Gornozavodsk

K: Settlements founded in 1947
Gornozavodsk

- a city in Russia, the easternmost city of the Perm Territory, the administrative center of the Gornozavodsky district. It has the status of an urban settlement. Population - 11,511[1] people. (2016).

By Order of the Government of the Russian Federation dated July 29, 2014 No. 1398-r “On approval of the list of single-industry towns,” the Gornozavodskoye urban settlement is included in the category “Single-industry municipalities of the Russian Federation (monotowns), in which there are risks of deterioration of the socio-economic situation”[2].

Story

Until the mid-40s of the 20th century, there was a small railway station on the site of the modern city; a forest approached the station buildings closely. In 1947, construction of a cement plant began, the first stage of which has been operating since 1955. Along with the development of the plant, the village, called Novo-Pashiysky, also grew. In 1950 it was given the status of an urban settlement.

By 1965, the number of residents exceeded 9 thousand people.

On November 4, 1965, by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR, the working village of Novopashiysky was transformed into a city of regional subordination and given the name the city of Gornozavodsk. The same decree established the Gornozavodsky district with its center in the city of Gornozavodsk[3]

Natural attractions

Part of the territory of the Gornozavodsky district belongs to the Basegi historical and natural complex, which is protected by the state and is of regional importance.

Several species of plants listed in the Red Book grow on its territory. The reserve is also interesting for lovers of extreme recreation. River tourism offers rafting with varying levels of difficulty.

Mount Kolpaki

The height reaches 614 meters, and from the mountain there is a wonderful view of the surrounding area: hills, rivers, ridges and dense forests. It is considered one of the border points between Europe and Asia.

The caps are known for their quirky shape, which truly resembles those tall and pointed headdresses. The Rudnaya River originates here, which also attracts many tourists with its beauty and calm flow.

Rock "Holety Ribs"

On the right bank of the Chusovaya there is an amazing rock known as Holly Ribs. This is a monument of regional significance.

Tourists come here for the Royal Gate. Inside the stone, nature made a real arch through which you can walk. Relict plants grow nearby.

Pashiyskaya Cave

It was first mentioned back in 1891, but only in 1961 was it given the high status of a protected area.

The length of the cave is at least 500 meters, and underground rivers and lakes are ubiquitous along this route. The entrance is hidden at a height of about 30 meters, and then descends lower and lower. The cave is the largest in the entire Perm region.

Note! Bats live in the cave. They are not dangerous to humans if they are not disturbed, but they can be frightening if they appear unexpectedly.

Cave "Wonderwoman"

It is called a real underground fairy tale. The cave is located in the Kladovy Kamen mountain on the banks of the Ponysh River. It stretches for 512 m.

This is a whole gallery consisting of corridors ranging from 2 to 15 meters wide and 10-12 meters high. There are several grottoes in it: Hope, Shell, Devil and Vestibule. Along its entire length there are stalactites.

Note! The cave is branched, so when passing through it is worth using a map or taking an experienced guide with you.

Economy

The leading role in the structure of the city's economy is played by OJSC Gornozavodskcement, one of the first in the region to be transformed into an open joint-stock company. The key to the prosperity of the city is the successful operation and economic stability of the enterprise. The main products of the enterprise are Portland cement, high-grade alumina cement, gypsum stone, lime-cement binders, and wall materials. The company's products are in steady demand in Russia, the CIS countries and other countries.

The city also has a bakery (production of bakery and confectionery products). In the immediate vicinity of the city there are gas pipelines connecting the gas producing areas of the Tyumen region and the European part of Russia.

Reviews

Mikhail, 43 years old, Perm

At first I didn’t intend to go to Gornozavodsk, but now I say right away: take orientation there! A small but cozy city. Beautiful nature and many interesting monuments. I hope to be able to go fishing in the area someday. I recommend visiting!

Oleg, 28 years old, Ekaterinburg

We ended up in Gornozavodsk with my wife while passing through. We didn’t even expect that such a city could be on the edge of the region. Left a good impression. We were also lucky with the weather, and the route in the direction was good. We only had time to walk around the city itself, but we will definitely come for the nature.

Tatyana, 33 years old, Perm

You shouldn’t expect much from the city, but it still compares favorably with others in the region. There is no impression of ruin or abandonment. Clean, bright, cozy. Perhaps it’s not worth going specifically for Gornozavodsk, but as a point on the route it’s a must-see!

Transport

The city is located on the Perm - Nizhny Tagil railway (an electrified, single-track line with regular passenger long-distance and suburban services). The name of the station (Pashia) is different from the name of the city. Thanks to the construction of an asphalt-concrete road from the city to the Kungur - Berezniki, Chusovoy - Perm, Gornozavodsk - Yekaterinburg highways, the city received a stable direct bus connection with Perm, Lysva, Chusovoy, Yekaterinburg, Berezniki, Gubakha, Kungur.

City Museum

The entire Perm region is very attractive. The city of Gornozavodsk is famous for its sights and buildings.

One of them is the Gornozavodsk Museum of Local Lore named after M. P. Starostin (local historian, one of the founders of the museum). Once here, you will hear a detailed history of the city. It is noteworthy that until the 20th century, part of the territory of the modern district was part of the possessions of the Stroganov landowners.

There is an interesting composition here, “The History of Exploration, Search and Industrial Mining of Diamonds in Russia,” which tells about the first people who discovered precious stones on the territory of our Fatherland.

In addition, here you can see a collection of Ural iron castings, ceramic sculptures, trays and utensils made of wood with painting, as well as a collection of minerals, which represents other regions besides the Ural.

Social sphere

Gornozavodsk has a relatively developed social infrastructure. A recognized cultural and leisure center is the House of Culture named after. L.I. Ber, in which there are many studios and clubs (including the children's exemplary ballet theater "Rowan"). At the art school, children are trained and educated in the visual and music departments.

The city has a local history museum named after. Starostina (art casting, stone products, Perm enamel), 2 libraries, swimming pool "Youth". On the basis of the Nika Sports and Fitness Club there is an active SAMBO, football, etc. section. A tourist club, a karate section, a theater studio, dance and arts and crafts classes are open in the House of Children's Creativity. The city has a wonderful sports school of the Olympic reserve. There is cable television in Gornozavodsk. There is also an organization that installs satellite (digital) television.

The city's education system includes 2 secondary schools, the Gornozavodsk Polytechnic College, and an extensive network of preschool institutions.

Interesting Facts

Gornozavodsk is not just a small lost town on the edge of the Perm region. Its residents value their history and culture and strive to share it with tourists.

  • About the sculpture “Elephants” in Mining.
  • The plant has a ceramic workshop where they produce souvenirs that can be bought as gifts.
  • The logo of the local history museum depicts a diamond. This is due to the fact that the mining district was the first where diamonds were discovered in Russia.
  • Gornozavodsk actively participates in various cultural programs. In the near future, there are plans to open a youth courtyard, a landscape complex, hold a Russian diamond festival and the “Family-Home-City” marathon, etc.

Gornozavodsk is a small city with a big future. Hopes are pinned not only on the industrial sector, but also on tourism.

There are many amazing objects in the area: mountains and rocks of bizarre shape, rivers for rafting, forests with rare plants. The city itself will also pleasantly surprise tourists: it has interesting sculptures, a large museum, and regularly hosts various events.

Population of Gornozavodsk

Recent years have been characterized by a decline in the birth rate, but the city's population is steadily growing thanks to visitors. Every year a small number of people migrate to Gornozavodsk (Perm region). The ethnic composition of the city is dominated by Russians. Many people can find job advertisements on the Avito website. Gornozavodsk (Perm region) can offer visitors special development prospects.

The second largest population are Tatars and Armenians. It is noteworthy that in the city the number of female residents is proportional to the male population, which allows us to speak of an equal gender ratio. Thanks to the working factories, there is practically no unemployment in the city. This is a huge plus, especially when the country's economy is so unstable.

An excerpt characterizing Gornozavodsk (Perm region)

- Well, Sokolov, they’re not completely leaving! They have a hospital here. Maybe you’ll be even better than ours,” said Pierre. - Oh my God! O my death! Oh my God! – the soldier groaned louder. “Yes, I’ll ask them again now,” said Pierre and, getting up, went to the door of the booth. While Pierre was approaching the door, the corporal who had treated Pierre to a pipe yesterday approached with two soldiers from outside. Both the corporal and the soldiers were in marching uniform, in knapsacks and shakos with buttoned scales that changed their familiar faces. The corporal walked to the door in order to, by order of his superiors, close it. Before release, it was necessary to count the prisoners. “Caporal, que fera t on du malade?.. [Corporal, what should we do with the patient?..] - Pierre began; but at that moment, as he said this, he doubted whether it was the corporal he knew or another, unknown person: the corporal was so unlike himself at that moment. In addition, at the moment Pierre was saying this, the crash of drums was suddenly heard from both sides. The corporal frowned at Pierre's words and, uttering a meaningless curse, slammed the door. It became semi-dark in the booth; Drums crackled sharply on both sides, drowning out the patient’s groans. “Here it is!.. It’s here again!” - Pierre said to himself, and an involuntary chill ran down his back. In the changed face of the corporal, in the sound of his voice, in the exciting and muffled crackling of the drums, Pierre recognized that mysterious, indifferent force that forced people against their will to kill their own kind, that force whose effect he saw during the execution. It was useless to be afraid, to try to avoid this force, to make requests or admonitions to people who served as its instruments. Pierre knew this now. We had to wait and be patient. Pierre did not approach the patient again and did not look back at him. He stood silently, frowning, at the door of the booth. When the doors of the booth opened and the prisoners, like a herd of sheep, crushing each other, crowded into the exit, Pierre made his way ahead of them and approached the very captain who, according to the corporal, was ready to do everything for Pierre. The captain was also in field uniform, and from his cold face there was also “it,” which Pierre recognized in the words of the corporal and in the crash of the drums. “Filez, filez, [Come in, come in.],” the captain said, frowning sternly and looking at the prisoners crowding past him. Pierre knew that his attempt would be in vain, but he approached him. – Eh bien, qu'est ce qu'il ya? [Well, what else?] - the officer said, looking around coldly, as if not recognizing him. Pierre said about the patient. – Il pourra marcher, que diable! - said the captain. – Filez, filez, [He’ll go, damn it! Come in, come in,” he continued to say, without looking at Pierre. “Mais non, il est a l'agonie... [No, he's dying...] - Pierre began. – Voulez vous bien?! [Go to...] - the captain shouted, frowning angrily. Drum yes yes dam, dam, dam, the drums crackled. And Pierre realized that the mysterious force had already completely taken possession of these people and that now it was useless to say anything else. The captured officers were separated from the soldiers and ordered to go ahead. There were about thirty officers, including Pierre, and about three hundred soldiers. The captured officers, released from other booths, were all strangers, were much better dressed than Pierre, and looked at him, in his shoes, with distrust and aloofness. Not far from Pierre walked, apparently enjoying the general respect of his fellow prisoners, a fat major in a Kazan robe, belted with a towel, with a plump, yellow, angry face. He held one hand with a pouch behind his bosom, the other leaned on his chibouk. The major, puffing and puffing, grumbled and was angry at everyone because it seemed to him that he was being pushed and that everyone was in a hurry when there was nowhere to hurry, everyone was surprised at something when there was nothing surprising in anything. Another, a small, thin officer, spoke to everyone, making assumptions about where they were being led now and how far they would have time to travel that day. An official, in felt boots and a commissariat uniform, ran from different sides and looked out for the burned-out Moscow, loudly reporting his observations about what had burned and what this or that visible part of Moscow was like. The third officer, of Polish origin by accent, argued with the commissariat official, proving to him that he was mistaken in defining the districts of Moscow. -What are you arguing about? - the major said angrily. - Whether it’s Nikola, or Vlas, it’s all the same; you see, everything burned down, well, that’s the end... Why are you pushing, isn’t there enough road,” he turned angrily to the one walking behind who was not pushing him at all. - Ay, ay, ay, what have you done! - However, the voices of prisoners were heard, now from one side or the other, looking around the fire. - And Zamoskvorechye, and Zubovo, and in the Kremlin, look, half of them are gone... Yes, I told you that all of Zamoskvorechye, that’s how it is. - Well, you know what burned, well, what’s there to talk about! - said the major. Passing through Khamovniki (one of the few unburned quarters of Moscow) past the church, the entire crowd of prisoners suddenly huddled to one side, and exclamations of horror and disgust were heard. - Look, you scoundrels! That's unchrist! Yes, he’s dead, he’s dead... They smeared him with something. Pierre also moved towards the church, where there was something that caused exclamations, and vaguely saw something leaning against the fence of the church. From the words of his comrades, who saw better than him, he learned that it was something like the corpse of a man, stood upright at the fence and smeared with soot on his face... - Marchez, sacre nom... Filez... trente mille diables... [Go! go! Damn it! Devils!] - curses from the guards were heard, and the French soldiers, with new anger, dispersed the crowd of prisoners who were looking at the dead man with cutlasses. Along the lanes of Khamovniki, the prisoners walked alone with their convoy and carts and wagons that belonged to the guards and were driving behind them; but, going out to the supply stores, they found themselves in the middle of a huge, closely moving artillery convoy, mixed with private carts. At the bridge itself, everyone stopped, waiting for those traveling in front to advance. From the bridge, the prisoners saw endless rows of other moving convoys behind and ahead. To the right, where the Kaluga road curved past Neskuchny, disappearing into the distance, stretched endless rows of troops and convoys. These were the troops of the Beauharnais corps who came out first; back, along the embankment and across the Stone Bridge, Ney's troops and convoys stretched. Davout's troops, to which the prisoners belonged, marched through the Crimean Ford and had already partly entered Kaluzhskaya Street. But the convoys were so stretched out that the last convoys of Beauharnais had not yet left Moscow for Kaluzhskaya Street, and the head of Ney’s troops was already leaving Bolshaya Ordynka. Having passed the Crimean Ford, the prisoners moved a few steps at a time and stopped, and moved again, and on all sides the crews and people became more and more embarrassed. After walking for more than an hour the few hundred steps that separate the bridge from Kaluzhskaya Street, and reaching the square where Zamoskvoretsky streets meet Kaluzhskaya, the prisoners, squeezed into a heap, stopped and stood at this intersection for several hours. From all sides one could hear the incessant rumble of wheels, the trampling of feet, and incessant angry screams and curses, like the sound of the sea. Pierre stood pressed against the wall of the burnt house, listening to this sound, which in his imagination merged with the sounds of a drum. Several captured officers, in order to get a better view, climbed onto the wall of the burnt house near which Pierre stood. - To the people! Eka people!.. And they piled on the guns! Look: furs... - they said. “Look, you bastards, they robbed me... It’s behind him, on a cart... After all, this is from an icon, by God!.. These must be Germans.” And our man, by God!.. Oh, scoundrels!.. Look, he’s loaded down, he’s walking with force! Here they come, the droshky - and they captured it!.. See, he sat down on the chests. Fathers!.. We got into a fight!.. - So hit him in the face, in the face! You won't be able to wait until evening. Look, look... and this is probably Napoleon himself. You see, what horses! in monograms with a crown. This is a folding house. He dropped the bag and can't see it. They fought again... A woman with a child, and not bad at all. Yes, of course, they will let you through... Look, there is no end. Russian girls, by God, girls! They are so comfortable in the strollers! Again, a wave of general curiosity, as near the church in Khamovniki, pushed all the prisoners towards the road, and Pierre, thanks to his height, saw over the heads of others what had so attracted the curiosity of the prisoners. In three strollers, mixed between the charging boxes, women rode, sitting closely on top of each other, dressed up, in bright colors, rouged, shouting something in squeaky voices.

Attractions

Gornozavodsk can offer tourists different attractions depending on their interests. For history buffs, these are archaeological sites from the Neolithic and Bronze Ages.

For connoisseurs of urbanism there are many interesting compositions staged in recent years in accordance with modern trends. And nature lovers will be pleasantly surprised by the mountains, rocks and views from them.

Obelisk in memory of the workers shot by the White Guards in January 1919

The Perm region became one of the arenas for the battle of the Red and White armies, and a large number of steles and obelisks were installed throughout the territory. There is one of them in Gornozavodsk. Initially it was a small column, which then turned into a large obelisk.

Genre sculpture “Kind Heart”

St. Sverdlova

The main motto of the city: “Culture is the cement for the creation of Gornozavodsk.” In the 2010s, the slogan was taken literally, and several interesting art objects were made from cement, which became a real symbol of the city.

“Kind Heart” is Buddha, who has become a symbol for local residents of a person with a big and open heart.

Genre sculpture “Elephants”

St. Sverdlova

Another cement monument installed as part of the program. Three elephants, looking in different directions, stand on a turtle - these are the animals that were depicted holding the earth's disk before scientists recognized that the earth was a ball.

Genre sculpture “Ordinary Story”

St. Kirov

Two lovers are sitting on a bench. The girl and the guy look at each other, and this symbolizes what happens everywhere, regardless of geography and distance. Locals advise every tourist to sit nearby in order to also find personal happiness.

Genre sculpture “Grandmother”

St. Kirov

The grandmother is sitting very close to the lovers. According to the idea, this is the grandmother who is in every yard and who loves to feed pigeons. Mining workers say that there are actually more birds near it than in any other place in the city.

Lenin monument

In the north of the city, on the territory of the industrial zone, stands Lenin. The monument was erected in the 1980s at the expense of the townspeople.

City Park

A small landscaped park in the city center. Famous for the monument to the unknown soldier. Next to it there are slabs on which exactly the soldiers who died during the Great Patriotic War are carved.

Museum of Local Lore

St. Sverdlova 59.

The museum was opened back in 1967 in the school building. The initiators of the discovery were local local historians and enthusiasts.

It consists of several halls with different exhibitions: local history, decorative and applied arts, mineralogy, the history of the diamond industry, the nature of the region and the World Ocean. The Museum of Stone and Cast Iron Products in Gornozavodsk is also here.

Tourists can listen to the history until the 20th century, when on the site of the city there were only the lands of the Stroganov merchants.

Important! The museum's opening hours vary depending on the time of year. In winter, weekends fall on Sunday and Monday, in summer – on Saturday and Sunday.

Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary

St. Kirova 55.

This is a small brick church, opened in 1992-1993 in the building of a former kindergarten. It is considered one of the most significant places in the city. Various charity events and events are regularly held here.
