Ski resort "Dynamo"
Here begins the “Health Trail” - a 25 km long trail running along the Barnaul Forest. This is a great place for sports. Citizens come to the ski resort in the summer to ride bicycles, run in the fresh air, and practice Nordic walking. Competitions and contests with prize drawings are often held here. In the first month of summer, the rains will no longer be so heavy, the air will warm up to 20°C, and crowds of tourists will not yet have time to trample all the flowering meadows in search of the best panorama for filming. But in July and August it is worth stocking up on a larger budget. At this time, prices for vacations almost double, but the warmth will allow you to swim in local lakes and explore natural attractions. If you decide to go in the fall, you should stock up on warm clothes and avoid spending the night in a tent.
Park "Forest Fairy Tale"
The main place of attraction in “Forest Tale” is the Barnaul Zoo. This is a favorite vacation spot for children and adults. The pride of the zoo is the Amur tigers. Also in the enclosures you can see the Far Eastern leopard, emu, mouflon, foxes, Javan macaques, flamingos, porcupines, bears and other species of animals. The park is open daily.
According to visitors, the best time to visit the zoo is from 15:00 to 16:00, when staff feed the predators.
There is also an amusement area in the Forest Fairy Tale.
What to see in Barnaul in 1 day
Among the places that are worth visiting if you don’t have much time, you should note the historical center with pre-revolutionary and Soviet architecture, and city theaters. You can easily purchase a ticket online and go to the show after sightseeing.
Demidovskaya Square
One of the oldest squares in the historical center of the city. Its architectural ensemble took shape by the middle of the 19th century. The central element is the Demidov pillar, 14 meters high. The construction of this monument lasted 14 years, from 1825 to 1839, and the Rumyantsev Obelisk in St. Petersburg served as a model.
Around it there are other architectural monuments of the 19th century - the building of the mining school and the Church of St. Dmitry of Rostov, built in 1829-1840. and originally had the shape of a rotunda. The building of the mining school became the first example of the eclectic style in Barnaul. Its construction was completed in 1861.

Polzunova Street
One of the most interesting attractions for tourists. It is fascinating to walk along it and study the urban architecture of the Soviet and pre-revolutionary years. The southern part reaches the bank of the Barnaulka River, and the northern part reaches the Museum of Literature, Art and Culture of Altai not far from the bank of the Ob River and the Altai River Fleet building. First of all, it is worth walking from the intersection with Lenin Street from house 34 to 56. For example, house 56 is a beautiful wooden tower, the former estate of the city mayor at the beginning of the 20th century. House 41 is interesting because in the 1760s the inventor of the steam engine, Ivan Polzunov, worked there. Before the revolution, the building served as the office of the Kolyvano-Voskresensky plant.

House under the spire
One of the symbols of the city and one of the most interesting attractions for tourists. The building was built in the mid-1950s in the style of Stalinist neoclassicism. There are shops on the ground floor, and the building is crowned by a clock tower and a 15-meter pointed spire with a weather vane. The height of the building is 46 meters. The house is mentioned in the poem “Barnaul” and in the song “In Barnaul there are maples and green poplars.” Because of the lighting, the building looks beautiful in the dark.

Intercession Cathedral
Since 1863, a wooden Church of the Intercession stood on this site. The stone cathedral in pseudo-Russian style was built in 1898-1904. At the beginning of the 20th century, the area was one of the poorest in the city. It is noteworthy that the interiors of the temple were created in the first years of Soviet power. The main focus for them was the religious subjects of paintings by Mikhail Nesterov and Viktor Vasnetsov. The cathedral was closed for a short period - from 1939 to 1943. During the war, the authorities opened it to believers, so it became a cathedral.

Altai Regional Drama Theater
In Barnaul, you should definitely visit the oldest theater in Altai and one of the largest theaters in Western Siberia, named after the writer V. M. Shukshin. The facility has existed since 1921, but the building on Molodezhnaya was built in the early 1970s. Capacity - over 700 seats. The roof of the building is decorated with sculptures of the acting couple, and there is a small museum inside. The repertoire includes 38 performances.

Altai State Youth Theater
It has existed since 1958, and the building was built a little earlier, in 1937, in the style of Stalinist classicism with Art Deco elements. "Edelweiss"
This is one of the most popular parks in the city, where the UFO swing has become the most visited attraction. Their cabin is made in the form of a flying saucer.
Edelweiss has a large indoor racing track, a karting track and a large stage area, a shooting range, and a rope park. There are carousels and trampolines for little kids.
There are several cafeterias in the park with different menus. Here you can walk along picturesque alleys with beautiful flower beds.
"Sunny wind"

Guests of the city should definitely visit the oldest museum in the Asian part of Russia, which will celebrate its 200th anniversary in 2023. In the 19th century, among the visitors were famous scientists - Alexander Humboldt and Pyotr Semenov-Tyan-Shansky. In 1913, by decree of Emperor Nicholas II, the building of a chemical laboratory was transferred for exhibits. Nagorny Park
Near the new bridge on the banks of the Ob River the name of the city is written in large white letters. It is located in Nagorny Park next to the embankment and observation deck. What Barnaul is famous for is one of the oldest planetariums in the country. The building of the former Church of the Exaltation of the Cross was adapted for it. Its construction dates back to the beginning of the 20th century, but it was not used for long as a religious object. Since 1932, the church building was used as a library, and in 1950 a planetarium was opened. It is the sixth oldest of 25 similar objects in Russia. The halls are used to host various exhibitions, for example, dedicated to the Siberian cosmonaut German Titov.

Nagorny Park

Altai Museum of Local Lore

There are quite a lot of monuments in the city. Among them is a monument to Viktor Tsoi, a life-size T-34 tank and a beautiful memorial to settlers in Altai. On the way, you can look at the architecture of the famous convent, the Znamensky Church and the Church of St. Seraphim of Sarov.
The architecture of the city is strongly reminiscent of the streets of St. Petersburg. Therefore, a walk along the cozy streets will bring a lot of positive emotions. For those who come with children, another attraction will help to take their mind off historical values – a large-scale zoo. It features predators, primates, ungulates and birds. In addition, a contact department with pets was built on its basis. The ostrich farm will bring even more emotions - here you can feed the birds directly from your hands, ride a donkey, and communicate with its affectionate and friendly inhabitants.
Ob embankment
The embankment is connected by a wide staircase to Nagorny Park. You can climb along it to the giant letters “Barnaul”.
Here you can relax, admire the Ob River and the panorama of the city. There is a cafe, benches, shade canopies, lanterns and flowerpots. Festive events are also held on the embankment. Nearby is the River Station, where you can book a boat trip.

Alexey Smertin Sports Park
The name of the park speaks for itself: you can practice various sports here, from volleyball to workout.
