Sterlitamak is a large oil refining complex
Sterlitamak is the second large Bashkir city after Ufa. Although it lags far behind it in terms of the number of inhabitants. Only 280,000 people live here. It is located on the banks of the Belaya River. Together with the nearest settlements of Salavat and Ishimbay, Sterlitamak forms a vast agglomeration with a population of 600,000 people. It is a city with good infrastructure, a fairly strong economy and is gradually turning into a metropolis. It is expanding at an accelerated pace. New areas with high-rise buildings are appearing. The influx of workers is provided by large petrochemical enterprises. The Bashkir soda company occupies a leading position in the production of caustic soda, PVC, and cable plastic compounds. Most of the townspeople are employed in factories such as:
- machine tool plant;
- car repair;
- "Shihan" (branch of the Heineken brewing company).
Sterlitamak is connected to other cities by a network of railways and bus routes. Public transport is represented by buses, trolleybuses, and minibuses. The routes are constantly being expanded, as there are traffic jams on the roads during peak hours. Due to the large number of cars on the streets of Sterlitamak, a deterioration in the environmental situation has previously been observed. The city authorities have adopted programs for landscaping the area. After this, Sterlitamak repeatedly received the status of the most comfortable city in Russia. It moved from the list of polluted cities to the number of green and clean cities in the Russian Federation.

Ufa is the most populated city in Bashkiria
The capital of the Republic of Bashkortostan is one of the ten most comfortable and promising cities in our country. Ufa is the most spacious metropolis. For each resident there is almost 700 sq. m of space. The population density here is significantly higher than the average for the entire region. By the way, the word “Ufa” in Bashkir spelling resembles three circles crossed out by lines and looks like this ӨФӨ. Because of the appearance of the letters, the local train station and airport were jokingly called “Three Screws” or “Three Pills.”
At the end of 2022, the capital of Bashkiria ranked eighth in the population ranking among 13 Russian cities with a population of over a million.
Ufa twice took second place in the nomination for the title of the best Russian city for business.
Salavat - good prospects
Salavat is part of the large South Bashkir agglomeration. It has strong economic potential. At the moment, the number of citizens is 153,000 people. According to experts, this figure will increase, as there is a positive dynamics of population growth. The national composition is distributed as follows: Russians: 55%, Tatars: 20%, Bashkirs: 18%.
The basis of Salavat's economy is made up of chemical and oil refining enterprises. The only Russian rocket fuel production plant is located here. The oil refining complex is closely connected with oil and gas fields of nearby settlements (Sterlitamak, Ishimbay, Arlan). Salavat attracts not only workers, but also students. There are 26 educational institutions, including: industrial, pedagogical, medical, and music colleges. Many young people enter the faculties of the Salavat Institute of Humanities, a branch of the Moscow University of Economics, and the Institute of Economics and Management.
Coat of arms
The coat of arms of Salavat is presented in the form of a French shield. A galloping horseman with his arms raised is depicted on an azure background. A whip is tied to his left wrist. The rider is accompanied by a falcon flying below. The bird touches the horse's belly with its wing, and the abstract ground with its tail. At the top, on the left, on a rectangular green area, is a kurai flower with seven petals. The animal, bird, man and flower are made of gold. In the upper right corner (in the silver field) there is an azure ball with three rays extending downwards.
The artistic composition was approved by decision of the Council of the urban district of Salavat of the Republic of Bashkortostan No. 23-12 dated June 16, 2000. Included in the State Heraldic Register of the Russian Federation under No. 661.
What do residents of the Salavat Kupere residential complex complain about and what are they happy with?
KV correspondents asked about how people live in the “rainbow” microdistrict now.
Minuses
Most Salavat residents complain about bad roads. The lack of timely repairs forces drivers to avoid numerous potholes and potholes.
The insufficient level of development of the road network leads to constant traffic jams and congestion. Local residents are particularly dissatisfied with the street. Nurihan Fattah. “You have to spend 1.5 - 2 hours on traffic jams,” they shrug their shoulders. “Everyone has to go to work, hundreds of cars line up here every day.”
The courtyards here turn into parking lots. Some motorists park in the green zone and drive onto the curbs. The result is quite sad: pedestrians cannot pass, and drivers cannot leave. “There are long trucks parked everywhere. Apparently, apartments in Salavat Cooper are in demand among truckers,” says one of the residents of the microdistrict. “As heavy trucks park across the parking lot, there won’t be a single free space left.”
Local residents claim that public transport is very rare. Especially in the morning. “If you didn’t catch the bus before 7.30, you’ll have to wait for the next one, which will appear no earlier than 9 o’clock,” complains a woman living in the microdistrict. Among other things, Kazan residents are upset by the lack of buses going to the city center. You need to travel with a transfer, and this takes money and time.
But it is especially difficult for families with children. The only general education institution, Salavat Kupere, is severely overloaded. It’s also impossible to get into the music school located in Osinovo: there’s a big competition. “We’re taking the kids to Yudino,” the mother of two gets upset. — We are very afraid of bad weather. I don’t want to go outside, but I still have to get to school!”
There were also complaints about the poor accessibility of medical services. “There is not a single dental office nearby,” residents complain.
By the way, flocks of stray dogs were spotted running around among the high-rise buildings. Many animals have tags on their ears. This means that the tailed animals have been sterilized and treated for rabies. However, it is not safe to walk here alone in the dark.
pros
Perhaps the main advantage of Salavat Cooper is that the residential complex can safely be called a city within a city. Here everyone has the opportunity to have a good time and enjoy the tranquility. “Beautiful and bright houses, no one is in a hurry,” “Lots of playgrounds,” “Quiet and cozy,” local residents note. And of course, one cannot help but pay attention to the charm of the surrounding nature. “When we enter Kazan, there is no desire to look at the gray asphalt and high-rise buildings blocking the sky,” smiles a resident of the “rainbow” microdistrict with six months of experience. — And from our 15th floor there is such a view! Just an extraordinary landscape!”
Here, young mothers with strollers leisurely walk along the streets, and local children play in the courtyards.
Many different shops, all within walking distance. There is no need to go shopping to the center of Kazan or to the market: you can buy everything you need within the microdistrict.
And of course, we should not forget about the affordability of housing in Salavat Cooper. Spacious apartments with a good layout are an ideal option for young families and those who are thinking about a mortgage.
It's only begining
As reported by the mayor's office of Kazan, in the Salavat Kuper residential complex it is planned to build 20 kindergartens, 6 schools, a large clinic and four branches, an ambulance station, three communications departments, four law enforcement points, a specialized fire rescue unit, a children's dairy kitchen, a sports complex, 9 fitness clubs, several cultural and leisure centers, two cinemas, 8 multi-level parking lots and many public and business facilities.
The main street will be reconstructed. Zalesnaya with the construction of an interchange at the intersection with the street. Osinovskaya. For residents of the residential complex, a highway will be built along the banks of the Volga (Arakchinskoye Highway). The master plan also provides for the launch of the tram line “Microdistrict “Salavat Kupere” - st. Nesmelov" and reconstruction of the highway from the street. Nurihan Fattah to st. Tetsevskaya with the continuation of the construction of a new road parallel to the street. Tetsevskaya. The possibility of installing a metrobus line is being discussed.
In 2022, construction of the first stage of the park in the Salavat Kuper residential complex should begin. Currently, work is underway to create a green zone project.
As for the facilities already under construction, two pre-school educational institutions with 260 places each are being built in blocks 7 and 8. The estimated opening date for kindergartens is the end of 2022. Among other things, by the beginning of the next academic year a secondary school with 1,224 places will be opened in Quarter 4.
The issue of constructing a general education institution for 1,224 places and a pre-school educational organization for 260 places in the 3rd quarter of the Salavat Kupere residential complex is being considered.
Currently, more than 50 consumer market and service enterprises, including 37 trade enterprises, are already operating in the Salavat Kuper residential complex. It is proposed to familiarize yourself with the planning solution of the residential area “Salavat Kupere” in more detail on the subportal of the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning of the city of Kazan in the “Urban Planning” section.
Story
The history of Salavat begins in the twentieth century. The date of its foundation is considered to be June 30, 1948. It received its name in honor of the poet, the Bashkir national hero. An oil refinery is being built here using prisoners and prisoners of war. Soon a number of large enterprises appeared in it: a woodworking plant, a brick factory, and infrastructure facilities.
On June 12, 1954, it changed its status from a village to a city. Housing stock, educational institutions, and tram lines are being built there. The railway station opens. The combined heat and power plant supplies energy to local consumers.
In 1967, the first panel and multi-storey buildings were delivered. Optical instruments and dual-use products are produced. As part of the Russian Federation, the social sphere turns out to be dependent on the well-being of city-forming companies.
Working population
According to statistics for 2022, the Republic of Bashkortostan has more than 2.3 million working-age population. Moreover, there are more working women than men.
As of January 1 of last year, the demographic burden throughout the country was 818 people per 1,000 people of working age, including 340 children and adolescents and 478 pensioners. In Bashkiria, these indicators showed the following: the total demographic burden is 840, of which 376 are children and teenagers and 464 people over working age.
As for the age composition of the population of Bashkiria, as of January 1, 2022, the average was 39.2 years, of which men – 36.8 years, women – 41.4 years.
Russian billion: The population census turned out to be another fake
On February 9, 1897, 125 years ago, the first general population census took place in the Russian Empire. Prior to this, the state was limited to administrative and police records, that is, it derived numbers practically “from scratch.” Today, in the 21st century, the Russian authorities have returned to the vicious practice of autocracy; no one believes the data from 2022.
Then, a century and a quarter ago, there were 125.7 million people in the Russian Federation “without the Grand Duchy of Finland outside Helsingfors.” Finland was part of the state, but had a special status, which soon backfired. Helsingfors seemed to have a special status, primarily because there was a large naval base there.
1.26 million people lived in St. Petersburg, 1.04 million people lived in Moscow, Warsaw was in third place with 684 thousand people. Odessa, with a large lag, held fourth place - 400 thousand people.
Russians in total accounted for 66.4%, of which Great Russians - 44.3%, Little Russians - 17.8%, Belarusians - 4.3%.
77.5% peasants, 10.7% burghers, which included workers. But these were clearly less than 5%, since 86.6% of the population lived outside the cities. 74.57% of the people worked in agriculture, and only 7.82% worked in manufacturing. However, the latter category also included workers of numerous creameries, distilleries and other enterprises connected to the village and located there. Thus, the number of urban factory workers can be reduced to 3−4%. Unfortunately, there is no such detail in the census.
