Summer vacation is very important, especially when children appear in the family. The child benefits from the maritime climate, the southern sun helps to stock up on vitamin D for the whole year, the air is rich in oxygen, particles of sea salts and iodine ions. Adults also need a change of scenery, to go beyond the boundaries of dull workdays and get a lot of pleasant impressions. In order for the memories of your summer vacation to be truly positive, you need to think through the travel route in advance, calculate the cost, plan excursions and entertainment.
More and more of our compatriots are choosing resorts in the Krasnodar Territory and Crimea for summer and winter holidays. This article provides practical advice to families who are planning to vacation in Sochi with children. Where is the infrastructure better developed, what are the prices in local shops and cafes, where to go and what to see?

The city stretches for 105 km along the seashore, as mountains prevent it from growing deeper. The entire coastline belongs to Greater Sochi. Contrary to popular belief, Adler, Khosta, Lazarevskoye, Krasnaya Polyana and other resorts belong to the city. And what we used to call Sochi is the Central District. There are four of them: Lazarevsky, Central, Khostinsky and Adlersky. Before choosing where you can relax in Sochi with children, you need to familiarize yourself with the different offers - not all areas of the city are equally good.
Plein air - painting a picture with your own hands
For creative, inquisitive schoolchildren and their parents, we recommend purchasing an individual 2-hour excursion “Plein air - painting a picture with your own hands” (2,500 rubles per person). Together with an artist guide, you will go to the most picturesque corner of Sochi, where you will begin creating a painting.
You will return home with your painting - a reminder of a wonderful holiday on the Black Sea coast.
Your qualified mentor will tell you about all the intricacies of creating a canvas, give you a personal sketchbook and a comfortable chair. Even those who have never held a brush before will enjoy the tour! At the end of the excursion, you are guaranteed to have a memento that reminds you of a wonderful holiday on the Black Sea coast - a picture drawn with your own hand.
Schedule an original program for Monday or Friday at 16:00.
Lazarevsky district
This part of the resort town is farthest from the airport. In terms of accessibility, it is not a very convenient area, but the clean sea and inexpensive housing more than compensate for these inconveniences. The beach in Lazarevskoye is pebble, the proximity of the mountains makes the air unique in composition, which is why families with children love to stay here. The area lives by tourism, its infrastructure is constantly growing and developing: new boarding houses, playgrounds, water parks and entertainment centers are springing up.

Lazarevsky is an excellent area of Sochi, where it is better to relax with children. Everyone will find something to do and have fun to their liking.
SEC Mandarin
In which area of Sochi is it better to relax for those who like to go shopping and return home with a mountain of new things? Of course, in Adler. Turn your shopping into an unforgettable trip! While you walk through the shopping center, you will have time to enjoy the unforgettable views that open from the large panoramic windows. We think you will also appreciate the trees and plants that grow on the territory. There are even several statues here. It's like it's not a shopping center, but a museum of modern art!
Near the center there are singing fountains, which are illuminated in different colors in the evening. It feels like they are dancing to music. Benches were built near the fountains so that you always have somewhere to sit and relax after exhausting shopping.
The Mandarin has five floors, all of which can be easily climbed. Some of them are given over to restaurants and cafes, and they, in turn, also differ in cuisine from each other. There you can find fast food typical of shopping centers, a pizzeria, and a place where they can make you sushi and rolls. You definitely won't remain hungry. Other floors were given over by the owners for children's entertainment complexes, cinemas, and rooms with slot machines. Of course, most of it, as expected, is occupied by shops. You can choose exclusive clothes, accessories, cosmetics and even furniture if you try hard. By the way, Adler constantly offers crazy discounts that will make you absolutely delighted.
Khostinsky district
This area of Sochi is famous for its nature. There are many balneological resorts and medical institutions in Khosta; medical tourism is developed here. Relict forests, unique topography and clean air attract many. The area starts from the Kudepsta River and ends with the Vereshchaginskaya Valley. The temperature in Khosta is always a couple of degrees higher than in the center of Sochi. These places seem to be specially created for sanatorium treatment; there are even a record number of sunny days here - 280 per year. When is the best time to go to Sochi with children? In Khost you decide when to come; the season here lasts from February to November. It is not surprising that the Institute of Balneology and Physiotherapy is located in the Khostinsky district.
Excursions, attractions and entertainment are available. In addition to cinemas, museums, discos, bars and restaurants in the Khostinsky district there is the Sochi National Park with Eagle Rocks, Mount Akhun, yew-boxwood groves and Vorontsov Caves. The arboretum, divided into two zones, delights with ponds, magnolia alleys and other exotic plants.
Touching zoo
We can guess what picture you managed to imagine in your head when you heard the phrase “touching zoo.” Do you think about the poor, destitute animals that you can’t even look at without tears in your eyes? Not at all. It’s just that in this place you can not only gently pet the animals, but also hold them in your arms. They are not aggressive at all and love people, their attention and affection.
Small animals are collected in this place. But this does not mean that it is not interesting to spend time with them. Visitors are fascinated by cute rabbits and hares. They laugh sincerely at the funny budgies who play happily with a bell and are frightened by their own reflection in a small wall mirror. The main favorite was and will always remain the fat raccoon. He simply basks in the rays of fame and affection, behaves like an arrogant star. Well, what can you do, everyone’s favorite! Come see the spoiled handsome guy and other equally attractive inhabitants.
Adlersky district
There is an airport, Olympic venues, Krasnaya Polyana, an amusement park, an aquarium and many water parks here. The district includes the following microdistricts: Nizhneimeretinskaya Bay, Krasnopolyansky settlement district, Cheryomushki, Central Adler, Golubye Dali and Kurortny Gorodok. Looking for a place to relax with children in winter? In Sochi, in the Adler region. You can go skiing in Krasnaya Polyana, but it’s better not to stay there. In Adler, the cost of housing is much lower, and you can get to the ski resort by Lastochka or by transfer, which is available in almost all hotels.

Recently, a convenient pedestrian embankment appeared here, where children are not threatened by transport - you can run or ride a scooter in the evening. Mothers with strollers also appreciate the local embankment.

central District
Historical part of Greater Sochi. It is divided into several microdistricts, but not all of them have access to the sea. When choosing where to inexpensively relax with children in Sochi, you need to pay attention to the location of the accommodation. You can access the beach from New Sochi, Mamaika, Svetlana, Central and Jan Fabricius. But KSM, Hospital Town, Makarenko, Vishnevka, Donskaya, Areda, Zavokzalny, Sobolevka, Maly Ruchey are located at a distance from the coastline.
To get to the beach, you will have to cross one or two more microdistricts. It is better to choose a place in Sochi where you can relax with your children in the summer without long walks in the sun. There is no sharp change in relief, the terrain is very convenient, all objects are within walking distance. Attractions such as the Winter Theatre, Sea Port, train station, art museum, Riviera Park, Sochi Arboretum and the Bocharov Ruchei residence are located here. This is a modern, comfortable area of Sochi, where it is better to relax with children.
Leonardo da Vinci Museum
No less interesting for the children will be a visit to the Leonardo da Vinci Museum, which is located in the same building as the Tesla Museum. But if Nikola Tesla was the master of electricity, then Leonardo da Vinci is a brilliant mechanic whose discoveries were several centuries ahead of their time.
The exhibition is presented by the developments and models of the author himself. The best part is that here, unlike most museums, you can touch all the exhibits and check them in action. Of course, there are also copies of world-famous artistic paintings. Erudite and knowledgeable guides will tell you in the most accessible form about the life of the great Raphael and his inventions
Accommodation in Sochi districts
The choice of housing depends on several factors:
- Budget. The class of available housing depends on how much tourists are willing to pay per day.
- Nutrition. If there is one or more small children in the family, it will be tiresome for the mother to look for a cafe or canteen every time to have lunch. Cooking yourself while holding a baby is also not very convenient. For such cases, there are sanatoriums and boarding houses. For families with older children who love excursions, hiking and active recreation, hotels and guest houses without meals are suitable. You can walk around the city or swim, and have lunch and dinner each time in different places without reference to time.
- Proximity to the sea. The further you go, the cheaper it is, but in pursuit of low housing costs you need to rely on your strengths. Families with children are not recommended to settle far from the shore - the road to the beach and back is too tiring.
- Boarding house: hotel with full maintenance. Many people confuse a boarding house with a sanatorium. Indeed, these two institutions are very similar: there is a regime, meals three to five times a day, a recreation area with a children's playground, and often a private beach. A boarding house differs from a sanatorium in the absence of a profile and mandatory treatment, although there should be a general practitioner in such an institution. You need to pay separately for a health program in a boarding house, but in a sanatorium a course of treatment is included in the price of the voucher. Where to go on vacation in Sochi with a child? If the child is small, definitely go to a boarding house. Parents will definitely be able to relax, and the child will be safe. The absence of everyday problems during a long-awaited vacation is a big plus. The cost of a trip starts from one and a half thousand rubles per day.
- A sanatorium differs from a boarding house in its specialized treatment. The staff necessarily includes doctors of various specializations - from a gastroenterologist to an ophthalmologist. The rest is the same boarding house.
- The hotel is perfect for families with children of preschool and school age. You can stay in your room only at night, and spend the whole day walking around the city: sunbathing on the beach, exploring local attractions, having lunch at local cafes and trying hot kebab on the open veranda of a cozy restaurant. No one will lecture you about your absence from procedures.
- A guest house or hostel is the same as a hotel, but a lower class, which means cheaper. Suitable for those who want to relax with children inexpensively. In Sochi, where the coastline is more than a hundred kilometers long, it is not difficult to find housing of this level.
- Rooms in the private sector. They were incredibly in demand when our parents were young. The only thing more popular was probably the savages' holiday in tents, as in the film "Three Plus Two" with Andrei Mironov in the title role. As a rule, local residents build small panel houses on their plots for vacationers. Rarely - with amenities, usually an outdoor toilet, and a summer shower with rainwater. Nowadays, this type of housing is gradually becoming a thing of the past. Prices in any hostel are similar or lower, and the level of service is higher. The choice is obvious.
- Camping. This type of holiday is popular not only among young romantics. Both pensioners and families with children of different ages love to live in a tent with a fire and a guitar. Owners of campsites build gazebos with barbecues and sheds on the coast, which they rent to everyone on a daily basis. To pitch a tent on the campsite, you need to pay for a space. Parking is also available for a fee. Where is the best place to relax with children in Sochi, you need to decide for yourself, based on the tastes and habits of the family.

When is the best time to go to Sochi on vacation with children? This resort town is suitable for relaxation at any time of the year, it all depends on your goals. You can get acquainted with the culture, cuisine and sights of Sochi at any time. It is better to swim in the sea and sunbathe under the warm southern sun from May to mid-October; skiing is better in the winter months - in December, January and February. There is almost no snow in Sochi, but strong gusty winds make walking along the embankment uncomfortable. Winter in the Krasnodar region is +9...+10 degrees Celsius, and the water temperature rarely drops below +10 degrees. At the end of winter, mimosa begins to bloom, and with the arrival of March, the spring sun shines with all its might.
When is the best time to go?
In June it is warm in Sochi, but the water is a little cool, usually around +22°C, and sometimes it rains. Reviews
Where to relax in Sochi with children? Experienced tourists who are vacationing more than once and have visited different areas cannot definitely say where is better. Some are in love with Loo and only vacation there, some like the Khosta sanatorium, and some cannot live without the nightclubs of the Central District.
In every corner of the resort there are cozy places that you want to return to. There is only one piece of advice: you need to select an area taking into account the cost of housing, infrastructure development and the age of the children.
Source
Arboretum
Take a ride on the cable car, admire the surroundings of the entire Sochi from its top point, and then, slowly descending the mountain slope, see how diverse the flora of the subtropics is. All this can be done at the local arboretum.
The territory of the arboretum occupies about 50 hectares, so even with a strong desire to get around it, it is unlikely to be possible in 1 day. But even if you set aside 2–3 hours, you can easily see the most interesting places in this park with your children. More details ->>>
Interesting quests for children
For a change, you should choose a gloomy day, not suitable for walking or swimming, and go to the realm of virtual reality.
"Mental exercise"
The quest lasts an hour, played in a team. The plot is based on finding a solution to restore life after a disaster.
The ticket price depends on the program and the number of participants.
Quest Cafe
Guests will find riddles, traps and celebration after brilliantly completed tasks. And also free tea and pleasant company.
Price: from 1400 rub.
"Other games"
An exciting plot and amazing adventures await those who dare to travel through times and worlds. The duration of the games is from 1 hour.
Participation price: from 2500 rub.
"QuestMagic"
You can choose from themes of witchcraft, travel, and searching for enchanted artifacts. The most popular story is Harry Potter.
Participation price: from 3000 rub.
Luna Park
It seems that every corner of Sochi has its own amusement park. In fact, this is the right decision, because the influx of visitors is terribly large. Even with such a large number of entertainment venues in the city, long queues form.
This park is ideal for young children. There are trains and carousels, trampolines and slides. If in regular parks you were worried about the safety of your child, then in this place you can stop worrying about it. Everything here has a very low height and low movement speed. All attractions are brightly colored to delight the child's eyes.
Waterpark "Galaxy"
There is no photo, but there is a video.
Another option for swimming entertainment. The Galaxy water park is located in the mountains - to be more precise, not far from Krasnaya Polyana, at the Gazprom resort. This means that right from the open-air pool there is a magnificent view: mountains and clouds clinging to snow-capped peaks.
Two swimming pools are open to visitors: indoor and outdoor, a sauna, a jacuzzi and a lazy river. The only caveat is that due to current COVID restrictions you cannot get on the attractions. However, this does not make the water park any less interesting - first of all, people come here for the views.
Prices and address
Tickets to the water park can be purchased online. The three-hour rate includes:
- Visit to both swimming pools;
- Sauna and hammam;
- Use of lockers and changing cabins.
An adult ticket costs 1,600 rubles, a child ticket (from five to nine years old) - 1,400 rubles. Children under five years old enter the water park for free. For an additional amount, you can receive towels and a robe if necessary.
Address: Gazprom resort, entertainment, Achipsinskaya street, 12. Go to the first floor - the entrance to the water park is located to the left of the information center.
Accommodation.
As for placement, you can choose:
sanatorium is the most expensive type of accommodation, usually has accommodation buildings and a medical building, a territory, a dining room, a private beach, the average price is 4000-5000 rubles. per person per day;- a hotel is usually cheaper than a sanatorium, has a building with several floors and a swimming pool, provides breakfast in its own restaurant, lunch and dinner - for an additional fee, about 3000-4000 rubles. per room;
- mini-hotel - the most popular accommodation option, optimal in terms of price-quality ratio - are two-three-story houses with several rooms, often with their own kitchens or one common for all guests, usually costs 2500-3500 rubles. per room;
- the private sector is the most inexpensive accommodation option with minimal amenities, often even without a bathroom in the room, prices start from 800 rubles. per room.
Which accommodation option is the best? Of course, with small children it is preferable to choose one of the first three options, which will provide the necessary comfort. We really liked using the Biglion service, here we were constantly able to find offers from mini-hotels with discounts of up to 60%, everything works great, we checked it ourselves, so use it with pleasure!
House of Jam
The smell of ripe plums. Heavy, sun-drenched figs. Honey apricots. Perhaps this is how one can imagine the taste of southern summer. The best place to talk about this is the “House of Jam” in Vardan. Here they know a lot about how to roll local endemics into jars.
The jam here is made exclusively from fruits and berries that are associated with Sochi. Prepare separately and mix. For example, they combine feijoa with lemon.
“House of Jam” is a unique gastronomic location and a full-fledged recreational complex. And the first thing guests of this place do when they get inside is take out their phones and start taking pictures. This means great photos for Instagram are also guaranteed.
So, if you have time, it’s definitely worth a look here.
How to get there
At first glance it seems that it is a bit far to go here. But in reality everything is much simpler, and this little trip is definitely worth it. The most convenient option is to travel from Sochi or Adler by train to Vardane station. Walking from the station to the “House of Jam” is no more than 15 minutes.
Address
: Vardane village, Lvovskaya street, 9/3.
"Dino Club"
Tell me, have you met dinosaurs? No, this is not a rhetorical question. You can easily see the ancient inhabitants of the Earth at the Dino Club in Sochi.
Robotic dinosaurs live here. Development engineers tried to bring mechanical lizards closer to real prototypes, giving them voices and the ability to move. So, welcome to the Mesozoic.
- How to make your trip here as educational and productive as possible?
- Join the excursion. Yes, adults too. The guides will talk about the life of dinosaurs, share interesting facts and answer questions.
- Complete a dino quest in virtual reality. If you wanted to try yourself in the role of a desperate scientist and save dinosaurs from extinction, this is your chance.
- Be sure to take a photo. Otherwise, no one will believe that you met a tyrannosaurus.
How to get there
Dino Club is based in the Olympic Park. To avoid getting lost, enter from Mezhdunarodnaya Street.
It is best to check prices at the checkout - the cost of visiting the Dino Club depends on the age and number of guests, as well as the duration of the quest (it is paid separately).
Address:
Sochi, Mezhdunarodnaya street, 12.
