you tell me, you are my enemy,” Natasha spoke. - You want my misfortune, you want us to be separated... Seeing this fear of Natasha, Sonya cried tears of shame and pity for her friend. - But what happened between you? – she asked. -What did he tell you? Why doesn't he go to the house? Natasha did not answer her question. “For God’s sake, Sonya, don’t tell anyone, don’t torture me,” Natasha begged. – You remember that you cannot interfere in such matters. I revealed to you... - But why these secrets! Why doesn't he go to the house? – Sonya asked. - Why doesn’t he directly seek your hand? After all, Prince Andrei gave you complete freedom, if that’s the case; but I don't believe it. Natasha, have you thought about what secret reasons there could be? Natasha looked at Sonya with surprised eyes. Apparently, this was the first time she had asked this question and she didn’t know how to answer it. – I don’t know what the reasons are. But there are reasons! Sonya sighed and shook her head in disbelief. “If there were reasons...” she began. But Natasha, guessing her doubt, interrupted her in fear. - Sonya, you can’t doubt him, you can’t, you can’t, do you understand? – she shouted. – Does he love you?
Trips
Hi all! Almost in the footsteps of the comrade den_ferum with his instructions on the Caucasus Mining Waters was born as a kind of guidebook for those who want to ride around Karelia. The information was prepared based on my two trips around Onega in August and September 2022, which means it should not be very out of date. Since there are a lot of people here who like to read rather than watch, here is the text and video (a video of 4 short videos, at the end of each there is a transition to the next one).
Around Onega on a motorcycle. Instructions 2022. Traveling around Onega is not difficult, however, as in any business, there are nuances that are best known in advance. In our case, the nuances are hidden on the section of the road between Petrozavodsk and Vytegra. So, if you don’t know what Oshta, Megra and Kedra are, then I recommend reading further.
We are planning a route.
The first thing to think about is where to start and which way to go. If you start from St. Petersburg, then there are two main options for starting this route: go to Petrozavodsk or to Vytegra. But in any case, this does not cancel the second question, where next, clockwise or counterclockwise? Why did I start from Petrozavodsk? Initially, I planned to get to Vytegra, spend the night there and go up the right bank, i.e. clockwise. From St. Petersburg to Vytegra is only 430 km, even less than to Petrozavodsk. Yandex and Google hint that there is a rough road there, but they don’t say how rough it is. But experienced comrades dumbfounded me that I might not get there at all. The fact is that on the Vytegra-Oshta section the road condition is very unpredictable, and it is better to storm this section in the morning rather than in the evening. Therefore, I decided to go clockwise: Petrozavodsk-Medvezhyegorsk-Vytegra-Petrozavodsk.
I will talk about individual sections of the route in this order.
How many days do you need? The total length of the route around Onega is about 600 km, and I am sure that there are people who traveled around it in a day. But Karelia is not vodka, you need to drink it in small sips. There is too much beauty around to drive without stopping. This route ideally takes five, or even seven, days. Of course, you can travel around in a couple of days, but this is definitely not what you need to go to Karelia for. Personally, I couldn’t find five days in a row, so I went twice. Therefore, do not be surprised when you see both summer and autumn shots.
Refills! Gas stations are scarce in Karelia, so be prepared to stand in lines. There may not be another gas station nearby. You need to clearly understand how far you can travel without refueling and at what speed. There are many places where you can go all out and the gas will run out much faster than usual. I assumed that I could travel 300 km on a tank. I read a couple of times that in Karelia at gas stations they force you to roll a motorcycle up and away from the pump with your hands and feet. I haven’t come across any of these, but I did see a sign about the engine being turned off. At some gas stations “in the outback” it is impossible to refuel “to full” using a card. Name the number of liters and fill up. They also refused to take my money in advance and then pay by card. But again, the choice is not great.
1 DAY. The route St. Petersburg - Petrozavodsk, through Lodeynoye Pole, about 450 km.
Nothing special, just a normal run. The road condition is good. Overnight in Petrozavodsk. There are no problems with housing; there are a lot of offers on booking with an adequate price. The first night I spent in a hostel for 500 rubles. On the second visit - at the Voznesensky Hotel at the entrance to Petrozavodsk just from the Vytegra. maybe someone will recognize themselves)
In order to somehow diversify the route, I recommend stopping for a rest after Lodeynoye Pole on the shore of a lake with the funny name Utozero. In general, in Karelia you will come across many different funny names. The only problem is that it’s hard to remember them in order to tell someone later.
In the evening in Petrozavodsk it’s nice to walk along the embankment, it’s very interesting there. There is a Ferris wheel, various art objects and a very long string of sports equipment. I enjoyed riding on the Ferris wheel, especially since I don’t have a drone, where else can I get footage from the top shooting point)
Refills. If you follow my route, I highly recommend refueling at Lodeynoye Pole. On the bypass road in front of the traffic police post there is a Surgutneftegaz gas station. Further to Petrozavodsk there will be only gas stations, the appearance of which does not inspire any confidence. There are no problems with gas stations in Petrozavodsk, and you definitely need to refuel there. Actually, there is another Rosneft there, but it is located away from the highway and for its sake you have to go several kilometers away from the highway.
**************************************************************************************************************************************************** DAY 2. Petrozavodsk - Medvezhyegorsk, about 200 km. (directly 160 km, with inspection of Mount Sampo, Kivach waterfall and Girvas paleovolcano - 200 km).
Road quality : excellent asphalt on the highway. Roads to attractions are worse. What to see along the way : I’ll immediately note that all the attractions that I will name can be easily searched in the Yandex navigator, so I don’t see any point in giving any GPS coordinates. There were no particularly secret paths on my route.
So, the first thing that will be on the way from Petrozavodsk is Mount Sampo . Perhaps it was once a mountain with good visibility and beautiful views of the lake. Nowadays it is overgrown with fir trees and pine trees, on which tourists have hung rags and masks. If you go somewhere deeper, it’s probably beautiful there. If you just stop by and have a look, then you don’t have to stop by.
The next well-known village in the direction of travel is Kivach.
A tourist place with all the ensuing consequences. If you arrive in the morning, you can park on site for free. The later you arrive, the farther from the entrance you will park along the road. Although you will most likely be able to plug in the motorcycle at any time. The waterfall is beautiful, there is a museum and all sorts of entertainment for children, many different wooden tricks, such as a huge mosquito. I wouldn't stop by a second time.
Paleovolcano Girvas. Some kind of ancient volcano. At first it seems like nothing special. But if you sit on the stones, wander through the lava that solidified thousands of years ago, then you begin to understand that this place is not called a place of power for nothing. I don’t know how to explain it, you have to feel it. I definitely recommend checking it out. Sometimes I also release water from the dam. But I was unable to find out the frequency of water discharge. Who knows, write, I would go back there again.
I’m sure that on the way to Medvezhyegorsk there are some other interesting places that I don’t know about, so add them in the comments, it will be useful for everyone.
Housing in Medvezhyegorsk. There are few offers, so it is better to book in advance. My trip was spontaneous, the hotels were all occupied, and for a couple of thousand rubles booking offered only a “house with a stove.” That's what it's called there. It turned out to be a very good option, taking into account the fact that the motorcycle can be driven directly into the yard and the gate closed. For some reason I thought that the entire house was for rent, but essentially it’s a hostel, and you only get a bed. But for an overnight stay it’s a good option.
Gas stations: Regardless of the queue, and there will be queues, in Medvezhyegorsk you MUST refuel at Rosneft. I thought that I would have enough gasoline to reach Vytegra (300 km), but the road there is so straight and good that the light began to blink already at Pudozh (190 km). In Pudozh there is also Rosneft, and there are also queues.
In Medvezhyegorsk itself, we only hung out on the neberezhnaya street, swam in the chilly August Onega and spent the night, but there is certainly something to see there too.
********************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************
DAY 3. Medvezhyegorsk - Vytegra, 300 km.
Condition of the road: - gorgeous asphalt, perhaps even better than it was before Medvezhyegorsk. There are many different turns, connections, and slides, so the ride is not boring. There are also straight lines where you can fall, but there are few cameras yet.
Embrace the immensity There are many different interesting places in this area, so don’t be like me and don’t hope that you will have time to see them all in one day. And the plan for the sights was as follows: Sandarmokh, Povenets, Cholmuzhi, Pyalma, Besov Nos and Andoma Mountain. Perhaps the most famous attraction on this side of Onega is the Demon's Nose with petroglyphs, which I did not see because daylight unexpectedly ended much earlier than the places I wanted to see. I had a route and a very strict schedule developed, but everything didn’t go according to plan from the first point, so let’s be realistic, ideally this section should be divided into two days with an overnight stay in Pudozh. I don’t practice spending the night in a tent, so I focus exclusively on settlements where you can rent housing.
What you can see along the way:
Literally 15 kilometers after Medvezhyegorsk you can stop by Sandarmokh. The place is gloomy. The place is hard. Place of mass executions of people. For those who can acutely feel someone else's pain, it may be difficult to stay positive. So it's up to you whether you stop by or not.
Next, after 11 km, the town of Povenets. and the White Sea-Baltic Canal . In Povenets itself there is a museum “Museum of the History of the White Sea-Baltic Waterway”. It is located in the administration building, and Yandex navigator leads to it without any problems. This museum is from the category of those provincial museums that work or do not work depending on the employment of their only employee. “She left,” they answered when I asked if the museum was open. But you shouldn’t despair; in Povenets you can see a beautiful church with an unusual foundation and the very beginning of the White Sea-Baltic Canal. You can even take a short drive along the canal. Beautiful views, I recommend stopping by.
Next we fly 55 kilometers and turn into the village of Chelmuzhi . The Internet promised a beautiful church on the shore and it really is there. But in addition, from there you can drive to the Chelmuzhskaya Spit. A chic place to relax, where you need to hang out with a tent for several days, which is what many do. The road to the spit is forest, dirt, about 10 kilometers, you can ride on any motorcycle, it’s just a matter of time and comfort. I'm not exactly an endurist, but I like riding while standing on the pegs. The spit itself is sandy, and there is no way to get there on a road motorcycle. Only on foot. And this is the case when you don’t have your own sticker yet
After another 26 kilometers, I recommend stopping by the village of Pyalma to enjoy the colorful wooden buildings and tickle your nerves on a bridge without a fence. By the way, on the way from Medvezhyegorsk there will be another turn to Pyalma, but this is not ours. We need the second one. And when you enter into the navigator, make sure that the route is to the Chapel of Elijah the Prophet.
Despite the fact that all these attractions are quite close to each other, we left Pyalma in the late afternoon, so Besov Nose and Andoma Mountain were left for the next trip. That’s why I actually recommend adding one more day. A trip to the Devil's Nose is a separate expedition, involving a search for a boatman who will take you to the Petroglyphs along the river. Not everyone can ride a motorcycle there, judging by the reports of other travelers. Driving at a fairly high speed led to higher consumption, so we had to refuel in Pudozh and drive to Vytegra in the dark.
Accommodation in Vytegra : It seemed to me that accommodation in Vytegra was easier than in Medvezhyegorsk, although I did not have time to book a room in the hotel “with a lighthouse”, but I really wanted to, but overall the choice of rooms was good. As a result, I booked the Vytegra Hotel. By the way, it’s a very decent hotel, with clean rooms, I can confidently recommend it. I was especially pleased with the presence of Pyaterochka on the ground floor and a separate conditionally guarded (camera) parking within walking distance. I put the coin down, went into Pyaterochka, filled my helmet with some goodies and went to my room. Beauty.
I’ll leave the most exciting part of the journey for the next part. For those who can't wait, watch the third part of the video. There will also be a continuation here in the near future.
